Well. You're right this is not a really good changelog entry.
The Version of the utility cannot be changed because of the freeze.
The 7.1 is what *distribution* version the MandrakeUpdate is now made for.

Please read the docs. It is only a problem if you use needs=X11. In that
case, yes, people will need a x11 web browser to view howtos.
In another life, I've seen things such as needs=dwww for html documentation.

What we could do is to add a line in each WM we have for the menu-method
file between supported an endsupported, to support these kind of dwww.

OK. May be too much work for now, but should absolutely be supported for
our next releases

Nope, a wrapper like this one is required:
  if [ -x /usr/X11R6/bin/netscape ] ;
netscape $@
  elsif [ -x /usr/X11R6/bin/kfm ] ;
kfm $@

Traditionnaly ctags has always been tied with VI. ctags can be used on any
source file, whatever it has been created with. And these editors can use the
tags:
   vi(1) and its many derivatives
   emacs
   CRiSP
   FTE (Folding Text Editor)
   Lemmy
   NEdit
   TSE (The SemWare Editor)
   Zeus

So I guess it's time for ctags to have its own package.

Here is what I suggest:

- remove ctags-3.2-xmdk.i586.rpm and ctags-3.2-xmdk.i586.src.rpm from cooker
- Inform the ctags maintainer that its package just disappeared.
- make vim.spec generate a ctags-3.4-xmdk.i586.rpm from the vim sources
- make vim-common depends on ctags.

QA, could you do the first two steps, I'll do the two others.

  Thanks,

I have bad news about this. I've tried to compile gnumeric 0.52 with
bonobo 0.9 (both latest version) and it looks like gnumeric wants a more
recent (i.e cvs) version of bonobo.

Well. I don't know. But I really think it is worst to have empty sections
than to have sections without icons.

Isn't it possible for menu to test is a section actually exists before
creating it? I guess it's not an easy thing to do, but nothing is really
impossible for you, isn't it?

How the user is supposed to exit the X session, now that the default menu
has disappeared for the 'Menu' one? Ctrl-Alt-BackSpace isn't a solution.

I think we should add an 'Exit' entry somewhere.

Ok. I've just downloaded and install it.

Here's my first impressions:

  - It really looks like a complete suite, good,
  - Good overall works,
  - I don't like the widget set, but everybody knows that :)
(I guess it is themable, isn't it? so this isn't a big deal...)
  - In KWord:
- If you're on the last Tab of a line and you press the 'Tab' key,
the cursor is moved on the first Tab of the next line when I
expected it to go to the beginning of the next line.
- The use of Tab with Enumerated list make Kword segfault.
I know, it is not something we're supposed to use every day but it
  shouldn't SegFault.

I've not gone any further for now.

David Faure, please don't take these as criticisms but merely as bug
reports. Koffice looks great and is a great project, even if I'm a GTK-geek
:)

Yes, also. The thruth is gtk-config is build upon glib-config and the
superfluous paths really came from glib-config.

Yes. Weird. /usr/lib/glib/include is a very weird place to put a .h file.
Anyway, this is the standard place for this file, as decided by the GTK team.
Don't ask me why, this may have something to do with FHS...

That's why you should always use:
  gcc -c foo.c -o foo.o `glib-config --cflags`

Don't be offended, Chmouel. Last release of DrakConf you made was
0.37-1mdk, but the DrakConf.spec said 0.34-1mdk.

So I've increased the release number and we then have 0.34-2mdk which is
< 0.37-1mdk. At this point every thing was screwed up.

My point was : you changed DrakConf.spec version number without changing
the Makefile accordingly, and that upseted me.

Sorry, but your patch is very wrong.

If you have a look at the Makefile, you'll noticed that savelogo-alpha.c
is really a link from savelogo-i386.c, so the problem should be elsewhere.
I can't understand why this link isn't created for you though.

savelogo.c:

  ln -sf savelogo-$(ARCH).c savelogo.c

[Cooker] New Widgets for GTK+

2000-02-22 Thread David Odin (aka DindinX)

   Hi,

I hope it's the right mailing list :)

I've made two new widget to use with GTK+' apps.
The first one let the user easily chose a directory.
The second one is a 'help' button: a simple button with 'help'
written on it. When the user click on it, an helpfile is shown in a
  window.

I think these could be usefull to all MandrakeSoft developpers who use GTK+

Anyhow, I don't know where to put this. It's not an rpm packages yet but it
could be. I'm currently makeing a configure script for it.

It could go to cooker-contrib, but I rather think it is an internal
development tool. What do you think?

If you have any particular need for a custom widget. Let me know, I will
add it to this package.

Regards,

 DindinX

I'm afraid I'm not allowed to remove the old ctags-3.2.rpm from cooker.
I can upgrade it to the 3.4 version though. But I don't think it is
useful to people who don't use vim.

The previous mail is an automated message. Everytime we build a new
release, a message like this is generated. The url isn't given each time,
because, each time, the url is the same. All packages annonced on this list
can be found on every cooker mirror on the planet, usually in the
/pub/linux/mandrake-devel/cooker/Mandrake/RPMS directory.

You'll find a comprehensive list of cooker mirrors on:

OK. I finally understand this thread!!!

It's my fault, it's my own fault. Shame on me...
I was wondering why people doesn't use the ctags bundled with the vim RPM.
I guess this is because *I* didn't included ctags in the RPM.
I'm going to fix this right now.

It's a POSIX compatibility fix. The ctags bundled with vim is 3.4, which
fixes some bugs. The standalone version of ctags is 3.2 and should be updated
or deprecated. Chmouel, what do you think ?
Should we remove Ctags-3.2 from cooker or should I make a standalone 3.4
version ?

ctags looks good to me :-/
At least, the ctags program that comes with vim works great with wim.
I've seen that we ship a standalone ctags packages that produce a slightly
 different format for tags files.
   What should I do?
 - Fix the standalone ctags package? But this could break other packages
   that depends on it.
 - Fix vim so it can read standalone ctags files?

AFAIU the documentation, vim ctags is 'exuberant ctags', so it is normal that
it produce a different tags. Vim should be able to read 3 differents format
of tags, though:
1.  {tagname}   {TAB} {tagfile} {TAB} {tagaddress}
2.  {tagfile}:{tagname} {TAB} {tagfile} {TAB} {tagaddress}
3. {tagname} {TAB} {tagfile} {TAB} {tagaddress} {term} {field} ..

vim's ctags produce the last one and vim is happy with it.

Could you please try and tell me what's wrong/what to do?

  Thanks,

[Cooker] Problems with Pro Audio SoundCard

2000-01-06 Thread David Odin (aka DindinX)

  Hi,

I'm using Oxygen, release of 12/28/1999

I've just noted that the Mediavision (Pro Audio Spectrum 16) sound card
isn't in the list of soundconfig. And there're problems with insmoding it
by hand:
[root@localhost ~]# insmod soundcore
[root@localhost ~]# insmod soundlow
[root@localhost ~]# insmod sound
[root@localhost ~]# insmod pas2
/lib/modules/2.2.14-11mdk/misc/pas2.o: init_module: Périphérique ou ressource
occupé

The same sound card works perfectly with Debian/kernel-2.3.36

  Any clue?
