Usually diatonic harmonicas with tremolo reeds, with several on hand
(at least A/D/G) for quick key changes.

It parallels the contrast between favoured melodeon types in Scottish
and Irish music - Irish players often use chromatic harmonicas, which
work much the same as the B/C boxes they go for, whereas Scottish
players (the Shand Morino crowd excepted) use diatonic-in-fourths
melodeons. Switching rows on a diatonic melodeon is like switching
moothies, whereas switching rows on a B/C box is like shifting the
button on a chromatic moothie.

Most Scottish moothie players I know have moustaches. Which makes
a chromatic moothie painful.
