[Goanet-News] NEWS: Portugal's seven wonders spark controversy
http://www.deccanherald.com/content/8300/portugals-seven-wonders-spark-controversy.html Battle for Basilica Portugal’s seven wonders spark controversy Devika Sequeira, Panaji, DH News Service: Tuesday, June 16, 2009 An initiative in Portugal to list the 7 wonders of Portuguese origin in the world has been slammed by historians as ‘silly’, and has drawn angry reactions in many of its former colonies across the world. In Goa, the Freedom Fighters Association said Portugal had no business to claim the Basilica of Bom Jesus as a Portuguese monument and has asked the state government to take up the matter officially with Portuguese authorities. In Africa, where Portugal had several colonies, criticism has centred around the fact that no mention was made that some of the historical sites shortlisted were connected with the slave trade. The Old Goa Basilica which houses the remains of St Francis Xavier and the Fortress of Diu are among the ‘7 Wonders of Portuguese Origin in World’ announced in Portimao, Portugal on June 10. The other sites are: Fortress of Mazagao (Morocco), Old Town of Santiago (Cape Verde), Church of Saint Paul (Macau), Convent of Saint Francis of Assisi (Brazil) and Convent of St. Francis (Brazil). The initiative, supported by Portugal’s Culture Ministry attracted 239,418 votes on the Internet and telephone. The organisers said: “The 27 chosen monuments (originally shortlisted) are situated in 16 countries and are a reason of pride for all Portuguese people. They represent our courage, our ingeniousness and dedication. Choosing the New 7 Wonders of Portugal is to divulge and protect a heritage that belongs to us but also to all of humanity.” Architectural historian Paulo Varela Gomes who heads the Portuguese Fundacao Oriente in Goa said the 7 wonders initiative was a “silly spectacle” conceived in the 19th and 20th century context. It made no sense to apply national classifications to monuments that predated the formation of nations, he said. The Goa Basilica was built by the Jesuits in the early 17th century. They were a multi-cultural order that belonged to no particular nation. Historical sites had to be seen in an ecumenical way, he said. * * * Freedom fighters protest Goan monuments in Portuguese 7 wonders list 14 Jun 2009, 1229 hrs IST, IANS Print Email Discuss Share Save Comment Text: PANAJI: Freedom fighters in Goa have raised strong objections to the listing of the Basilica of Bom Jesus in Old Goa and Fortress of Diu among the seven wonders of Portuguese origin in the world. Goa Freedom Fighters Association (GFFA) spokesman Naguesh Karmali said that Portugal had no business to say that either of the two historic architectural marvels were of Portuguese origin. The laterite stone used to build the basilica was sourced from Goa. The limestone used to reinforce it was from Goa. The wood used for roof arches was from Goa. The Portuguese have no business saying these structures are Portguese in origin, he said. He also noted that forced labour - prisoners of the Inquisition - was used to build these monuments. The labourers were indigenous, who worked till they dropped dead, Karmali said, adding that the GFFA had asked the state government to raise the matter with the central government. The Basilica of Bom Jesus in Old Goa is a world heritage site listed by the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural organisation (UNESCO). It contains the remains of Catholic saint Francis Xavier and attracts millions of devotees throughout the world each year. The seven wonders, selected through an internet and telephone vote and endorsed by the Portuguese government's ministry of culture, were made public June 10. The seven wonders of Portuguese origin, also include the fortress of Mazagao in Morocco, old town of Santiago in Cape Verde, convents of Saint Francis of Assisi and St. Francis in Brazil and the church of St. Paul in Macau. The GFFA comprises of nearly 1,500 freedom fighters, who fought the Portuguese colonial regime which ruled Goa for nearly 450 years, before it was liberated by the Indian army in 1961. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/Cities/Freedom-fighters-protest-Goan-monuments-in-Portuguese-7-wonders-list/articleshow/4654604.cms

[Goanet] Garbage And Our Drains In Goa
