[Dx4win] DX4WIN/RIG EXPERT TI-8 (TS002 cable)/TS950SDX Radio data connection times out
I am trying to get DX4WIN to talk to my TS950SDX using the RigExpert TI-8/TS002 interface. The radio data interface ( Band info , mode etc) times out . Not sure if the problem is with the TI-8 or DX4WIN ( or the TS950?) . The station has been in moth balls for 5 years during a move. Used to work fine with an earlier version of DX4WIN and a home brew IF-232 interface ( the IF-232 interface has not surfaced from the unpacking) Any help /clues appreciated. -- Dave manu...@artekmanuals.com www.ArtekManuals.com --- This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software. https://www.avast.com/antivirus __ DX4WIN mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:DX4WIN@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
[Dx4win] DX4WIN and WJST-X/FT8
I am trying to run wjst-x on my Kenwood TS990S and of course log my contacts in DX4WIN The 990 uses a USB connection which is seen as a virtual comport (COM3). I run into conflicts when I try to run DX4WIN and WJST-X because I think they are sharing or not sharing as the case may be the same COM port I want to work a FT8 contact and then log it in DX4WIN. To do this at the moment I make a QSO on WJST-X/FT8 , then close WJST-X and open DX4WIN ( or let DX4WIN /Radio interface time out and then log the contact manually A bit cumbersome in the digital age. So what do you guys do? 1) Manually transfer the info to DX4WIN after the radio connection times out, have to remember to enter all the band data, etc 2) The 990 has in addition to the USB virtual COM connection, a real COM port I suspect but have not tried it that I could run both the USB/COM and the REAl/COM dedicate one port to DX4WIN and dedicate the other connection to WJST-X 3) WJST-X has a loging mode, so just log everything to WJST-X and then import that log into DX4WIN later ? 4) Or Some possible permutation and combination I haven't considered yet Dave NR1DX manu...@artekmanuals.com nr...@arrl.net --- This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software. https://www.avast.com/antivirus __ DX4WIN mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:DX4WIN@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

[Dx4win] DX4WIN and JT-Alert??
Friend of mine is pushing me to install JT Alert for a number ( of possibly good reasons) . Before I jump into the learning curve pool with yet another program. Any one here using JT Alert with DX4WIN? I purportedly automatically interfaces with WJST-X and some ( all?) logging programs and automatically logs the WJST-X QSO instead of having to come along and import the WJST-x log into your logging program after the fact. [Dx4win] DX4WIN /WIINKEY-USB 9.03 and 9.05 problems fixed
Originally the latest version of WINKEY (firmware 31.02) would not work with DX4WIN 9.03. The near term solution was to down-rev the firmware in WINKEY to 30.10 which at least worked with 9.0.3 When Paul released his latest set of changes fo DX4WIN (9.0.5) this was on the laundry list of things that were fixed. I upgraded to DX4WIN 9.0.5 which as I reported a week ago now recognized WINKEY but the CW was reversed ( dashes sent for dots and vice versa) . Finally Steve at WINKEY yesterday download a copy of the new DX4WIN and reported back to me that it played flawlessly there . Hm On a hunch I uninstalled DX4WIN and did a fresh install. Voilà ! problem solved and CW was coming out the correct way . Apparently the upgrade to 9.0.5 went astray though no errors were reported. I guess the lesson learned if your the only one seeing a problem that no one else has try a clean ire-install. Re: [Dx4win] DX4WIN /WIINKEY-USB 9.03 and 9.05 problems fixed
Paul All I know is after updating to 9.0.5 the keying was reversed. No changes were made to WInkey firmware (30.10) initially after the update, Winkey continued to function correctly with other programs (N1MM). I then updated the winkey firmware to its latest version (31.02) and the keying continued to be reversed. Once I uninstalled DX4WIN completely and then reinstalled it 9.0.3. I then changed the Winley back to 30.10 so it would talk to 9.0.3 since Winkey 31.02 does not work with DX4WIN 9.0.3. THEN I updated 9.0.3 to 9.0.5 and Winkey 30.10 was working correctly with 9.0.5. Then I once again updated WINKey to 31.02 and that now works with 9.0.5. as well This is a dedicated ( to the ham station) PC, running WIN-10 PRO / on Intel I7-8700K with 32GB of Ram. Radio is a Kenwood TS990 to the PC via the standard old fashioned COM port ( not the USB port) at 115200 Baud. I did try switching over to the USB COM port but the the keying was still reversed What happened with the reversal is any ones guess. No other programs were changed or added during the week ( other than Micro Squash doing their @#$!&%$ updates). As you noted in another email no one else had the problem. In fact after talking to other users with similar set ups and they did not have the problem is what prompted me to do a clean reinstall Dave NR1DX manu...@artekmanuals.com dit dit On 6/22/2019 10:19 PM, Paul van der Eijk wrote: Dave, So glad Winkey works for you now. However, I want to get two misconceptions out of the way: 1. When DX4WIN starts, there is an internal checksum calculation to see that the executable has not been changed. If it has been changed or downloaded incorrectly, you will see a message saying that the executable is corrupt; clicking Ok will terminate the program. 2. DX4WIN communicates with Winkey using ASCI text, not dots and dashes. So reversing dots and dashes happened after the text is sent to the keyer. I thank Steve, K1EL, for helping me figure out the change to initialization sequence for Winkey so it is compatible with old and new firmware. --Paul, KK4HD On Sat, Jun 22, 2019 at 6:10 PM Artek Manuals mailto:manu...@artekmanuals.com>> wrote: Originally the latest version of WINKEY (firmware 31.02) would not work with DX4WIN 9.03. [Dx4win] WINKEY USB 3.1 Does NOT work with DX4WIN (Solved mostly)
OK here is the (hopefully) temporary workaround for those of you who have the latest Winkey USB 3.1 which DOES NOT (yet?) work with DX4WIN The cliff notes version is "down-rev" the WINKEY USB firmware from 31.02 to 30.10 the downside of this is largely the loss of the RTTY features in 31. For now I can live with this. You will also need to download TWO versions of WKTOOLS (tools4.3 works with 30.10 firmware and tools5.1 for 31.02 firmware.) you will need both tool kits to get back and forth. Also a good idea to unplug the USB cable after changing firmware for a few seconds so the drivers can reload Many thanks to K1EL at WINKEY for his prompt replies to my questions and the info necessary to do the reverse upgrade. Once the older firmware was loaded in the WINKEY , DX4WIM recognized the WINKEYER without a hitch. So far the folks at DX4WIN have not responded to acknowledge the problem . So when if ever there will be a fix that will allow return to later version of WINKEY firmware is unknown for now Also many thanks to Max N5HNJ who set me on the right track to get the information I needed and provided a few tips that even K1EL forgot to mention about the need for two different tool kits depending on the firmware.
