Bug#794634: Change package name

2016-08-27 Thread Lumin
Control: retitle -1 ITP: meta-torch-core-free -- A scientific
computing framework for LuaJIT (core components)

Hi,

Since the torch project involves many components, I respectively
made packages for every core and free component. All the *core*
and *free* modules of Torch will be ready soon, and I plan to make
a metapackage src:meta-torch-core-free (bin:torch-core-free)
which pulls the whole torch core stack for the user.

So, lua-torch is actually not existing, this bug can be renamed to
meta-torch-core-free.

Bug#835658: RFS: backbone/1.3.3+ds-1

2016-08-27 Thread Julien Puydt

Package: sponsorship-requests
Severity: normal

  Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for the package "backbone"

 * Package name: backbone
   Version : 1.3.3+ds-1
   Upstream Author : Jeremy Ashkenas
 * URL : https://github.com/documentcloud/backbone/
 * License : Expat
   Section : web

  It builds those binary packages:

libjs-backbone - some Backbone for JavaScript applications -
browser library

node-backbone - some Backbone for JavaScript applications - Node module

To access further information about this package, please visit the
following URL:

  https://mentors.debian.net/package/backbone

Alternatively, one can download the package with dget using this command:

dget -x
https://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/b/backbone/backbone_1.3.3+ds-1.dsc

It is packaged in the Debian Javascript Maintainers team's repositories:
Vcs-Git: https://anonscm.debian.org/git/pkg-javascript/backbone
Vcs-Browser: https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/pkg-javascript/backbone.git

I'm not the original packager and the package was two years old (still
using cdbs!), so it took a bit of work to get something going ;
hopefully I got it back on its feet.

The new changelog entry is:
backbone (1.3.3+ds-1) unstable; urgency=medium
 * Team upload.
 * New upstream release (Closes: #746787, #797698).
 * Bump standards-version.
 * Use https in Vcs-* fields.
 * Drop obsolete patch to support newer underscore.
 * Rewrite the patch to use Debian-packaged libraries.
 * Move away from cdbs.
 * Update d/copyright.
 * Rewrite depends/buil-depends.
 * Don't ship minimized files.

Bug#835657: Allow user to set proxy for separate accounts

2016-08-27 Thread M0xkLurk3r
Package: kmail
Version: 4:16.04.3-1
Severity: wishlist

As known some popular mail service was unavailable in Red China, someone like
Gmail, etc. The way to keep it available in KMail is set an abroad proxy. But
the problem is someone else "censorship-friendly" mail service did not need
proxy, and their traffic may slow down if the proxy configured as overall, even
(evilly situation) make the mail provider got any notice about my proxy server,
and tip-off these situation to the state.

So here is an wishlist, i hope the further version could allow user to set
proxy for separate accounts (mainly gmail), and aother account transport
directly or apply another proxy configuration.

Bug#835656: Generate bootable image for DragonBoard 410c

2016-08-27 Thread Martin Michlmayr
Package: u-boot
Version: 2016.09~rc1+dfsg1-1
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch

In #824955 (add dragonboard410c target), we discussed that u-boot
needs to be wrapped into a specific image file using the skales tools
so the device can boot it. Riku Voipio has packaged the skales tools
in the meantime and they are in unstable.

Attached is a patch that uses the skales tools to generate a bootable
image.

+the volume down (-) button (S4) and turn on the device to go into

+
+You have two options: you can load U-Boot without flashing it (for
+example to test U-Boot) or you can flash it to the device.
+
+In order to load U-Boot without flashing it, run this command:
+

I just had a quick hack on the source, I've attached a modified version of the
3.1.1-3 patches that applies to the 3.2.1 release.

When I try to build I get the following error. What's the preferred solution
to this? Trying to get it to work with Automake 1.15 is probably unreasonably
difficult (everything with Automake is horrible). Is there a good way of
building with automake1.11 when automake-1.15 is installed?

dh_autoreconf ./autogen.sh
+ checking for automake >= 1.12 ... found 1.15, ok.
Sorry, automake 1.12+ is not supported yet, please use 1.11.
dh_autoreconf: ./autogen.sh returned exit code 1

Bug#835654: RFH: net-snmp -- SNMP configuration script, MIBs and documentation

2016-08-27 Thread Hideki Yamane
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I request assistance with maintaining the net-snmp package.

I was active maintainer from Jan 2013 to Apr 2015 but lost interest in it,
other members in team seems to be busy. So, someone who want to continue to
use snmp will be the maintainer is welcome.

