Dirk,
I see
that what you are suggesting would provide the same functionality I have
outlined, however, I must try again to make it clear that I was after an option
to put the check into maintenance until the check goes to maintenance due to the
'checking schedule of entry'.
This
is NOT the same as putting the check into maintenance for 1 hour or 2, 3, 4 or
whatever.
It
would NOT require the operator putting it into maintenance, to know how many
hours it is until the check would go into maintenance due to the 'checking
schedule of entry'. - this makes it more fool proof as there is no requirement
to manually calculate this time and therefore have the potential to introduce
the human error factor.
As the
SysAdmin I am more than happy with your proposal, but as there will be other,
less experienced support personnel also using the system I want to make it as
fool proof as possible, to help avoid problems due to human
error.
The
suggestion made by Michael Shook (thanks for the suggestion), that I have
recently replied to would seem to offer the best, and most generally
useful, solution.
Regards,
Andy

Subject: RE: [SA-list] Possible Future Feature RequestDirk,I am a little unclear on your first example; what reason would you need to put a check into maintenance when it would already be in Maintenance due to the checks schedule. The sequence you describe is logical, and would meet what I have described functionally, I just don't see what sequence of events would require you to change a check from maintenance due to 'checking schedule of entry', to maintenance until - whatever we decide. The 'Other example' is exactly the sort of procedure I am describing, but rather than specifying to put the check on maintenance for 1 hour I am suggesting the option is to put the check on maintenance until the check goes to maintenance due to the 'checking schedule of entry'.Regards,And Y
