But the result of what you want to do and what I suggest to add to v5 is the same....

Dirk,

I am a little unclear on your first example; what reason would you need to put a check into maintenance when it would already be in Maintenance due to the checks schedule.

The sequence you describe is logical, and would meet what I have described functionally, I just don't see what sequence of events would require you to change a check from maintenance due to  'checking schedule of entry', to maintenance until - whatever we decide.

The 'Other example' is exactly the sort of procedure I am describing, but rather than specifying to put the check on maintenance for 1 hour I am suggesting the option is to put the check on maintenance until the check goes to maintenance due to the 'checking schedule of entry'.

Regards,

Andy

I think you might be misunderstanding how this would work.
Let me try to explain.

Example:
entry_1 has a schedule that says NOT to check on Friday from 6am until 8pm

On Friday at 4am you maunal set it to maintenance (NOT changing the schedule!) for 4 hours

This means that the next cycle let's assume at 4:10am the entry is not checked since it's in maintenance.
    ...
At 8am (to be correct first cycle after 8am) we remove the maintenance flag (4 hours after the time it was set to maintenance), and we see that due to the schedule is set NOT to be checked -> entry is not checked.

First we look at the maintenance/active flag.  And IF that flag gives an "active" as result then we check the schedule.

So from what I can understand from what you want to do this should not be a problem.

Other example:
entry_1 has a schedule that says to check on Wednesday from 8am until 9am
On Wednesday at 8:15am you put the entry into maintenance for 1 hour
On Wednesday at 9:15am we remove the maintenance flag and check the schedule and see that we should not check it.
    ...

Do you understand?

Dirk.

I would of thought using the schedule to indicate when a check becomes active is exactly what the schedule feature is for, otherwise what was the original idea of having a schedule for the time when a check is active.

I find it hard to believe that having the option of putting a check on Maintenance until the start of the next scheduled check would not be generally useful to a wider audience than my current configuration.

I have been recommending your product and your excellent support, and feedback, to some colleagues who would be only too happy to purchase if you currently provided a away of providing the facility I have been discussing.

Thanks for the feedback and consideration of this request, I will see if I can contrive another way to achieve this sort of functionality.

sorry but using the schedule seems very unrealistic for a common feature. A

can understand that in your setup this is something usefull, but we have to

try to make the tool as general as possible.

Then how about having a check box, when putting the check into this status, to use either the schedule checking time or if not checked, for a time hh:mm to be manually entered, would this then satisfy both options.

It's the same if you set hh:mm correctly.
But I can't agree with it that SA should set hh:mm according to the checking schedule.

Dirk,

isn't the "maintenance until next schedule" the same as "maintenance until hh:mm", just using the scheduled time for the check, as specified in the 'checking schedule of entry', as the user specified time, rather than setting another field with this value?

We can't do a "maintenance until next schedule", is would be to specific for your needs and not generaly usefull.  What is a possibily is a "maintenance until hh:mm" were the user can specify until when.