The package description is:
The Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) provides a framework
for the exchange of management information between agents (servers)
 and clients.
 .
This package includes net-snmp-config scripts, documentation and MIBs
(Management Information Bases) for the SNMP libraries, agents and
applications. MIBs contain a formal description of the data that can be
 managed using SNMP and applications.
 .
NOTE: If you want the OIDs (Object Identifiers) to resolve to their text
description, you need to activate the non-free repository and install the
 "snmp-mibs-downloader" package.

that for packages removed from testing, the output flips around, with
one package being first on one day and then the other bug the next.
This should be easy to fix with a sort, so is suitable for a newcomer.

net-snmp package has many bugs, so I tried to fix as I could (closing
70-80 bugs is probably enough), but too much.

I'll step down from maintainer since now I don't use net-snmp, and ask
for help someone will be the maintainer.

Bug#835461: [Pkg-xfce-devel] Bug#835461: light-locker breaks suspend/resume with nvidia legacy 340 drivers

2016-08-27 Thread Michael Westwind
A bit more information. It doesn't really have anything to do with
suspend. If I run "light-locker-command -l" it does the same thing. I am
able to ssh in to the laptop with no difficulty after locking it, but none
of the other commands have any effect, and if I kill light-locker it does
not help. I can restart lightdm from ssh, but that doesn't help me a great
deal.

I think I may have some good information from a test I ran though. I
killed light-locker remotely and then restarted it in debug mode, then
locked it with the command on the laptop. The result was a whole lot of
dbus error messages. I found references to similar error messages
resulting from nvidia drivers of a similar age. I understand your
unwillingness to support a proprietary driver which is buggy anyway, but if
this helps you improve the program, that is great. If you want me to try
something, I am willing.

Thanks for the info.
Unfortunately I'm neither maintaining nor interested in maintaing
tvtime (I just fixed a bug in the package); the issue is already
tracked in the Debian BTS at
https://bugs.debian.org/653376
so I'm cc'ing this bug report now.

Thanks, Steven.

I tried the patch: bmon compiled so I was able to install it however it did
not show any network interfaces on kFreeBSD...

I've opened bug with upstream:

Bug#835651: lakai: Please, add a Homepage field and update the watch file

2016-08-27 Thread Joao Eriberto Mota Filho
Package: lakai
Version: 0.1-1
Severity: normal
Tags: newcomer patch

Dear Maintainer,

Currently, your package doesn't point to a upstream homepage. Please, add
a Homepage field to debian/control file as shown below:

Homepage: http://lakai.sf.net/index.shtml

Consequently, you can update/fix the debian/watch file. I have a suggestion
for it:

version=4
http://sf.net/lakai/lakai-(\d\S+)\.tar\.(?:bz2|gz|xz) debian uupdate

I hope this help.

Why do you believe it's a toolchain issue? This symbol is something
clearly need, so it should not be removed by the versioning scripts when
building executable.

Looking at codesearch.debian.net, it seems that there are a few packages
exporting it in the versioning script, at least: mplayer, lua (recently
patched), firefox, libspf2, julia and asterisk. Now it seems that
version scripts on executable are not that common, so I don't know if we
can conclude anything from that.

I'm nervous of going too far down the path of legalisms.

Asking those who need the scripts to prove (or even say) they still need
them is not what we want.

However if someone is having difficulty maintaining the scripts or they
are broken, it is reasonable for them to ask for help, and if no one
steps forward, eventually the scripts will become buggy enough that the
normal severity bug of a package without an init script is better than
the state of a package with a broken init script.

Similarly, if the community of people who care about sysvinit is
unwilling to spend the time keeping it working, eventually sysvinit as a
whole will be unmaintained and buggy.

I agree on this too. To the extent it should be considered
time-limited, it should be «until N releases after sysvinit is removed»
or somesuch, if that happens.

In legal terms, in law, it would be considered that the burden of proof
lies with those who want to remove it.

Asking the supporters of those scripts to prove that they still need
them would be considered an unreasonable burden.

The burden of proof would be laid with the ones who want to remove it.

I think any kind of time-limited removal that you pronounce in advance,
is irrational.

"My grandmother used that" is not a good reason.

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

I believe the version of this package for Debian 7 installations
("OldStable") is *critically* out of date and still has the CVEs that
have been addressed by later versions 1:3.6.1 in "Stable" or 1:3.7
"Testing" and "Unstable". Whilst I appreciate that "Wheezy" is long in
the tooth, it still should be getting security updates for a little
while longer!

