[CnD] Crockpot Sugared Pecans

2018-01-17 Thread Sugar Lopez via Cookinginthedark
Crockpot Sugared Pecans

10 ounces pecans

½ cup melted unsalted butter

1 cup powdered sugar

Cinnamon mixed with sugar to taste

Brown sugar in small amount, if desired

Turn slow cooker to HIGH about 15 minutes in advance.

In hot slow cooker, stir together the pecans and butter.

Add the powdered sugar, stirring to blend and coat evenly.

Cover and cook on HIGH for 15 minutes.

Reduce heat to LOW and remove lid;

cook, uncovered, stirring occasionally, for approximately 2 to 2 ½ hours, or
until the pecans are coated with a crisp glaze.

You can feel them with clean fingers or till they feel a bit sticky with a
fork.

I usually touch them to make sure they are completely covered.

I personally like the brown sugar best but that is your choice.

You can also have a mixture of both.

Transfer the nuts to a bowl.

In another small bowl, combine the cinnamon and sugars; sift over the nuts,
stirring to coat evenly.

The amount of sweetness you add to the pecans is up to you.

Let cool before serving.

You can substitute walnuts for pecans.

Sometimes, it helps to roll the fish in egg and then in the batter. The egg
helps the batter stick.

Hi Vera.

I believe the trick is to dip the items to be cooked in flour before
dipping them in batter. Hope this helps.

Cheers

Hi Gary I felt bad about goofing the recipe so I redid it correctly

I hope this is easier:

Sugar

Honey Glazed Baby Carrots

What you need:

1bag (1 lb) ready-to-eat baby-cut carrots

2tablespoons honey

1tablespoon butter or margarine

Ground nutmeg, if desired

Salt to taste(optional)

Directions:

In 2-quart saucepan, place carrots in 1 inch of water.

Heat to boiling; reduce heat to low.

Cover; simmer 10 to 15 minutes or until tender.(use a fork to feel how tender
you want them)

Drain well.

Add honey and butter to carrots in saucepan.

Cook, stirring frequently, until butter is melted and carrots are glazed.

You can do this by feeling around with a fork or with clean fingers. Smile

Making sure they are all covered.

Sprinkle with nutmeg. And salt if desired

For an extra touch of color and flavor, serve the cooked carrots with a
sprinkle of finely chopped fresh parsley.

Marilyn, Thank you for the cake mix instructions. I never thought to put them
in one single document, but it makes sense to put the branded moist ones
together as you did here.

I think she may have meant salt water or just water but adding some salt when

Hi Gary I felt bad about goofing the recipe so I redid it correctly

I hope this is easier:

Sugar

Honey Glazed Baby Carrots

What you need:

1bag (1 lb) ready-to-eat baby-cut carrots

2tablespoons honey

1tablespoon butter or margarine

Ground nutmeg, if desired

Salt to taste(optional)

Directions:

In 2-quart saucepan, place carrots in 1 inch of water.

Heat to boiling; reduce heat to low.

Cover; simmer 10 to 15 minutes or until tender.(use a fork to feel how tender
you want them)

Drain well.

Add honey and butter to carrots in saucepan.

Cook, stirring frequently, until butter is melted and carrots are glazed.

You can do this by feeling around with a fork or with clean fingers. Smile

Making sure they are all covered.

Sprinkle with nutmeg. And salt if desired

For an extra touch of color and flavor, serve the cooked carrots with a
sprinkle of finely chopped fresh parsley.

You can add salt if you want, I don't use much salt so if you do I'd use about
1/2 tea spoon

Could that be salted water? If so, quantities for water and salt would help.

Could that be salted water? If so, quantities for water and salt would
help.

Re: [CnD] Pantry/covered what should be in there?

2018-01-17 Thread Pamela Fairchild via Cookinginthedark
There are two ways to use milk powder, buttermilk or otherwise. You can make
the milk up according to the package dirrections and use it like fresh milk.
Alternatively, you can mix the amount of milk powder to your dry ingredients
that you would have used to mix the milk separately and mix it thoroughly with
the dry ingredients, then add the amount of required extra water to your wet
ingredients.
You would use the second method in cases where you try to save time by
premixing the dry ingredients the day before you want to do your baking.

Thanks to you all, I liked all your suggestions but my question to some of you
when you use powdered milk or powdered buttermilk do you just put it in the
recipe or do you add liquid to it before it goes into what recipe calls for?
Forgive me I don’t always bake and I would like to start doing things like this
