Hi,
I'm also having problems with the GemPlus PCMCIA reader, but they're
different than yours. Perhaps if we work together we could figure it out.
I noticed you mention you're using 3.1.18 of the pcmcia-cs. The README says
that the drivers were updated to be compatible with 3.1.17 and this might be
the reason for the core dump and pointer dereference errors you're getting.
I was able to compile the driver fine but can't seem to get cardmgr to
recognize the card. (the card pops in with a low beep and
/var/lib/pcmcia/stab shows the slot empty.)
I can do a insmod without problem. The card then shows up with a lsmod as
follows:
Module Size Used by
gpr400_cs 9276 0 (unused)
ds 6184 1 [gpr400_cs]
i82365 22436 1
pcmcia_core 44384 0 [gpr400_cs ds i82365]
ltmodem 453200 0 (unused)
lockd 31176 1 (autoclean)
sunrpc 52964 1 (autoclean) [lockd]
esssolo1 21548 0
soundcore 2596 4 [esssolo1]
but the slot still shows as empty and running tclsh and using libcard.so.0.9
tells me that no card is found.
trying to load the card with:
cardmgr -m /lib/modules/2.2.16-22/pcmcia/gpr400_cs.o
has no effect at all. I think I'm just missing something simple like maybe
an entry in pcmcia/config or something.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Karl Sigler

----original message----
Dear Sir:
I tried to download the Gemplus GPR400 PCMCIA driver from the MUSCLE
site as my reference.
After compiled it with pcmcia-cs-3.1.8 under RedHat 6.2 and plugged
the reader, it gave me a message like this:
Oct 5 18:37:41 localhost cardmgr[345]: initializing socket 0

...
=> some core dump messages.
Have any one ever built and loaded it successful? Or could anyone give
me a hint to solve this problem?
Thank you a lot!
Lo