For the record, backporting by hand-editing in the differences between
3.2 and 3.7 into the 3.2 version does seem to do the job - the
diagnostic stuff below does not represent the exact state of a Wheezy
system because I got fed up with the FireFox blacklisting of the old
flashplayer version so manually installed it myself and dropped it into
the "alternatives" system but other users of "OldStable" might not be so
able to munge things themselves...

Regards

Stephen

Bug#835648: wpasupplicant: suspend takes very long due to problematic system-sleep hook

Aug 27 23:41:04 notes systemd-sleep[18924]: Suspending system...

Disabling the /lib/systemd/system-sleep/wpasupplicant script fixes the problem
for me. From what NetworkManagers prints to the journal it seems to me that
the /lib/systemd/system-sleep/wpasupplicant script is unnecessary, and since
it makes suspend take 10 seconds longer, it is actually not just unnecessary,
but harmful.

I suspend the system by invoking "systemctl suspend" via acpid.

I tried to research this a bit. If I manually invoke

dbus-send --print-reply --system --dest=org.freedesktop.NetworkManager
/org/freedesktop/NetworkManager org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.Sleep
boolean:true

and then try to "/sbin/wpa_cli suspend", I always get:

Failed to connect to non-global ctrl_ifname: (nil) error: No such file or
directory

Seems to me then that the 10s delay I'm getting is a race condition between NM
sleeping and wpa_cli attempting to suspend. It's also interesting that on my
hardware (ThinkPad T420, Intel(R) Centrino(R) Advanced-N 6205 AGN, REV=0xB0)
wpa_cli suspend does nothing at all -- after invoking it and getting OK, wifi
stays connected and pings.

I also looked into dbus-monitor output and in my case NM drops the inhibitor
only after putting both eth and wlan devices offline, unlike in the launchpad
issue that the /lib/systemd/system-sleep/wpasupplicant is trying to fix.

No, the version in Stretch also uses httpredir.debian.org, which is
the same as http.debian.net.

But the mirror found in /usr/share/lxc/templates/lxc-debian:

http://http.debian.net/debian

Does not actually work for installing the base minimal system with
debootstrap.

httpredir.debian.org/http.debian.net is just a redirector.
I don't fully know how it decides which mirror to redirect you to, but
those are the source of your issue.
http://http.debian.net/demo.html tells you which mirror it tries to
redirect you to.
I think the maintainer of http.debian.net will love to know which
mirrors are defective.

It will simply fail to find many files. Upon removing the mirror from
the file, the problem is fixed.

Then debootstrap uses ftp.debian.org. Yeah.

http.debian.net has worked quite fine as a default, and I think just
using ftp.d.o will not be good for many users.

I am running the thing from a non-javascript host (only text) so I
cannot use that page.

It is also hard to reproduce, sometimes eventually the thing will
succeed, but if I retry individual downloads that fail, like:

wget -v -O
/tmp/weird//var/cache/apt/archives/partial/liblzma5_5.1.1alpha+20120614-2+b3_amd64.deb
http://http.debian.net/debian/pool/main/x/xz-utils/liblzma5_5.1.1alpha+20120614-2+b3_amd64.deb

Then I get success and it even connects to ftp.nl.debian.org (at
location 130.89.149.21).

Also all downloads stop failing after a certain point; they don't just
fail haphazardly. So either something goes wrong in the script, which
would be odd (I have captured the wget output (command lines)) or there
is a mirror that will stop responding when queried too much.

Let me just install a 0.5 second delay into the thing, see what it does.

And indeed, with even a 0.3 second delay (for each download) I cannot
reproduce failure. There is a server that will ban you momentary if you
download too much and too fast.

It might be that same 130.89.149.21. Let me try. Yup, that same mirror.
This is not an ftp mirror, it is http:

Hi,

Whilst working on the Reproducible Builds effort [0], I noticed
that dh-lua emits non-deterministic substvars.

This causes dependant packages (eg. luasocket) to be unreproducible.

Patch attached.

Bug#835645: libavformat: users of new AVStream.codecpar field do not get tighter dependencies

2016-08-27 Thread James Cowgill
Package: libavformat57
Version: 7:3.1.2-1
Severity: important
Control: affects -1 mpv

Hi,

Currently if mpv is installed with an old (3.0) version of
libavformat57, it segfaults. This appears to be due to mpv using the new
AVStream.codecpar field.

