Re: [Chevelle-List] Thrust bearing failure
I have heard of this same problem and it turned out to be a clogged oil hole passage. The BB Chevy has oil holes cross drilled in the block. Some have pipe plugs on the end of the holes one goes thru the oil filter area. Also on the back of the block if the pipe plugs go in too deep it can close off the oil hole. thrust bearing failure in a big block

Re: [Chevelle-List] wing windows
No, don't remove those rivets. That "post" is the swivel part of the window. If you have to crank your window open I'm not sure how it comes out. Pull your door panel and you should be able to see how it's connected. I'll look in a couple of my books and see if I can find any info. I'm sure it's not difficult to do. Re: [Chevelle-List] is this real?? I thought there was only a yenko deuce??
PREYes there were about 37 Yenko Novas sold in 1969 all were big block. Most had a 427/425hp transplanted in but there is some evidence that a few were left as 396/375hp. The 69 Yenko Camaro and Chevelle were factory 427 COPO cars but the 69 Nova was not. They started out as SS 396/375hp cars. In 1970 Yenko ordered LT1 COPO Novas to build the Yenko Deuce. - To Unsubscribe please visit www.chevelles.net/list.html To start a new topic, send mail to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

They are a billion dollar a year corporation who primary objective is to make money. Do you think that they are going to scorn this guy who makes them about 1,000.00 on month in commissions. Look at the Power seller logo, this means he does over 2,000.00 a month in e-bay sales and gets to have that on his site. E-bay does not care about the little guy who gets burned by a seller and you basically have no re-course in the matter also. The seller has all the advantages to the buyer. When you buy from a seller you put your trust in him that what he sells its what you expect to get, but if it doesnt meet your expectations your screwed. And if your purchased your item through Paypal you have no re-course either, t! hey do not get your money back on items that do not meet the description, if its not as advertised your screwed again. So the only re-course you may have is to give the guy a negative feedback, but with over 5,000 positives what is one more negativeJust my opinion.Have bought many things from him and returned a few as well with no problems. Maybe the guy is on vacation or away on business ( this is normally e-bay's response ) Good Luck

Re: [Chevelle-List] Thrust bearing failure
Bill, Check the oil pump carefully. It must be seated properly. Also I'd have the crank "mic'd" to ensure that it hasn't been turned. If it has, you have to have the proper undersize bearings or they'll go out everytime. It also may need to be turned if it's out of round or has any rough spots. Both will cause bearing failure. Another thing is check the end play of the crankshaft with all bearings installed. If the crank is moving back forth it'll kill the thrust bearing. These are just some ideas, hope they help. Don Has anyone on the list ever experienced thrust bearing failure in a big block? I have been through my engine three different times and installed three sets of main bearings. Today I fired it up after completely disassembling it and painstakingly measuring everything and reassembling it again. It immediately began to chew up the thrust face of the rear main. I find what looks like gold pearl in the oil filter almost immediately. Ive tried three different torque converters and two different transmissions with the same results. Oil pressure is 60+ pounds warmed up and this time I chamfered the rear main to provide more oil to the thrust face. Still no fix. Ive never been this close to giving up on a project in my life. I love building engines because usually they are logical creatures not this one. Im ready to start over with a new block and rotating assembly, I dont know what else to do. I have not been able, nor have my racing, engine building and machine shop friends been able to figure out why this motor hates its thrust bearing. Someone help me before I build that big block Ford I have in the garage to put in my Chevelle. Bill Vander Werf

Re: [Chevelle-List] 66-67 Kick panels
Hi Jason, As long as the 67 kickpanels fit my 66 and look like they fit, I'm not too concerned about the quality of the speakers. I like how thepanels look like theyweren'thackedup to fit the speakers. If the speakers sound that bad, I can always get a better pair. I would prefer to buy the panels w/o the speakers, but for some reason the Chevelle model is the only one not available w/o speakers. Of course, if I was building a different kind of car, then that's the one that wouldn't be available w/o speakers! :) cYa- Herb Lumpp1966 El CaminoACES 3509, MCC 528http://users.adelphia.net/~hlump/ - Original Message - From: jason pollock To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Saturday, December 28, 2002 1:03 PM Subject: Re: [Chevelle-List] 66-67 Kick panels herb, the difference between the 66 and 67 kick panels is..the 67 panels have the vent pulls as an integral part of the panel.the area the panels mount to should be in theory carbon copies.have you heard the speakers Herb?, i would try to check them before you buy.jason pollockOn Saturday, December 28, 2002, at 12:37 PM, Herbert Lumpp wrote: Thanks for the info, but unfortunately, it doesn't help - I should have worded my question better. What I want to do is order a set of Custom Autosound kick panels w/ speakers http://www.custom-autosound.com/chevelle_kick_panel_speakers.htm.The only one offered for 66 isnon-AC while the 67is for AC.
