Robert, try these commands:

`yum provides gdm`
`yum provides kdm`

The output will tell you if the software needed to login to either the
Gnome or KDE login is installed.

Also, run this command:

`grep initdefault /etc/inittab`

The output should be:

"id:5:initdefault:"

If it is not, that is your problem. Make a backup copy of /etc/inittab and
edit the original version so it reads:

"id:5:initdefault:"

Reboot and see what happens.