In relation to the recent ffmpeg ABI issues the timeline is:
3.1.0:
codecpar was added in the public API section of AVStream

3.1.1:
codecpar was moved to the end of AVStream as a workaround to fix (other)
applications using various private fields from AVStream. Adding the
field to the middle of the struct broke applications here.

Since it was originally added to the public API section, it seems like
it should be treated as such. Any application which uses the new
codecpar field should therefore get tighter dependencies (>= 3.1.1).

On a related note, two other fields were moved to fix ABI issues, but
since these fields are not public, I don't think anything needs updating
in the ffmpeg package to handle them.
AVFilterLink.hw_frames_ctx in 1eb43af1a0e542ad83dcbf327197785d815fc42d
AVFrame.hw_frames_ctx in 77473002898f1dce18761c8a9bca48a8fe888d2e

On implementing this, maybe you could bump these symbols to 3.1.1, which
seem to be the only legal ways of obtaining an AVStream? This does seem
a little fragile though - symbol files aren't very convenient for
handling changes to structs.
 avformat_alloc_context
 avformat_alloc_output_context2
 avformat_new_stream
 avformat_open_input

After this is done, mpv will need binNMUing.

https://github.com/mpv-player/mpv/issues/3463

Bug#835643: suricata: conffile move wrong source extension

2016-08-27 Thread phn
Package: suricata
Version: 3.1.1-3
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

in postinst i see:
dpkg-maintscript-helper mv_conffile \
  /etc/suricata/suricata-debian.yml /etc/suricata/suricata.yaml \
  3.1-1 suricata -- "$@"

should not the suricata-debian.yml be .yaml instead of .yml ?

Best regards
Alban

That fixes the DW_DMAC dependency, but we also have some drivers
selecting SND_SST_IPC_ACPI and others (including this one) depending
on SND_SST_IPC_ACPI=n.

Shouldn't there be a cpu_to_fdt32() conversion here?

Bug#820645: [flashplugin-nonfree] Still not done on OldStable

2016-08-27 Thread Stephen Lyons
Package: flashplugin-nonfree
Version: 1:3.2+wheezy1

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

As I am speaking about OldStable the message "We believe that the bug
you reported is fixed in the latest version of flashplugin-nonfree,
which is due to be installed in the Debian FTP archive." does not
really seem applicable!

I am not seeing the fix in the repositories I'm using. In hindsight I
realise that this topic pales into insignificance when compared to the
failure to update to the latest CVE-fixing one! So I'll not worry about
it as it will get fixed when that grave one is fixed.

Bug#835640: firefox: Accept-Language doesn't respect default intl.accept_language if a l10n pack is active

2016-08-27 Thread Ильяс Гасанов
Package: firefox
Version: 48.0-1
Severity: normal
Tags: l10n

Hello,

Whenever I use Firefox installed from Debian repositories with a non-English
language pack to browse the web, among the HTTP headers it sends:

> Accept-Language: en-US,en;q=0.5

However the preference intl.accept_language is set to "ru-RU, ru, en-US, en" by
default for me. This doesn't happen with upstream Firefox downloaded from
mozilla.org - for which in the headers I get:

> Accept-Language: ru-RU,ru;q=0.8,en-US;q=0.5,en;q=0.3

This is already a known issue, though I'm not sure if it was properly reported
to the maintainers. The Ubuntu team might know something about it, but I
haven't seen any mention of this problem on Debian mailing lists and
bugtrackers. The link for its discussion on Mozilla's bugtracker is below.

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1005640

Kind regards, and thanks in advance,
Ilyas Gasanov

Shouldn't there be a cpu_to_fdt32() conversion here?

This sounds pretty reasonable. Trying to enumerate the various reasons
why (or why not) a package does/doesn't support sysvinit doesn't seem
like a great way to spend our time.

Maybe important since it's removing existing support, but I'm more
interested in fixing bugs/preventing them being created in the first
place than discussing severities.

I agree on this too. To the extent it should be considered
time-limited, it should be «until N releases after sysvinit is removed»
or somesuch, if that happens.

Somewhat depending on the package and level of integration with
sysvinit/systemd, but I'm pretty much in agreement with you here as
well.

The automatic lintian checks here:

https://lintian.debian.org/

are only performed on the latest version of a given package...

... but nothing prevents anyone to run lintian (which is a program in
a package of the same name) on each and every of the packages in
stable (or only on the packages installed by default) and share the
results.

Thanks.

Yes, I think it would be a good starting point. Because in addition to
ensure that the new installations don't have this problem introduced by
an essential package, it could also fix this issue on the installations
that already have been made, right?

