Wow. Holy OS wars again! Toss a coin. XP *is* the upgrade to 2000, and next year Windows 2004 (or whatever new name they choose this time) will be out and 2000 will have the bad rap.
2000 is *much* more like XP than it is NT. With a few mouse clicks you'll find that XP can look *exactly* like 2000. There is NO learning curve whatsoever unless you like all the 'web enabled' crap that doesn't add to the OS at all. All reports that I've seen, and my own experience, shows that they are about equal in stability.
