Guru proves a point  IndiaGlitz  [Tuesday, January 23, 
2007]  
Mani Rathnam has lived up to his reputation of being touted 
as the country's best director. His Guru, starring Abhishek Bachchan and 
Aishwarya Rai, has managed to collect huge revenue and also has won the 
director greater accolades.
 The Hindi version of Guru opened worldwide last week and has been collecting 
huge revenue wherever it was screened.
 Mani Rathnam, considered the master of mixing commercial and mass cinema, is 
now going places.
 The director was reportedly approached by a couple of Hollywood production 
houses to do a film for them, but he meekly rejected those offers.
 Guru, loosely based on the life of business tycoon Dhirubhai Ambani, is 
expected to win several awards for Mani Rathnam and his team. Abhishek's 
excellent performance, Rahman's catchy musical score and Rajeev Menon’s 
cinematography have been winning appreciations.
 However, Mani Rathnam is his usual self, ready to commence work for his next 
movie, Lajjo, starring Aamir Khan.

Dharbha,most of the srilankan part ( expect beach
scenes )are shot at Palakkad Dist, Kerala. I was doing
my final year at college then at coimbatotre and my
native is palakkad.The war secnes ( song vidai kodu
vidai kodu maname) was shot at cath ment area of
malampuzha dam in 12 km from palakkad town. The Budha
scene was shot at ahira pally falls near Trichur (
same location for, guru,dilse etc).The LTTE camp
secene is in a farm house owned by govt near
malampuzha dam.Hope you are clear with location now
plz do get back to me for furher clarifications

One of the reasons i'm a regular visitor to the group is kaissiom and
other perople who keep adding extras to group.  of course, i visit the
group everyday to find out the latest about Rahman, but also the
second thought in my mind is maybe kaissiom or someone posted
something today... it's always exciting to see kaissiom post
something...because it is always special.  Although i'm a regular
visitor, i was not a member of the group, i
just joined the group to thank you kaissiom.  i noticed you put such a
wonderful thing on the group and not a lot of replies, thanking you or
anything.  so I thought I should thank you. you are doing a great job,

love everything you post.  this mix is the best so far. how do you do
it?  other peopl post mixes which are good too, but i notice that your
mixed have a different quality to it, in music, i notice you don't
really add anything new.  U use all Rahman stuff, that is what makes
it even amazing.  Some of the songs you blended in the medley were
just awsome.  although most of the transitions in the medley were just
amazing.. i found some that were more than amazing... the transition
are so seamless that they sound original.

how did you get all those vocals of Rahman, do have a library of
those.. please share with us also.

-main vari vari transition - your timing was just great, the bass
sounds like it was in the original song.. good mix

-sapnay-swades-taal transition - perfect buildup of music

-Ayo re(swades)- Ayo(RDB)mix - simply mindblowing... how did u think
of that?

-most of hindusti-hindusti classical mapping is just superb.

-over 120 bits.. wow... tremendous effrot.. searching.. finding...
mapping.. editing.. everything... just brilliance.

It's amazing to know there are some very talented people on this
group... kaissiom, u used to post many things before but you have
slowed down recently... please post anything havee... small or big.

kaissiom and others  hats off to you guys, you guys add a lot more to
the group, you guys are the reason people keep coming back to this

I think the iPod only plays tracks encoded with Apple's ironically named 
FairPlay DRM. So, the
only way for you to get this protected WMA file to play on your iPod is to hack 
it and convert
it to an unprotected mp3 and then copy it to your iPod via iTunes. And if you 
do that, I guess
you would obviously be violating the licensing terms.

hadn't quite liked it earlier when I had heard the version that rahman had
sung at the mumbai ny eve concert but now when I hear the song in its
original form complete with all instrumentation ...its just divine .


one question though ...Gopal/Vijay or someone else, perhaps can help me here
.

Can't I convert this song into mp3 ...would that also be a violation of
copy-right laws? Can anyone enlighten me ...

THanks mirza, for ur help, but i happend to be living in Saudi Arabia.
Now I got Maestro card, I tried entering it in 7digital, it says CARD
no. and Card type does not match. And 1 more question for Maestro
(which is a debit card) 7 digital is asking for Validation no. But hey
Maestro doesnt have validation no. WHat do i Enter. Please help dude!

Have been listening to this song for the past few days.  The melody is 
quite simple and with a catchy rhythm, it stays in your head.  But, 
the brilliance of this song lies in the extraordinary harmonic 
accompaniments, especially the vocal sections.  Vocal layerings are 
out of this world. During the rap section, the female vocal harmonic 
accompaniment is just beautiful with an Indian classical melody and 
soft vocal tones.  And finally, the chord progressions in the song are 
ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT.  It's the chordal progressions which add those 
special "surprise" elements throughout the song, as if on a journey 
with breathtaking twists and turns.  Rahman using a lot of minor 6th 
and 7th triadic variations which add an immense richness to the 
harmony.  Especially take note the ending, when Rahman starts 
singins "Round and round".  The chords in that section are

Though the price is mentioned in pounds, I cd buy
using my credit card from US.. it will convert by itself..
Guess people from all over can buy it if they have an
internationally valid creditcard like VISA/MC.
By the way the song is amazing.. its at 196Kbps but the sounds are 
crystal clear.

I want the name of the place where the title song of Kannathil
Mutthamittal was shot. Was it in Sri Lanka? Can anybody tell me?
Specially the place where there was a huge statue of Lying Buddh. It
is kind of urgent and I really need the name of the place. I hope
some1 in this group would be aware of that destination.

recomposition
ARR met MSV after the audio release of New and MSV
huged ARR and told  that ARR had done a great job by
remixing old song, at that juncture ARR clarified that
its not Remix, its recomposition since old song have
no similarity with new song in tune.