Garbage And Our Drains In Goa With all the modern technology and our space race on a high, we should not have had any problems whatsoever with our so called garbage, drainage, sewerage and our waste water management system. But is that the reality ? Are we so obsessed and hell bent on proving, we can compete with the best in the world, that we loose touch with reality and lack sense of direction as far as civic amenities for the general public are concerned ? Goa has been proclaimed as the Rome of the East and a jewel in India's crown, as for me at present, I have not been able to relate to these similes even in the least possible way. Goa as we know has been a tourist destination. One of the basic ingredients to pull in a high density of tourist is cleanliness and hygiene apart from other few and as far as cleanliness and hygiene is concerned Goa is well into the negative. It's disgusting to see that the Sonsodo fiasco is still not dead and buried and to make matters worse, Panjim the capital city is reeling under the same glitch, with the same intensity and disgust. If these basic civic needs of society cannot be adhered to, by our Government, what else, is it capable of doing ? To generate a healthy society, we urgently need to get rid of our present hap-hazard garbage, drainage and sewerage system and replace it with a totally professional, well coordinated and effective system in place. Our Ministers and MLA's are obsessed with destructive development in the form of Mega Housing, SEZ, 6-lane HW and bridges at every two kilometers, but unfortunately none of the monkeys seem to realise the necessity of basic hygienic and good basic civic amenities, to take care of our garbage, drainage, sewerage and waste water management system. Year after year, come rain, we see the same scenes if not a worse scenarios. A moderate shower and all our major towns and cities become swimming pools, ponds and lakes, and why is that so ? Why do we leave our drains uncleared, till the rains come pouring down ? Is our Government really committed to the wellbeing of Goa and Goans ? For God's sake why can't we improve on the very basic civic needs of the general public ? If only our corrupt netas had to utilize their time and energy is the right direction, Goa would have been such a beautiful place to live in. [Goanet] Put an end to doubts about my identity (hopefully!)
Date: Tue, 16 Jun 2009 20:49:28 +0530 From: Sapna Shahani sapnashah...@gmail.com I'm flattered that you looked me up on Google and found that I produced a video news report about the Da Vinci Code movie. I'm sure it's easy to jump to conclusions again that I'm really a Hindu nationalist communal troublemaker, but I'm sorry to disappoint. Let me take this opportunity to invite anyone on Goanet who would like to meet me to determine who I am to please email me and I will gladly make myself available. Mario responds: Sapna, As the only voice of reason, truth and peace on Goanet, I would advise you to avoid the business of defensively catering to various malcontents on Goanet who may want to question your credentials or motivations. Most Goanetters do not know each other personally and I cannot remember seeing anyone else put through the kinds of comments and questions, innuendo and insinuations that you have been subjected to here, with which you have been quite gracious and accomodating in my never-humble opinion. Unlike a few others who were intimidated by some irritable members into withdrawing from the field, I urge you to continue to express yourself to your heart's content and let the chips fall where they may. I have been a member for over ten years, met one Goanetter decades ago and have never met him since, and have met a few others briefly, some who share my political philosophy and general world view and some who do not - though I'm working on those:-)) Everyone else is known to me only by what they write here. Even if you were a Hindu trouble-maker, so what? We have a fair number of Christian trouble-makers, and some secular trouble-makers as members as well. We can deal with all of them, and do so civilly for the most part, though the comments can get fairly robust from time to time. They all have a right to express themselves, and others are free to respond as and when they see fit. We have eagle-eyed moderators who do a pretty good job of screening every post before it appears to make sure that personal attacks and invective are at a minimum, or at least cleverly disguised as you will notice from time to time. Once the administrators accept your membership your words are what members should focus on and respond to.
