I have made good use of the NMRA materials on the 2011 convention website.
I attended all the clinics there that I could work in, concentrating on
some excellent clinics on DCC and signaling.
I was extremely impressed with the quality of the clinics there. I
attended as an NASG member but joined the NMRA shortly after the convention
after
reading that you could order the clinics on DVD.
Wow was I disappointed. There are no current clinics on DCC or on related
subjects. That's a subject where the NMRA has the best presenters. I have
complained to the current president and past president about their failure
to offer these clinics on DVD when part of their sales pitch is the
offering of clinics on DVD.
I received a very nice reply from our current president who sympathized
with my complaint, but also mentioned the problem with getting enough money
and volunteers to do quality filming of these clinics And think about how
much more in resources the NMRA has for their conventions than the NASG has
for ours. . . . . . That has not stopped the NMRA advertising their clinics
on DVDs in their sales pitch.
I appreciate that Bill Winans made an attempt to film some of the clinics
at the Chattanooga Convention though.

The NMRA has published books of the clinics held at their national
conventions, with some of the later ones on a CD instead. The 2011 NMRA
clinic
presentations and handouts are still on the convention website. Note that
not all clinics may be on the publications.
I have some copies of videos taken during clinics at a National Narrow
Gauge Convention, but the originals were “homemade”.
Clinics do not seem to be a big thing at NASG conventions compared to some
other conventions I have attended, but if there were handouts, etc.
available, IMHO they should be on the NASG website at a members only location.
