Hmmm, this is one of the times that I force myself to remember how 99.8% of
Oo perfectly suits my needs.

Cuz this 'bug' is a stinkin, festerin' wart of 7-yr old seniority.

1) IMO it's a bad default for the delete key - very 'non-congruent' with
software programs elsewhere - bad UI I think
2) Exacerbated by no obvious way to swap delete and backspace key
3) Compounded by a bug in the KB assignment 'names' that makes it impossible to
assign the (duplicate!) "Delete Contents" function that was in del, to shift-del
(but one can do the reverse so one can solve the problematic

I sought to follow the advice in post "How to swap the function of the Backspace
and Delete keys..." in http://qa.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=9392

I thus discovered that when one goes to assign a function to a key, that there
are *two* entries for the Category=Edit with function="Delete Contents".

1) This is confusing for user

2) This prevents the second "Delete Contents" list item (which is presumed to
effect "Delete Contents via Dialog") from being effectively assigned to a key
since even if one does assign that second instance to a key, the first instance
of "Delete Contents" (the simpler,
delete-immediately-and-not-involving-a-dialog) is what's actually assigned.

Presumed fix is to give a unique 'function' name to that second instance (e.g.
"Delete Contents via Dialog").

I have successfully built dev300-m60 with boost-1.36 but configure claims that
boost >= 1.38 is required.

There is a check for boost/spirit/include/classic_core.hpp. This header file is
included in boost-1.36, so it is enough to update the error message.

I checked that the header was added in boost-1.36, so "1.36" seems that be the
right minimal version.

a specific Writer document, and indicate where they are used (perhaps

Fixed in CWS chart42. With that fix no broken files will be created anymore. But
already broken files still remain broken. They need to be changed manually
afterwards (resize the diagram and replace the title).

I today, that the scenario works correctly for the environment that I used on
Sept. 25th to confirm the problem. (In other words: files are correctly locked
on the sme system that failed two weeks ago).

There was an update of the smbfs packages on Oct. 1st. Maybe a bug in cifs mount
is the real cause of all of our troubles.

The version that works for me is:

Bezier curves consume a lot of CPU in OOO320m1 and are very slow in comparison
with 3.1.1.
1. Draw a few complicated bezier curves (for example by this extension

2. Compare OOO310m19 with OOO320m1. OOO320m1 can't handle what OOO310m19 can
handle. OOO320m1 almost completely hangs.

Create a chart with a vertical y-axis and add an y-axis title.
Rotate the title to zero rotation. 
Move the title and resize the diagram.
Save the document.
Reload the document and double click on the chart
-> the rotation of the title was not saved, it is switched back to 90 degree. In
addition the position of the title and the size of the diagram now can be
completely rubbish. The y axis is not visible anymore. Load and double click the
attached document for example .

I would be interested too although I think a more integrated solution might be
easier to manage. Here is the issue: I dictionary normally will require a master
document with various odt sections. I am imagining the overlay solution to be a
bit fragile to being combined with the master document concept. For example what
if one of the odt files in the master document (or two because in bilingual
dictionaries you will have a section with the reversed entries). If these get
converted to PDF, then do you have to convert all sections to PDF and combine
with a PDF combiner tool? The more tools you ad the more I find my user
community struggles getting things to work. They have to learn the User
Interfaces and feature sets of many tools. My goal is to aim for a simple and
automated solution.

it's empty. The file is created in \desktop\source\deployment\

Autocommitting is a  nasty nonsense-feature, invented by developers, but useless
in  allday-work. please catch it: Every form or table, that holds data for edit
or by new entry, that can be left unintentionally - by TAB or Nav-Keys - and
updates data anyway, is worthless for the user! Bind the function to a button, a
function-key or an icon, but do not miss to make it available. It is a problem,
that you do not have a Database-Parameter-Table for each ODB, where one can
store such things, so you need to put it in the Base-Option-dialog. No good
place, but the onlyone, if you want to make SetAutoCommit a switchable option.  

And, bytheway, you just explained, why devolopment of the base-part of OOo is
not evoling: HSQL is not intended to keep/hold data for updating a back-end
until you leave a form. I do not know where you got that, it must be an
OOo-invention, it has nothing to do with HSQL. However, for a database ment for
the public it is a useless concept. Everything must be done loud and clear
(explicit commit !) and immidiatly - otherwise no subform/lookup-concept will
seriously ever work with OOo. And I have thought you wanted make that possible.

happens only in case of special environment. Of course it does not make the life
of the unlucky environment owner easier, but it is no general locking problem,
sorry.

By the way, which installation of the office is used. Is it a standard build
from openoffice.org?

Could you please also try the same scenario with OOo2.4 ( instead of OOo3.1.1 )
as I have requested earlier.

Once again I posted too soon. With new profile worked properly first time. 
After quitting OO.o, the next 
time I started it OO.o once again quit when closing only open document. I have 
retested this several

disabled.

In framework/source/jobs/job.cxx in the Job::execute() method the line

ODF spec says, "The table:print attribute specifies if a table is printed. It
takes a Boolean value. If its value is true, the table is printed, if its value
is false, the table is not printed." But if all worksheets have set print range
"none", which is equal to the attribute table:print="false", then all worksheets
are printed. OOo should not print any of the sheets i this case.

Of cause user want to get the sheets printed with default settings. Therefore
not only the printing behavior must be corrected, but the default setting for
new worksheets should be print range "entire sheet", which is equal to the

After discussing various options we finally concluded that the only way to fix
this is by running a full indexing on the site, but running the indexer is ruled
out as it will have a huge impact on the site's performance because of the huge
data-set that OO has.

I applied the patch to DEV300 m60 and ran it on a mac 10.5.8. I also used debug
output to verify that the startup function was called. Starting the Beanshell or
JScript editor from the macro organize dialog, does not work. There is still the
message:

"Apple AWT Java VM was loaded on first thread -- can't start AWT."

The Java version is 1.5.0. That Java generally works was proved by running the
letter wizard.

AW->cornouws: Yes, that's mainly because the geometry for fat lines needs to be
represented as decomposed geometry to include the line joins. As said, the
MetaFile does not have any possibility to handle that information.

AW: To solve this, i tried to expand the MetaFile to include such action. As a
start, i expanded LineInfo and it's streaming operators. Luckily, there is a
version info written/read in the file, so this indeed is possible.

The bad news starts when You try to use it; e.g. when saving a SVM (our own
MetaFile format, also used for OLEs), the stream operators at the MetaActions
are not used, but a class called SVMConverter. And guess what, there is NO
version information and NO way to add LineJoin info in a compatible way. Sigh 
:-(

All in all the MetaFile handling has VARIOUS ways to save/load them which cannot
all easily been found and not all of them can be expanded. So, a MetaFile which
went through a save/load cycle is NOT guaranteed the same MetaFile as before. 
Ahhh!

printing using the gtk print dialog and a gtkprint job that routes to cups to do

Still not fixed in V3.1! Open a Word-File in OO (ok) then save as Word (any
version) will produce a 1 pixel width and the original height graphic. Not
placed in a table - just directly placed into the text area. Big bug for anyone
who must exchange text files with the remaining Microsoft World.
