[Fink-devel] Hello Fink Project
Hi everyone, I'm very pleased to join the Fink Project, after being invited to become a doc writer. To introduce myself, my name is Pedro Massobrio, but I'm better known as Sao. At the moment, I'm a member of the macosxhints-forums as a Unix-X11 Moderator, and maintain my own web-site about Fink Apple's X11. Although I already got some feedback about the scope of my work here from 'dmalloc', I will take this opportunity to ask the four Project Leaders to comment on what exactly they expect me to do, as well as provide general guidelines for my work. These last couple of days, I have been checking the structure and documentation of the Fink web-site and already have several ideas which I will present very soon. I would rely on prior consultation and positive feedback from the project members before I implement any changes to the already established structure. And I will be happy to work together with the other members of the Support and Documentation Team. For the moment, let me just say that Fink is a great Project, and again I'm very glad to be a part of it. Badly named, why not fink parent FOO ? fink find sounds *way* more generic than that and IMO will quickly lead to confusions. Maybe we should move all developer commands to a separate namespace, a bit like cvs admin ... fink dev splits FOO or even a separate command: fink-dev splitoffs (the check/verify, and checksums commands would be other candidates for this). Re: [Fink-devel] new fink commands
I'm not sure showparent is a dev command though I've had lots of ppl move mplayer into their local and then it depends on libavcodec which it's a pkg it's part of ffmpeg and xmms-aac which is part of faad. But I know these since I'm the maintainers, even other devel have asked me about em. but i do like having a fink devel switch type thing and that could be in devel.pm. --- TS http://southofheaven.org Chaos is the beginning and end, try dealing with the rest. Hm, bad. But just to double check, if you take a look at your /sw/etc/fink.conf, to which value is MirrorOrder set? MirrorOrder: MasterFirst And it does work if I actually read (oops) what is on screen and select the custom mirror option. Is MasterFirst a default I set up on installation? I don't remember. In any case, this reiterates the slightly broken nature of the rsync fink configuration. In particular, it is using CustomMirror only to compensate for the fact that the URL has to change once a version is no longer the most current. Is there a way to specify a set of URLs that always override the fink-wide mirror configuration? b.bum smime.p7s Description: S/MIME cryptographic signature

TheSin and I did stick with the parent - Children theme because it has a certain phsychological indication and thus it would make those commands suitable even for none developers.