I did not know this Lintian tool used internally to verify the packages
automatically. That's interesting. In the thread mentioned by Adam, Yves
said that Lintian is used on testing and unstable, but he was not sure
if it is also used to stable. Do you know if that's the case? Because,
if so, we could use this tool to automatically identify the existence of
other packages that might cause problems on the permissions for the /bin
directory.

Now this is fixed. However storing pickled strings in QSettings usually does
not make much sense.

When a non-Qt object (such as bytes) is stored in QSettings, it gets pickled
by PyQt. So in your case there will be double pickling.

You can either store the object directly, or wrap the bytestring into a
QtCore.QByteArray (which is a native Qt object).

I did see this method, but I did not use it a few weeks ago, since I wanted
to give a try manually first. I forgot to update the debian/rules with
DEB_BUILD_MAINT_OPTIONS afterwards. It is done in the new package I have

Good catch for the replace/break/conflicts.

Everything should be up-to-date on mentors.debian.net. I hope everything is
fine now.
The package is lintian clean (except from one experimental tag) and it
builds fine in a sid/amd64 cowbuilder chroot.

PS: I am glad, I have reinstalled my cowbuilder chroots along with my old
utilities to check the Debian packages.

Best regards and thanks again for your time Gregor.

Why not? Seems to be improved compared to fdupes and perhaps even
better maintained?

I for my part often use different scanners depending on what I
currently want to do.

Correct. That's why the bug has a question mark: I am
asking, whether it might be useful to provide this with the
package or just let people rule their own.

Providing it with the package and enabling it by default
could have the benefit of having a clear point for other
packages to integrate with letsencrypt.sh. But I am not
sure this is going to happen at all.

It could also be an option to include my example
run-parts-hook-script in
/usr/share/doc/letsencrypt.sh/examples/ so that an admin
can copy it from there?

Do we need another scanner and deduplicator, while having:

duff - Duplicate file finder
hardlink - Hardlinks multiple copies of the same file
fslint - Utility collection to find and fix common errors in file storage

It is a problem in every package having wrong permissions, but sed is
always installed by default (it's even Essential: yes), while the
others are not.

So if we fix sed in jessie, new installs will probably have the /bin
directory fixed.

Hi,

Whilst working on the Reproducible Builds effort [0], I noticed
that myghty could not be built reproducibly.

 - Use gmtime over localtime

 - Don't create objects in the kwargs - they end up in the documentation
and then their repr(…) includes a non-deterministic memory address.

Patch attached.

Bug#835636: util-linux: home wanted for "sizetty"

2016-08-27 Thread Adam Borowski
Package: util-linux
Version: 2.28.1-1
Severity: wishlist

Hi!
Please advise where to put the attached program. It fixes the problem when
you connect to a serial console and your terminal size is not exactly 80x24.

If the terminal driver's idea of terminal size doesn't match reality,
there's nastiness that ranges from premature wrapping (horizontally and
vertically) to screen corruption of full-screen programs, having to edit
long commands in bash mostly blindly, etc. Thus, this program queries the
terminal and stty-s the result.

Alas, this cannot be done unconditionally as the thing attached to the other
side of a serial console isn't always a terminal. Some might not support
reporting cursor position (I made a timeout of 3 seconds), some expect-likes
might be confused by unknown ANSI codes, some unconditionally blast commands
(the first one would be partially eaten). Thus, my fix needs to be
requested by the user.

This thingy is way probably way too small for a separate package.

As it fixes a deficiency of getty, it'd be nice to have it next to that. On
the other hand, one shouldn't thoughtlessly bloat an essential package.

Third option would be patching this into getty, enabled by a command-line
switch.

Hi Gianfranco,

I actually prepared 4.7.1 at pretty much the same time as 4.7! :-)
https://github.com/sten0/btrfs-progs/tree/debian/4.7.1-1_bpo8+1

I also just uploaded 4.7.1 to Debian mentors.

Will the deferred queue automatically drop the proposed 4.7.1 bpo in case a
major regression prevents the sid package from migrating to testing? From what
I've read on the upstream list, the currently known regressions are the fault
of linux-4.6.x rather than btrfs-progs. I really hope I can find the time to
learn formal Debian kernel packaging and package linux-4.4.x on github...but
that's off-topic!

On a more closely related note, I've now met with two DDs in Montréal (Antoine
Baupré and Alexandre Viau), and we've signed each other's keys. Do you think
I'm ready to proceed with an DM application for backports of btrfs-progs? If
so, would you advocate for me? If not, what do I need to work on?

