Writing the interface code in an optional package means:
- The interface code is no longer part of 'standard sage'. It is
better then to host is somewhere, on some publicly available
repository (with some extra code administration to do there)
- The interface not being part of standard sage, its documentation is
not part of our online "official" reference manual, so people will not
find it easily
- Every single update of the interface code results in an update of
the package we ship
- The history of changes to the interface does not appear in our git history
