Mid-Tier 7.1p2 HTTP Error 400

2008-04-01 Thread Masha Bench

 Greetings All,
System specs for starters:
ARS7.1p2 Windows 2003 32 bit
Database Oracle 10g
Mid-tier 7.1p2 on RedHat 5.0 Apache 2.2 Tomcat 5.5 (remedy install) 64 bit

Installation went just fine, except Apache would not start because of the
Tomcat connector. The native Remedy installs the connector for 32 bit machine
when 64 is needed. So I reloaded the connector and Apache restarted just fine.
Apache serves up pages as it should, but when I go to
http:///arsys/shared/login.jsp
I get HTTP Error 400... Am I missing something? Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Re: Mid-Tier 7.1p2 HTTP Error 400

2008-04-01 Thread Lammey, Peter A.
>From what I have seen with the new Mid Tier 7.1 (vs Mid Tier 7.01 or earlier
>versions) is that now when you are redirected to the login.jsp page it now
>will include the path that the login page will take you. Example is below:

http:///arsys/shared/login.jsp?/arsys/forms//Home+Page/

(example if you have ITSM 7.02 installed).

It may be giving you the error because it expects you to provide a ? and the
path with /arsys/forms/ and the application server and form that you want to
open.

In the past versions of Mid Tier, when a user would be redirected to the
login.jsp page many of our users would bookmark the login.jsp page and when
they accessed that bookmark then would log in and the Mid Tier couldnt take
them anywhere so they would either relogin and call me in frustration or would
click on a link then that would then take them to their Home Page.

This new method now used can prevent this from happening with users going
forward.

What about the base Tomcat page at http://:8080 ? Does that
work?

Also, can you run a netstat on the Mid-Tier server to ensure that something
is listening on the ports you expect?

This command would do the trick:

netstat -pan | grep 80

Re: Mid-Tier 7.1p2 HTTP Error 400

2008-04-01 Thread strauss
Mid-tier is 32-bit ONLY, so it will need the 32-bit tomcat and
connector. I ran into this when testing with 64-bit IIS and
ServletExec, which also wants to run 64-bit on Win2K3 x64. I had to
manually replace the 64-bit connector with the 32-bit version in order
for mid-tier to use it, per the BMC documentation. I have since
eliminated that by using tomcat only for both app server and web server.

I'm not sure why you don't just use the tomcat web server and skip
apache to eliminate the connector, which just degrades performance - the
same way it does if you are on Windows and use IIS.

2008-04-01 Thread J.T. Shyman
Good point, Fred. If not it may be necessary to create a symlink in
/usr/share/tomcat/webapps called arsys that points to where the mid-tier
files were installed. Then a restart of tomcat may be needed.

2008-04-01 Thread strauss
Mid-tier 7.1.00.001 and .002 both install tomcat incorrectly on Win2K3
x64 systems - in the \Program Files\ path rather than the correct
\Program Files (x86)\ path for 32-bit apps, and it is a "known defect"
so you can't assume that it will install it correctly on your OS,
either. For other reasons related to patch 002, support finally had me
install the tomcat server manually, from a newer distribution - 5.5.26
rather than 5.5.17 - which also solved my SSL certificate problems.

Re: Mid-Tier 7.1p2 HTTP Error 400

2008-04-01 Thread Grooms, Frederick W
Actually I was talking about Mid-Tier into Tomcat, not where Tomcat was
installed.

I usually check the following
http://To see if Apache is listening (You
probably get the "Welcome to Apache" page)
http://:8080To see if Tomcat is listening (You
probably get the "Welcome to Tomcat" page)

If either of those do not work then you have to correct that problem
first.

I then try the Mid-Tier config page from Tomcat
http://:8080/arsys/shared/config/config.jsp
If that works I check it from Apache
http:///arsys/shared/config/config.jsp

If the Mid-Tier config page works under Tomcat but not under Apache then
there is some problem with the connector
It is not configured in the Apache server.xml or possibly not
installed

You can also check the Tomcat startup logs (in tomcat/logs) the
catalina.out to see if it started the arsys properties

Did you install the 7.1.0 p2 Mid-Tier into the tomcat/webapps/arsys
directory?

Subject: Mid-Tier 7.1p2 HTTP Error 400

 Greetings All,

System specs for starters:

ARS7.1p2 Windows 2003 32 bit

Database Oracle 10g

Mid-tier 7.1p2 on RedHat 5.0 Apache 2.2 Tomcat 5.5 (remedy install) 64
bit

Installation went just fine, except Apache would not start because of
the Tomcat connector. The native Remedy installs the connector for 32
bit machine when 64 is needed. So I reloaded the connector and Apache
restarted just fine. Apache serves up pages as it should, but when I go
to http:///arsys/shared/login.jsp
<http://%3cserver%3e/arsys/shared/login.jsp> I get HTTP Error 400... Am
I missing something? Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Re: Mid-Tier 7.1p2 HTTP Error 400

2008-04-01 Thread Masha Bench
Yep, I had just reinstalled the Tomcat (64 bit) manually, got that working
properly without arsys deployed, and then installed Mid-Tier.
It turned out to be a slew of problems... 32bit Remedy-Tomcat install and on my
side I was running out of space on /usr...

After manual reinstall of the correct Tomcat, it is working like it should.

Thank you everyone!

I let Remedy install Tomcat where it wanted it, so I assume it
is correct.