[Goanet] Pull-back from the brink
This article is from the blog res gestae (www.rajivndesai.blogspot.com http://www.rajivndesai.blogspot.com/ ) you can reach the person managing the list at i...@comma.in Wednesday, June 10, 2009 Pull-back http://rajivndesai.blogspot.com/2009/06/pull-back-from-brink.html from the brink In one fell swoop, the world's largest, most diverse electorate pulled the country back from the brink. In deference to the aspirations of the rising middle class, the centre held and gave the country a real chance against the barbarism that has threatened to sink it. Going into India's 15th general election, posturing politicians and clueless media created a scare that India was doomed to uncertainty, its future mortgaged to small-time caste chieftains and fringe fascist groups. Meanwhile, the BJP was at its hectoring loudest with its communal propaganda. The Left pretended to be a rallying point for petty regional satraps, who seemed to spring from every nook and cranny. Nobody gave the Congress a chance, writing it off as a spent force with no grassroots support. The recently concluded first term of the UPA government was notable for the boorish behaviour of the opposition BJP and the churlish support of the Left parties. The BJP blatantly refused to let Parliament function with its vocal opposition and strong-arm tactics. The Left, an erstwhile UPA ally, embarked on a foolhardy course of confrontation with the prime minister that eventually led to a rupture. Fortunately, timely backing of the Samajwadi Party helped the government win the confidence vote precipitated by the Left's withdrawal of support over the Indo-US nuclear deal. But even then the BJP persisted with its dramatic obstructionism, producing legislators waving wads of money in the well of the house; money they claimed was offered to them to switch sides. Meanwhile, the Mayawati-led BSP circled over this melee like a vulture hoping to scavenge the remains of the political process. Reflected in the boorish glare of media incompetence, the political imbroglio seemed like some dark and foreboding Shakespearean tragedy in which judgement had fled to brutish beasts and men had lost their reason. Many of us hoped for the best but feared the worst. The clamour surrounding the general election obscured a fundamental reality: India has changed and the vast majority of its people are either actually or by aspiration, middle class. Thanks to the government's inclusive policies, the number of stakeholders in the India growth project has increased dramatically. The 2009 election outcome allows us to hope that a critical mass has been achieved to stabilise the ship of state. One thing is clear: old divides of caste and religion were bridged as the Congress chalked up support across caste and religious lines. It's now obvious that voters are tired of posturing and brinkmanship; they've had it with screaming and shouting over non-issues; they have rejected twisted propaganda that a non-Congress, non-BJP alternative is a possibility. The confused media purveyed this line, adding to the noise and distortions of the campaign. But voters showed maturity and a deep concern for the future to vote in the Congress-led coalition. As such, voters have plumped for stability over chaos, substance over frivolity, wisdom over cunning, decency over crudity. In the same fell swoop, voters have put paid to the political future of L.K. Advani, Mayawati, Mulayam Singh, Lalu Prasad, Ram Vilas Paswan, Jayalalitha, Arjun Singh and even Narendra Modi, whose low and abusive style turned people off everywhere and has drawn criticism from all quarters, including the BJP. These men and women were mainly responsible for the chaotic and confused politics of the two decades past. Yet, perhaps the most significant outcome of the recent general election is that the people of India seem to have acknowledged that shallow and divisive politics is the prime reason behind the lack of development and the persistence of poverty across large swathes of the country. This new awareness is hugely welcome. Now there's a real possibility that politics could become a facilitator of growth and equity rather than the corrupt and cynical power play it became in the last three decades of the 20th century. The election result also has global consequences. To be sure, it enhances India's standing in the world. In a rough neighbourhood pocked with the likes of Pakistan's Taliban, Sri Lanka's LTTE, Nepal's Maoists and Bangladeshi Islamists, India is a haven of stability and progress. It boasts a rapidly expanding middle class that can become a leading engine of global economic growth. Investors understand that potential demand here could drive the global economy and keep it chugging for the next few decades. Just think: despite fast-track growth in the telecom sector, penetration is barely 40 percent. Nearly 700 million Indians remain to be hooked on to the telecom grid. It's the same with automobiles,