Cheers,
Nicholas

Hi, Santiago.

Do you think it's a problem of sed specifically? Because Yves
mentioned two other packages (lpe and ucspi-proxy) that could also
change the permissions of /bin.

What is not clear to me is why this happens in netinstall and not on
LXC. Because I believe that in both cases the same package is installed.
Or am I missing something? If you could clarify this, I would appreciate
it.

Thanks.

Bug#835634: nut: POWEROFF_WAIT option has no effect

2016-08-27 Thread Dark Penguin

Package: nut
Version: 2.7.2-4
Severity: important

The POWEROFF_WAIT option in nut.conf does not work (has no effect).

I have a suspicion that it has something to do with systemd handling
system shutdowns nowadays, though it's too complex for me to investigate
further and find any proof (other than /sbin/shutdown and /sbin/poweroff
pointing to /bin/systemctl, which does not prove anything).

This bug introduces quite a regression I believe is worth fixing in
Jessie (even if it turns out to be fixed in later versions). Also, it
becomes especially hilarious together with #83 - nut also doesn't
send the command to kill the power; so nut doesn't handle the case when
your UPS supports cutting the power, AND it doesn't handle the situation
when it does not. Seriously, did no one notice a 100% broken package
BEFORE shipping Jessie?.. A package that manages power supply, of all
things. Hence the "important" severity.

Details:
If the command for the UPS to kill the power is sent when AC power is
already back, my UPS ignores it. (And it's APC, so I really didn't
expect that kind of thing from them.) So, there is a risk to have all my
machines require a manual restart after a power failure.

And nut has a workaround just for this case...

Actions required:
- Add "POWEROFF_WAIT=15m" line in /etc/nut/nut.conf

Intended behaviour:
- After an emergency shutdown triggerd by NUT, the system is not
powered down, only halted. After a timeout (15 minutes in this
example) it reboots, in case the UPS did not cut the power
for some reason.

Actual behaviour:
- The system is always powered off, ignoring the option added.

Minor notes:

- man nut.conf has a section about this option which directs me to
/usr/share/doc/nut/docs/shutdown.txt.gz , which is not there anymore.

- man nut.conf does say that "if you want to specify time in seconds,
use the 's' suffix", but it does not say which suffix should I use if I
do NOT want to specify time in seconds. According to the example below,
using "m" is also possible - apparently, for minutes, but I was
wondering if "m" is already deprecated (along with shutdown.txt.gz
mentioned above) and I should use no suffix by default... I don't want
to do a real power failure test again just to find out.

And another one, but this time in sid:

https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?src=open-iscsi
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?pkg=open-iscsi-udeb

I noticed it because of:
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=834241

While the bug was still unfixed, Britney had no trouble finding
it and adding it to the excuses list. OTOH, DMD / DDPO / tracker
didn't see it, because they rely on the BTS source package based
listing.

Note though: we did upload open-iscsi to experimental not too long
ago, and it passed binNEW because we added an additional binary
package 'iscsiuio' (that the BTS now correctly identifies with the
source package, see [1]). The next upload was then to sid, also
incorporating the experimental changes. The 'open-iscsi-udeb'
package has always been built from src:open-iscsi though - in all
suits.

Christian

My view of this is that users will be looking for 'an' equalizer, not for
qpaeq per se. Looking at other distributions, I see the package is called
'pulseaudio-equalizer' (Fedora, Arch Linux, openSUSE). Perhaps we could go
with that name, if only for the sake of uniformity?

qpaeq itself says to enable the module if it is not, so I think it's safe
to ignore this.

I have not tested it through a chroot, although I have tested it on a live
environment. I've added dependencies on the Debian packages providing the
explicitly imported Python packages, so it should be safe (if it's not,
that's a bug in the packages concerned).

Doing this is not likely to cause build failures right away because we
have been monitoring the build logs and didn't see any failure during
last release. Also, the number of scripts present are quite small now.

Attached patch fixes the problem.

I think 755 should be right. At least 775 seems not work with Jailkit by
be considered a security breach as I see in the log:

---
Jun 27 15:37:57 ispconfig jk_chrootsh[19240]: path
/var/www/clients/client1/web7/bin/ is group writable
Jun 27 15:37:57 ispconfig jk_chrootsh[19240]: abort,
/var/www/clients/client1/web7 is not a safe jail, check ownership and
permissions.
---

I think when you create a new user with Jailkit, this is based on the
/bin directory with the permissions that it has in the base system, and
Jailkit copies it into the home for the chrooted user maintaining the
same permissions. But when a chrooted user wants to log in, s/he is
unable to do so due to the security breach registered you can see in the
log that I copied above.

