Re: [Cooker] Latest Cooker install issues - PROBLEM FOUND
Found the problem. After a fresh install with latest Cooker, it seems to recognize the TV Tuner audio cipset (which it never did before!) The btaudio module was taking precedence over the standard sound device (/dev/dsp) This should actually come AFTER the standard sound device (ES1371) I found my system works just fine without the btaudio! Strange. As I made a test install (that was with Cooker from last Sunday), I've used a single xfs partition. It resulted in "noatime" and "notail" in fstab. The partition was previously formatted with reiserfs, but I doubt that this plays a role. Cheers, Andreas

Playing with the installer I created a XFS root fs. Booting with that failed, because the notail option was in /etc/fstab. XFS does not understand this, too. Cheers, Andreas

with earlier versions of mandrake I was able to drop out of X-windows as an option from the login window. Now I can either install it to invoke X-windows automatically or install it to end at the command line. I can change automatic log-in and reboot if I want to get out of X-windows to install something from the command line, but that is a pain.

[Cooker] Install issues
I tried an install from the latest cooker on one of my test systems and had an issue with journaled file systems. 1. Could not create a reiserfs volume. Tried changing an ext3 partition to a reiserfs partiton. The installer said it could not format the partition. 2. Tried just reformatting partition to ext3. That went fine, but upon reboot the filesystem could not be remounted read-write. 3. ext2 is ok. 4. If it matters and I had the security setting set to high. 5. There is already a bootable linux running on the disk that is a reiserfs file system. The journal file systems were being installed to /dev/hda3. -randy

[Cooker] Install issues and XFree86 V4.0 item.
1. Nice overall improvement on the installer! 2. But... One thing that seems to halt the installation dead in it's track is theinclusion of more than one Windows ( FAT or NTFS ) file system. My system has 3 Windows file systems ( NTFS, FAT, NTFS for VMWare ) and I could not finish the install until I prevented two of the file systems from beingmounted. 3. I have G400 and I also have the invisible pointer problem. I'd really like to know how to fix that... XFree86 V4 seems to be much faster ( or at least from kdm paints its screen...) 4. When you tell fontdrake to look for look for your windows fonts it want's to know where C:\Windows is at. Perhaps a better question to have it ask is where the Windows file system is mounted... 5. Not a bug but a request. It would be nice when you are in individual package selection to be able to select/deselect the category. -randy
[Cooker] Install Issues
I am using an Ultra ATA/66 HD with an Abit BP6 motherboard and really like the speed improvement over ATA/33 in windows. I saw that Red Hat 6.2 was out and downloaded just to find that it has no support for Ultra ATA/66. I know you have said that Mandrake cooker now supports Ultra ATA/66. I downloaded cooker and tried to install it from my HD using the hd.img but it crashes with some termination error 11 thing at the select partion and path screen no matter what I type. I'll burn it to a cd, but it's 773 MB and I was wondering what is safe to cut out so it will fit. I know people have asked this question before but I don't remember. Thanks for the help! Eric H
