[Dx4win] DXCC Report of QSL Cards

[Dx4win] How to extract my log for 2021 without risking the entire log
Andy -- Extracting your 2021 log is a multi step process. There may be an easier way to do it, but this is what I've done. First, select all your 2021 QSOs. Second, export the 2021 log file as an ADIF file. Then create a new log file and import the ADIF file. Save that file as your 2021 QSOs. As a precaution, copy your log file and save it in a safe place before you start! Here's the steps: To select all your 2021 QSOs: In the QSO window click FILTER > SELECTION. In the Selection Editor popup pull down the Current selection menu to DATE FILTER. If you don't have a Date Filter, create one by clicking ADD and change Replace This Name with Date Filter. Edit the Date Filter boxes for First Date 01/01/2021 and Last Date to 31/12/2021. Checkmark the box Date Filter. Click on the Update button, then click OK. The popup closes and your log now contains your 2021 QSOs. To see how many QSOs you had in 2021, Click on FILTER > COUNT and the popup window shows the number of QSOs. Next, export that log to a new file. Select FILE > IMPORT/EXPORT. The Import/Export Filters popup appears. Click on the line ADIF if it is not already selected. Select FILE > EXPORT. In the Save As popup window navigate to the folder you want to Save In such as your Desktop, enter the file name such as 2021 QSOs (not just your callsign!). Click on SAVE. A popup window will say Export Finished and the number of QSOs written. Click OK. Close the Import/Export Filters popup window. To return to your full log, click FILTER > SELECTION. In the popup window pull down menu for Current Selection, choose All QSOs, click OK. Now you are back to your full log. To create a DX4WIN log file for 2021, open DX4WIN and select FILE > NEW. In the Create New Log popup navigate to the desired folder location (or stay in the default Save folder), enter a new file name (not just your callsign!) and click OPEN. You now have an empty DX4WIN log file. Import your saved 2021 QSO file. Select FILE > IMPORT/EXPORT and in the popup select FILE > IMPORT, navigate to the folder where you saved your 2021 QSOs ADIF file and click on the file name. Click on OPEN. The Import Results popup window tells you how many QSOs were imported. Click OK and close the Import/Export Filters popup. You now have a DX4WIN log file with your 2021 QSOs. To go back to your full log, select FILE > OPEN and the Open Log File popup appears. Navigate to your DX4WIN folder if you're not already there, click on your callsign and click OPEN. You may see a popup to save the previous log that was opened if it was modified, if so, click YES. Your full log is now open. You can confirm that by selecting FILTER > Count to read the number of QSs in the full log. I hope that answers your question about creating a log for 2021 QSOs. If there's an easier way, I would be happy to learn about it. [Dx4win] Mode Command Broken with FTDX101?
If you have the latest Yaesu firmware update for the FTDX101 and have problems with the Mode, try slowing the baud rate and increasing the CAT Time Out Timer in the radio. The FTdx-101 rig file defaults to 38400. Select a lower baud rate in DX4WIN in the File > Preferences > Radio by unselecting the Default box for the Baud Rate and type 9600 as the Baud Rate for a test. Then Save Changes and Exit. Change your FTDX101 menu settings for the lower baud rate, menu item Operation Setting > General > CAT Rate = 9600 and set CAT Time Out Timer to 1000msec. This change has corrected the Mode issue for some users. [Dx4win] DX4WIN and FTDX101
John -- If your DX4WIN correctly sets the mode for other radios but not the FTDX101, I suspect the rig file you have is the problem. There are no menu settings in the FTDX101 that would cause this symptom. Replace your rig file in the RADIOS folder with the Yaesu FTdx101 file from the AD1C site -- http://dx4win.ad1c.us/radios/index.html. [Dx4win] Log File
Arne -- To generate a log file of QSOs for a group, do an F8 search on the group number and export the file. If you're not familiar with F8, do this: In the QSO window select Filter > Search > type the group number and hit Enter key. You now have a log of all QSOs with that group number. Now, export the file with File > Import/Export > File > Export > enter file name and location > Save > Yes > OK. You now have saved an ADIF file of the group QSOs. Close the Import/Export window. In the QSO window select Filter > Cancel Filter and you now have your entire log back in DX4WIN. [Dx4win] DX4WIN vs. Freebees
I've been a DX4WIN user for so long I can't remember when I started, 18+ years ago? I've looked at the freebee loggers and found it was a waste of my time to move to another logger. I've looked at the popular for-profit loggers and found that most are so bloated that, again, they are a waste of my time and money. It all depends on what you want your logger to do. I want my logger to track QSOs with a reasonable search capability, to track the major awards and QSLs, and to produce log files that can be uploaded to other services like LoTW and ClubLog. MMTTY built-in is a plus for casual use. WSJT-X isn't on my to-do list. For contesting, I use contest programs specifically designed for contesting. If DX4WIN doesn't meet your needs, move on to something that is a better fit to your needs. I'm comfortable wearing DX4WIN. It fits well and I never have to fight it.