What led me to think that maybe we could have a bug on the Debian
permissions for /bin.

Kind regards,

Bug#835516: General: Incorrect permissions on /bin for Debian Jessie

2016-08-27 Thread Santiago Vila
reassign 835516 debian-installer
thanks

I think this is a bug in debian-installer, because debootstrap is
apparently not affected by the umask setting (be it 002 or 022).

Reassigning accordingly.

Dear d-i people: Short summary: New systems installed from Debian 8
netinst image have /bin with mode 775 instead of 755.

Thanks.

Bug#828978: RFS: install-mimic/0.2.0-1 (ITP)

2016-08-27 Thread Jakub Wilk

[I don't intend to sponsor this package. Sorry!]

* Sean Whitton , 2016-08-27, 10:48:
1. This package has a perl and a C version of the program, and you
install the C one. Have you considered installing both and using the
alternatives system to permit the user to choose?

Both implementation have identical functionality AFAICS, so I don't see
the point of installing them both. How would the user decide which one
they want?

2. Your autopkgtest test suite appears to test the perl version?

Hopefully not, because it's supposed to test the install packaged, and
as you noticed, there's no Perl version there...

We want it to be 755, so if they end up being 775, that's a bug.

It should be harmless because /bin is owned by root, and by default
only root is in the group root.

For the record, I've just used netinst iso for 8.4.0 and KVM to
install a new system, and yes, I can reproduce this. You don't have to
install anything at all, just the base system.

> I never changed any permissions manually, so I believe, this settings are now
> for a lng time.

I've just checked and all my systems have 775!

This is certainly surprising.

Most probably this is a bug in either:

* Some package in the base system (would be detected by lintian).
* debootstrap
* debian-installer

Help to debug this would be appreciated. Maybe we can fix it for
Debian 8.6.

Thanks.

Bug#835630: ruby-gettext-setup: test suite fails under autopkgtest

2016-08-27 Thread Antonio Terceiro
Package: ruby-gettext-setup
Version: 0.3-1
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

the test suite for ruby-gettext-setup fails under autopkgtest, because
it tries to load library code from the source package. Attached you will
find a patch that fixes this - it is trivial enough so it should
probably be pushed upstream.

There was an empty repository for this package under
/git/pkg-ruby-extras on alioth, which I removed. I could have uploaded
the fix myself, but I don't have write access to the pkg-puppet
repository, and have no intention in joining the team.

2016-08-27 Thread Felipe Sateler
Package: dracut-core
Version: 044+109-1
Severity: important

If no host filesystems are detected (which can happen if running inside
a nspawn container in a btrfs subvolume, and btrfs-tools is not
installed), then dracut hangs in 90kernel-modules, because
$host_fs_types is empty and thus instmods tries a read.

I note that this code is very different from upstream (either the 44 tag
or current master), maybe the fix is to update the code from upstream?

Hi, Adam.

Thank you for your contribution. Maybe Santiago can tell us if this
issue is related to what is mentioned in that thread.

On the other hand, if you can do some testing that validates what I
mentioned here so that we can isolate that this is something introduced
into the image of netinstall, maybe that can help isolate the source of
the problem. Because I could not replicate it installing a Jessie LXC
container.

Bug#835627: ros-rospack: FTBFS on hurd-i386

HI,

ros-rospack currently FTBFS on GNU/Hurd since 2.3.0-3 when the unit
tests were enabled. This is due to usage of PATH_MAX in
file test/test/utest.cpp. The attached patch fixes this by using
getcwd(NULL, 0) to allocate space, populate path and free it after
usage. As all Debian architectures support this usage of getcwd() no
harm would be done. All tests succeed on GNU/Hurd too.

Bug#829520: RFS: mbpfan/1.9.1-1 ITP

2016-08-27 Thread Sean Whitton
control: tag -1 +moreinfo

Dear Herminio,

I'd like to review this package and help you get it into good shape for
an upload to Debian, but it's quite hard to review right now because the
debian/ subdir has a lot of cruft.

If you resolve the following clean-up issues, please remove the moreinfo
tag from the RFS bug, let me know and I'll review it.

1. Please make the packaging available in git, rather than a .dsc from
mentors. This makes it easy to see when you've made suggested fixes
using `git diff`.

