Actually, some years ago I did work on a token-ring[1] system for
connecting Sams together - my experiments at the time only went as far as
writing an IRC-style chat program, but it should have been extensible.

Unfortuantely, the only time I ever had more than two Sams in the same
room to test it was at the first Weatherby show, the code didn't work and
I didn't really get chance to figure out what was going wrong.

[1] Yes, the Sams were in a loop - it seemed the most convenient way to be
sure that every Sam could send messages to every other. The trick is to
turn MIDI-Through off (otherwise messages would go round and round
forever), and do all the packet-forwarding manually...
