User unable to save preferences in a Table Field (Mid Tier)

2009-11-16 Thread Richard Nylander
Hello,

The problem I have is that user is unable to save preferences in a Table
Filed in their browser.

The form has three views, all used with Mid Tier, and in two of the views
the user is able to save preferences such as column width and column order.
But in the third view even if the user uses save preferences, each time they
log in the table is set to default.

I can even see the changes the user does in the form AR System User
Preferences, but when they open the form the preferences are not read. But
their changes are saved and kept in the AR System User Preferences form.

Anyone have idea why this is happening?

Thanks

Richard Nylander

I know Phil Bautista copied my SD card just before we left, and there
is quite a bit of conference video around.

Perhaps we can prevail on someone to collect a few pix on the WWRUG

Or Friend me :-).

In answer to your question LJ, not sure how long you've been
attending. But this conference was very much like those of the
90's. Everyone there was a Remedy person. Everyone had the same
interests and more than willingly to share their experiences. I
hope we do keep this format.

I really like the tutorials at the beginning of the day. Way back I
would take the tutorials before the actual conference started and
sometimes by Thursday your mind was in a major meltdown. I thought
the pace was just right this year. I also thought there was more
time to chat among ourselves which is of great value too. The
variety of sessions was good and the ones I attended for the most
part were technically orientated.

I always came home with ideas, and this year was no different. And
it's nice to get that shot of excitement. To want to try new things
that you can share next year.

I have to say, I was pleasantly pleased with the organization of the
event. From my view everything went very smooth, I'm sure at times
the organizers were scrambling, but it didn't show.

I'm ready to sign up for next year's WWRUG !! See you there,

Doug Blair is the official blogger for WWRUG09, poster of the ARSlist

first time

since last Friday, I think I'll make him the official twitterer.

WWRUG is me as well, for WWRUG.

WWRUG09 is the one for the conference, but you have to picture that

Defined Search

2009-11-16 Thread Atul Vohra
Hi All,

Our remedy application is used by different clients and we have a requirement
to create a tool that would create the defined searches without them actually
doing it in the form through the admin tool.

I am trying to look for the best approach to create a small app to help the
client admin create these searches and also if they import new remedy def files
from us they could use this tool to recreate the searches (make sense)

Is there remedy api call that could set this - I saw the information is saved
as a display property?
Can AR System Search Preference form be used in any way?
Directly updating the DB?

Need some guidance - not sure if I am totally off base...

Thanks

Re: Oracle RAC failover

2009-11-16 Thread Lyle Taylor
Yes, we have three servers running in a server group - one admin server and two
user-facing servers. We have ARS 7.1 p5 on Windows Server 2003 with half of
ITSM 7.0.3 p6. Oracle is running on Linux (not sure which version, but may be
a version of Suse - I can find out if it makes a difference). We use LDAP
instead of TNSNAMES, but this is (the edited - formatting added, names and
ports changed) the output of tnsping:

C:\Users\lyletaylor>tnsping remedypr1

TNS Ping Utility for 32-bit Windows: Version 10.2.0.3.0 - Production on 16-NOV-2

(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST= server3)(PORT= port))
(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST= server4)(PORT= port))
(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVICE_NAME=service)))
OK (0 msec)

My understanding is that two of the servers are there as standby hosts in case
the other two go down (that is, only two of the four are currently active).
We've failed over between the two that are actively up when we've had to
restart the databases due to patching, certain config changes, etc. In those
cases, they shutdown one, make the change, bring it up, and then do the same on
the other, pushing us back and forth between them.

I'm not sure about how we compare to what's listed under FAILOVER_MODE in your
entry. Perhaps we're using Oracle client defaults; I don't know what those
would be, however.

how to set up our connection strings properly...

I'd also be interested to hear if someone has figured out how to fail over
without affecting arserver or requiring a restart.

Oracle RAC failover

Sent by:

"Action Request System discussion list(ARSList)"

**
We've been running ARS 7.0 then upgraded to 7.1 with ITSM 7.0 using Oracle RAC
as the DB for the last 2 years. Everything is fine when everything is up, but
we discovered recently that the failover just doesn't work. SQLPlus sessions
from the ARS servers work fine and recover from the pause in the failover fine.
Remedy just doesn't seem to be able to handle it at all. The DBAs say that
the oracle errors I see in the ARS logs are normal for a failover--but the app
just can't handle it. Does anyone have oracle RAC working so that the failover
actually prevents all ARS failures?

sessions, I saw many new things and picked up a few items to try on a
couple of things that have been bugging me for a few years.

It did feel like the RUGs of old. Great technical information, renewal
of old acquaintances as well as establishing some new ones.

It was a great feeling and coming home felt like returning from a family

In answer to your question LJ, not sure how long you've been attending.
But this conference was very much like those of the 90's. Everyone
there was a Remedy person. Everyone had the same interests and more
than willingly to share their experiences. I hope we do keep this
format.

I really like the tutorials at the beginning of the day. Way back I
would take the tutorials before the actual conference started and
sometimes by Thursday your mind was in a major meltdown. I thought the
pace was just right this year. I also thought there was more time to
chat among ourselves which is of great value too. The variety of
sessions was good and the ones I attended for the most part were
technically orientated.

I always came home with ideas, and this year was no different. And it's
nice to get that shot of excitement. To want to try new things that you
can share next year.

I have to say, I was pleasantly pleased with the organization of the
event. From my view everything went very smooth, I'm sure at times the
organizers were scrambling, but it didn't show.

I'm ready to sign up for next year's WWRUG !! See you there,

2009-11-16 Thread Shellman, David
I just want to follow up on Susan's comments. Even though I was busy at times
behind the scenes, I sat in on Tutorials on Wednesday and Thursday as well as
sessions each afternoon. For me the tutorials were great reviews of courses I
took many many years ago. In the afternoon sessions, I saw many new things and
picked up a few items to try on a couple of things that have been bugging me
for a few years.

It did feel like the RUGs of old. Great technical information, renewal of old
acquaintances as well as establishing some new ones.

It was a great feeling and coming home felt like returning from a family
reunion.

In answer to your question LJ, not sure how long you've been attending. But
this conference was very much like those of the 90's. Everyone there was a
Remedy person. Everyone had the same interests and more than willingly to
share their experiences. I hope we do keep this format.

I really like the tutorials at the beginning of the day. Way back I would take
the tutorials before the actual conference started and sometimes by Thursday
your mind was in a major meltdown. I thought the pace was just right this
year. I also thought there was more time to chat among ourselves which is of
great value too. The variety of sessions was good and the ones I attended for
the most part were technically orientated.

I always came home with ideas, and this year was no different. And it's nice
to get that shot of excitement. To want to try new things that you can share
next year.

I have to say, I was pleasantly pleased with the organization of the event.
From my view everything went very smooth, I'm sure at times the organizers were
scrambling, but it didn't show.

I'm ready to sign up for next year's WWRUG !! See you there,

I too have seen issues with installing 7.5 but a manual import of the def

I think it is wise to move to patch1 - there are many issues resolved in it.

Re: Why Hostess Twinkies are a Remedy conference tradition

2009-11-16 Thread Peter Romain
I concur that it was a great conference and I am glad I attended from the UK.

Thanks to all the organisers and also to the attendees who made us
non-natives feel at home.

I collected a few Twinkies as they rained down on us.

Actually, rained down is probably not the right expression - they were
hurled with great expertise and never failed to hit their targets!

I was, however, put off from eating one when Joel told us what the cream
inside the Twinkies is made of. That's a fact that you don't want to know
when trying to enjoy a cake!

Cheers
