Re: Failed CID (640-025)....
Yes, the StrataCom materials are only found in the Cisco course materials and the Sybex book. They are not even in the objectives listing, which would seem very unfair. Other than Rishard's correct indication of the backplane I would only suggest assuming that the 'best' / highest number that sounds reasonable would make a fine guess. Rarely does an exam illustrate deficiencies in a product... ;) --- Rishard Chapoteau <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > The BPX not BGX switch has a 9.6 Gps backplane. > Chapter 21 of the Cid > course. The BPX not BGX switch has a 9.6 Gps backplane. Chapter 21 of the Cid course. If you only read the Cisco press book you wouldn't see it. Its a stratacom switch. Re: Failed CID (640-025)....
Actually, I passed this one the first time around, albeit with a 670 (650 needed). I felt a little guilty until I found out that our resident CCIE passed with a 690. So take your failure with a little grain of salt. Poor CID performance has nothing to do with poor design ability. RE: Failed CID (640-025)....
I deal with SNA and Token Ring on an almost weekly basis. A number of big banks still have this as the mainstay of their network. IPX is still out there in hundreds of thousands of networks and ATM is a major player as well. Just because "you" don't deal with these on a regular basis, does not mean they don't exist. If you want the certification, then you must learn to deal with what's out there - and all of these are out there in big numbers. The ONLY reason you need to care about those things (in this case) on the exam is the fact that they are *on the exam* Whether they are of great relevance to you or anyone else for that matter is of little consequence. Re: Failed CID (640-025)....
If you got 500 and need 650 do you really think you'll be in a position to take it on Monday? Failing never feels good, I've failed an exam a time or two. But I think you should suck back and reload. If you needed that info this time what makes you think those questions won't come up again? As far the MGX/BPX/IGX series of switches go, the lack of info has been talked about on this list before. Personally, I was thankful that the Boson test had questions on those switches and I was somewhat prepared for them. As to SNA and Token Ring, it's out there and a designer has to deal with it. It's still on the CCIE ticket so you may as well know it now. It is always a challenge to work someplace that doesn't give you the exposure you need to advance but that's what self-study/courses/renting rack time/personal lab... are all about. I'm not really getting down on you but it sounds like you didn't expect the exam to kick your @ss. There have been many posts here that the CID is not any "normal" exam. If you go for it on Monday - good luck, but save yourself more grief - get a Boson prep exam. It really sucked when almost 20% of the questions were SNA, 20% were Token Ring I had a few ATM WAN Switches, but I have never needed or seen one before. Working at a content provider I don't have the luxury to order a strand of fiber and try to make a ATM network off of it. Question: What is the backplane of the BGX ATM Switch Have? a) 9.6 gbps b) 1.2 gbps c) 45 mbps d) I have never seen a BGX ATM Switch before. Lame... Lame... Lame... I'll be retaking this exam on Monday. Score: 500/1000, 650 needed to pass. _ FAQ, list archives, and subscription info: http://www.groupstudy.com/list/cisco.html Report misconduct and Nondisclosure violations to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
