I find it useless noise myself but its implemented on Windows.
Often it is useless, and I just ignore it, and sometime it is precious
(another visual hint that something was replaced, verify that all lines
has been processed, etc.)
Text editors are typical of software for which uses vary greatly between
users, that's why SciTE is so rich with features and settings
(overwhelming sometime...)
And I praise your open mind integrating features of no interest for you
but that can be useful to others.
