Analysis engine\Edit\Configure UCI engine\Multiple Variations=1 then
saving or directly setting the number of variations using the updown
arrows in the analysis pane =1 currently has the same result. When the
annotate button is pressed the engine (in this case Toga) starts to
analyze in multipv=4. Incidentally, if I set multipv to 2 or 3 then
multipv=2 or 3 is used to annotate. But not multipv=1.
