I have reviewed a great deal of material on the SIMS product. They do have
pretty decent User documentation on the website (adobe files) that I have
been looking through. I am sorry to hear they have a bad product. I figured
it was a good product, just very expensive.
How about Centre? <

indicate a preference for PostGreSQL, Apache Web server and PHP. Looks like
add-ons and support are where you pay, but still MUCH cheaper than SIMS.
So, I am very interested in SchoolTool. From what I read, it looks like this
tool is taking the SIF data modeling seriously. An application can never be
better than the underlying data structure.
How does one determine where development is at? I am not a Zope 3 developer.
Do you need to learn Zope 3 to work with it? Where do you point your
newbies? What help is the community looking for? What are the jobs we can do
to speed up development?
Extreme sports and martial arts? Yowza! That is impressive! I try to walk
an hour each day on my treadmill. On a good week, I did so 5 times!
So, Adrian - you must be a system guy? I am a developer, DB's are my
specialty but I also enjoy web development. What is it about you system guys
that plain text is what you must have? I mean honestly - you are into
EXTREME SPORTS for crying out loud - wouldn't you like the fonts to be
different colors and some letters that are larger than others? Perhaps an
animated gif? Since you asked me so nicely, I turned the RTF off, but, it is
very sad and dreary to me! (sad face inserted here).
Thanks much for your support! I look forward to getting to know you all.

PS - Scott had a bad day yesterday. He and I have exchanged a couple of
emails since. He is a very bright, remarkable person from Canada with TONS
of great experience in Open Source and Linux (and IBM, MS products). I do
believe you will enjoy him. To be honest, his "bull in a china store" antics
helped connect people in this list that is *maybe* a little too quiet. (I
say maybe because I have no right to judge since I have not been on very
long!) Anyway, he really is a very nice guy, I promise! Just a BAD day; no
worries! He will be a good one for all of us to know!
