Marc/UK-313.

Not sure about the pics but the MD's still need to be recorded and converted.
Rob's given me about 4 weeks to get them encoded, then we'll load 'em up.

Cheers,

2002-05-22 Thread Nic Larsen

Hi Marc,

I recorded all the sets and I'm going to record & encode them, once I get back
from the DEMF :) I believe we've already sorted out some web space so they
will be available for streaming &/or download. Anyone who played on Saturday
night and wants a CD or MD copy of their set then hit me back and I'll see what
I can do.

Nice to meet ya (all) on Saturday!

Cheers,
Nic

Lee has been involved in a number of projects, but not Insync AFAIK (disclaimer
applies). I currenlty have the misfortune ;-) of sharing a flat with Lee and
every now and then I'll notice he has co-credits on a track.. usually with
Steve O'Sullivan but I'm sure there's others out there too.

I know someone who knows the Insync guys and vaguely remember talk of new
material slated for a label that never got going.. I'll see if I can get more
info but it might take some time. The first Insyn vs Mysteron EP on Fat Cat
is a blinder, proper UK techno, like they used to do in the "old days" but my
copy has a dirty great scratch over the best track and I haven't been able to
find another, anyone?

[313] DEMF/US Visa requirements

2002-04-16 Thread Nic . Larsen
It's a shame there's so much bad feeling about the DEMF this year becuase I've
been wanting to attend the last few and this year I've actually got it
together.. Looking at the line-up there's a few names missing, notably the
Planet E peeps and that's a big let down.. But, my girlfriend wants to go, I've
got a place to stay 15 mins walk from Hart Plaza with an old buddy and there
are plenty of names on that line-up I have never had the chance to hear.. so,
we're going.. :)

Can anyone with knowlage of US visa requirements please mail me off list with
any helpful info/advice. I don't want to get stuck at the airport! 1 aussie
passport holder, 1 english, no arrests (yet)
For UK-313'ers remember Saturday May 18th (the weekend before the DEMF) is our
meet-up in London.. would be a good time to arrange to meet at the DEMF for
anyone else going over..

cheers,
Nic

Re: [313] Maurice Fulton again

Last I heard (read) Maurice lived in Australia somewhere (Adelaide?) but I
think he is often in the UK as people have mentioned seeing him dj here a few
times recently. (and Nuphonic is London based) I feel the same way you do
about his production, it's all very, very good. Esp. the Ladyvipb LP.I
also have a 12" by him on "Bubble Tease", 1 track of which is the most funky
little number I've heard in a long time.. I've been dropping it out constantly
since I grabbed it. Lets hope there's lots more to come.

'ave a good weekend!

yeah, I just got the '01 double CD.. One CD is "Sonar by day" one is "Sonar by
night".. CD1 features Jazzanova, Sigur Ros, Isolee. etc (this is from memory so
pls forgive mistakes/exclusions) and the night CD features more techy business,
Mills, Circulation, Luomo..all in all a nice collection of tracks, only
criticism is that the 2nd (night) CD has a couple too many straight forward
club tracks which don't necessarily work too well unmixed, but obviously these
CD's feature artists who played Sonar.

http://www.sonar.es

doesn't seem to be a tracklisting on the Sonar site, but there's one here:

nice one Ian, good to see someone getting motivated.

personally I favour a heavy drinking session somewhere that's walking distance

Anyway, I'm thinking that non-UK list members might start getting a bit annoyed
with all this so I've started a Yayoo Group called UK-313

people want to use this? I'd like to contribute to the party but I'm too

of course the easy option is to just organise everyone to turn up at one gig,

Music: nothing fluffy. ;)

I was subbed to this list for years but just re-subbed two days ago after an
extended absence.. I share a flat in East London with a guy who used to work at
Fat Cat. We have too many records and lots of kit that gets used
spasmodically.. Releases to date: erm, none, but imminent. I've met a few
313'ers over the years, Tom Churchill hooked me up when I first came to
London.. bless 'im.. I remember the UR party as a big 313 knees up but have
lost touch with pretty much everyone, so hello to those who know me. I do a
monthly show on GaiaLive and promote a couple of underground parties (Triology,
Kult) which happen on an extremely irregular basis. see email addy, guess
what, I'm a network geek.
Good to see the 313 list still going strong.

Subject: (313) Big Apple/Jay Denham
Date: Mon, 20 Sep 1999 22:45:00 +0800

Any 313ers in Amsterdam who can tell me about a gig that may be
called the 'big apple' with heiko laux? A friend is there at the
moment, wondering whether to go or not.

I've seen the posters up for this - the line-up looks great and I am
considering flying over from London for it. I got to experience my first
big (commercial?) Dutch rave this weekend. Overall the experience was
positive. The crowd was so friendly (the Dutch in general are wonderful
people it has to be said), there was an element of cheesy candy ravers but I
prefer this to the seedy lager lout element that London clubs suffer from.
The venue was huge and the lighting was excellent (if you like lasers and
fireworks).. The only thing that let it down was the damn system! This had
me confused.. why spend so much on organising a great party and then have a
system that wasn't up to the task? I felt a little pissed off after telling
a friend that Jay Denham would be excellent and then being subjected to two
hours of indistinguishable bass rumble. Same for Surgeon and there was no
way I was staying for The Advent live 'cos I've heard them on a good system
and they did nothing for me. The entry price was also absurd (about 25 quid
on the door). The locals went crazy to both Jay and Surgeon.. Still, we
had a cool time.. The Big Apple gig looks interesting. Also the I Love
Techno party in Belgium looks worth a trip but I will be going mainly to
check out Richard Batz' live set..

hope this helps,
Nic

p.s. I know this is quite OT but it has to be better than the latest round
of Mills bashing/ass kissing! Can we skip it this time people, please!?
