Looking at the circuit, I see that it supplys voltage to Q5 and is part of the current sense. On transmit I measured zero volts on the emitter of Q5, TP1 and that end of R30. Seems like Q5 might be dead. I replaced Q5 and now U7 Pin 1 is about .5v on tx. However, U7 pin 7 is not right so guess Q4 might be suspect. Happens on all bands. Relative to an external wattmeter the power the K2 shows is wrong and the power the KPA100 outputs in some cases is not ok. Max out on the lowbands is almost 150 watts and pulled current is above 20 amps. On 20m and above output is more normal, output is never above 100w. For example the K2 reads 80, but the external wattmeter reads 100w. On 15m output is below normal. The K2 will read 110 and the max out is 90w. Approachs normal at around 70w. On 10m ouptput tracks like 20m except max out is about 110w. [Elecraft] kpa100 not tracking power with K2
Having problems with my kpa100 not tracking power with respect to the power knob on the K2. For example on 40m if the K2 says 40w the wattmeter shows 100 watts and the current meter on the power supply confirms the latter with ~18 amps. The leads me to suspect the power control circuit, but I'm unfamiliar with its operation. Any help would be appreciated. With mine on 80m I have to reduce power to < 11 watts to tune either antenna (zepp/80m inv-l) in the CW section of the band. If I don't the tuner goes crazy and somtimes turns itself back to CALP or the leds start acting weird or it looks like it has tuned, but it once you tx at full power the swr is full scale. On 80m phone I don't have these issue. On 160m it tunes the zepp no problem. Pat N8VW ___ Elecraft mailing list Post to: Elecraft@mailman.qth.net You must be a subscriber to post to the list. [Elecraft] k2 low output
My K2 (2016) is suffering low output starting on 20 and wrapping around to 10 and 160 where I get little to no output. 80,40,30 are unaffected. Rx is great. Symptoms include, low output and inability to increase output beyond a certain level. Both symptons vary per band. When I'm less tired I'll produce some data. It sounds like something in the vpwr circuit. I checked the voltages on U8 and found pin 10 had 5v and 11 had 0v which is opposite of what it is in the manual. Thoughts anyone?
