I've got mine on an IBM 4000R w/ dual 650 PII's; 1.5G RAM, running
Win2K/Sambar/REBOL IIS is not installed or in use at all. Very stable set-up
thus far.

I've found that if you want to run PHP it is much easier to put Linux 7.2 on
an old machine (Pentium class) as it comes with Apache/PHP out of the box
and is cheaper than another Sambar (or was). Funny thing.... have yet to
note virus type attacks on this machine. Must take some degree of talent to
cause trouble.

Other than being fastest gun I wonder what you aim to do. If you are trying
to do it with a 56K modem you won't probably be happy. Hard to find a hook
to keep pace with a 1.8G processor... but if you do your machine will not
care whose hard drive it is ... should be as quick as your own C:/ drive in
a perfect world... light speed one day soon we hope.

Tweaks... run it as a service. USE NT logon/logoff security. Use another
machine for day to day computing.

lossa luck...
ay

Subject: [sambar] tweaks {01}

Man, this group is quite these days. So, let's start some discussion.
Namely, I've just built a 1800mhz machine with raid and run the server off a
differant drive than the Operating system. Both drives ata100 7200 rpm.

Here's the question. How much ram would you put in it? Is 768meg enough? How
can I make sambar the faster gun in town? Gimmie some tweaks here relating
to sambar and NT.

Highest Regards,

Rodney Richison