2. You have a lot of *.ex files that aren't doing anything in the
debian/ subdir. And README.source. There shouldn't be any template
files you aren't using.

3. Similarly lots of example text in d/rules.

4. And d/watch.

5. You have lots and lots of patches without proper patch headers. The
patches seem to be revisions of each other. You need one patch for each
meaningful change, with the reason for the change explained in the patch
header (ideally a DEP-3-compatible header).

6. You shouldn't patch the makefile's install target. Override
dh_auto_install to disable it, and use dh_install to install the files
where they should go. (See the manpages for those tools.)

Hope we can make progress with this one! Thanks!

Bug#828978: RFS: install-mimic/0.2.0-1 (ITP)

2016-08-27 Thread Sean Whitton
control: tag -1 +moreinfo

Hello Peter,

Here's a few comments and questions on your package (hopefully get the
ball rolling on sponsorship).

1. This package has a perl and a C version of the program, and you
install the C one. Have you considered installing both and using the
alternatives system to permit the user to choose?

2. Your autopkgtest test suite appears to test the perl version? Not
sure -- would be best to add comments to the debian/test/control file.

3. If users need to overwrite files installed by Debian packages, they
should use dpkg-divert and/or dpkg-statoverride. Perhaps it should be
stated clearly in the package description that install-mimic should be
used in combination with those tools.

I just did a test installing a KVM virtual machine using
debian-8.5.0-amd64-netinst.iso and I can confirm that here /bin has
permissions 775 instead of 755. So maybe this is a issue that comes
from the netinstall image because, as I said, I could not replicate
this by creating a LXC container with Jessie.

2016-08-27 Thread Axel Beckert
Package: html2wml
Version: 0.4.11-1.1
Severity: serious

Dear Werner,

in Sid and Stretch, the perl package no more contains CGI.pm (as it has
been removed upstream from Perl's core), hence html2wml now needs an
additional run-time dependency on libcgi-pm-perl.

Unfortunately I didn't notice this issue before uploading my NMU to
DELAYED/2. I've cancelled my previous upload and will upload a new one
including a fix for this issue to e.g. DELAYED/10 instead.

Bug#828157: RFS: lua-stdlib/41.2.0-1 [ITP #727169]

2016-08-27 Thread Sean Whitton
control: tag -1 +moreinfo

Hello Sergio,

Here's a few comments and questions on your package (hopefully get the
ball rolling on sponsorship).

Important:

1. You have Vcs-* fields but they point to someone else's debianisation.
I don't think you should add those fields until after that git repo
actually contains your version of the package. Is there some reason you
don't want to use that other debianisation, btw?

2. I think you should run dh_autoreconf to regenerate Makefile.in and
configure. This ensures that they can be correctly regenerated, such
that Debian is shipping the actual source code of the build system that
can be used to regenerate that build system.

3. You need to state explicit copyright for the GNU autotools files
(INSTALL, Makefile.in) which are under the FSF's special autotools
unlimited redistribution license (even if you run autoreconf they're
still present in the source package.)

Suggestions:

1. The -dev package only installs documentation. Are you expecting it
to install something else in a future version? Otherwise, why not use a
-doc suffix? -dev makes people think they're getting headers etc.

2. In the description, maybe s/for common programming tasks/for common
programming tasks in the Lua programming language/g. Makes it more
accessible for people who don't know that the 'lua-' in the name refers
to a programming language.

3. You're installing ChangeLog as the upstream changelog but that file
is akin to a git commit history. I suggest installing NEWS as
/usr/share/doc/lua-stdlib/changelog instead (just override
dh_installchangelogs in d/rules).

4. I don't know any lua so might want to get someone from the lua team
to check your dh-lua usage, if you haven't already.

5. You could use the --linkdoc option of dh_installdocs so that the -dev
package installs the docs to /usr/share/doc/lua-stdlib. Easier for
users to find.

6. It would be nice to install AUTHORS to properly credit the people
who have worked on this software.

HTH!

Hi,

(Found via #835617)

congress/datalog/Python{2,3}/CongressParser.py are generated files
but they are not being regenerated during a package build.

(Note that simply calling antlr3 on the .g will set a timestamp at the
top of the file which will render the package unreproducible again,
assuming you apply #835617. It may make sense to sanitise this with,
for example, sed.)

Hi,

Whilst working on the Reproducible Builds effort [0], I noticed
that congress could not be built reproducibly.

The issue was that -- in tests only -- Config{Lexer,Parser}.py
was being generated by antlr3, which was outputting a timestamp
to the top of the file.

Patch attached.