Well said Selma. Some people try to show they are smarter than anybody else but they are not. Even if they are, nobody ask them for their advice or help. Yet they keep on displaying unsolicited thus harassing people. Some of them are in qualified professions but don’t know how they get all the time to be on the net to work as traffic police and to intercept almost every post. If you say something, then they go on and on. What more? they even write you privately with cc and may be Bcc hundreds others. I have a suggestion to such people. Spend some time with your family (if you have). Spent some time with your kids or grand children. Or join Senior Citizen day centre group (if above 60) Or become a minister (in a church I mean). Or there are many other things once can do. Seek help. Live and let others live Thanks, A Victim of Harassment
[Goanet] Lucas Fernandes is no more
Tomazinho Cardozo President Tiatr Academy of Goa Panjim, Goa. Date: 18 . 06 . 09 Dear Editor Please publish the below given Press Note. We thank you in advance Tomazinho PRESS NOTE Lucas Fernandes is no more Lucas Fernandes, a renowned tiatr artiste of yester years expired under tragic circumstances on 16th June, 2009 at Colva, Goa. Mr. Fernandes served the tiatr stage when there were no female artistes available to participate in Tiatrs. He acted female roles with precision and won the hearts of tiatr goers. His capability in portraying effectively the characters of a young girl, a middle aged mother, or a daughter or a daughter - in law, etc helped the writers and directors of tiatr of that time to produce tiatrs on various themes. He was a very good singer too and in singing also he mostly acted female roles only. In fact he contributed immensely in his own way to the development of Tiatr in the 1940s and 1950s. In the beginning of the 1960s he migrated to Beira for better prospects and hence could not continue his acting on the tiatr stage. Some years back he returned to Goa. His contribution to tiatr staged was recognized by the Goa Government when he was felicitated by Shri. Digamber Kamat, Chief Minister of Goa on the occasion of the inauguration of the Tiatr Academy of Goa on 16th February 2009. Tiatr Academy of Goa condoles the sudden death of this versatile tiatr artiste, conveys our condolences to his family and prays to the Almighty to grant him the eternal peace. Tomazinho Cardozo President Tiatr Academy Goa.

* * * Freedom fighters protest Goan monuments in Portuguese 7 wonders list 14 Jun 2009, 1229 hrs IST, IANS Print Email Discuss Share SaveComment Text: PANAJI: Freedom fighters in Goa have raised strong objections to the listing of the Basilica of Bom Jesus in Old Goa and Fortress of Diu among the seven wonders of Portuguese origin in the world.
[Goanet] A Triumph of Family Ties

Stripped of its pretensions, it is really small and nice regional terminal that serves southern New England and is an alternative to Boston's chaotic Logan airport. It is in Rhode Island, America's smallest state, many of whose politicians are serving penal sentences. Despite its corrupt politics, the Ocean State is a laid back place, focused historically on fishing and sailing. So much like Goa. Providence is one of the earliest cities settled in the United States, in 1636. It is a pretty little city settled on the banks of the river of the same name. To live in the city is to have the best of the both worlds: you have all the urban conveniences in a small town environment. Also, as one of the first industrialized cities, Providence boasts of old wealth as well as old immigrant cultures. Its old wealth is well represented, not least by the Ivy League Brown University but also its playground for the wealthy, Newport, where the truly rich come out to cavort. Two years ago, I went boating in Narragansett Bay, which shelters the Rhode Island coastline from the vagaries of the Atlantic Ocean. Sailing in the bay, I realized that recreation is more fun than mere leisure. Last month, I arrived there to spend the weekend with my nephew Nikhil, who lives in a Boston suburb, less than an hour from Providence. He met me in the terminal and helped me lug my bags to his car in the parking lot. The pleasant transfer experience stood out in sharp contrast to the chaos at Dabholim airport in Goa, which is India's Ocean State. The chaos and discomfort of Dabholim is self inflicted. Apart from the inept and corrupt Airports Authority of India that runs the airport, there are dyspeptic security staff, officious airline staffers, touts and sloppy, uncaring passengers who pay no need to the demands of civil behavior. At the T F Green Airport, the experience was as smooth as silk. It was all very civilized. In just a few minutes, we were buckled up in Nikhil's car and soon, after a pleasant drive, we arrived at his place. It was my last weekend stateside. And what better way to spend it than with Nikhil and my younger daughter who arrived the same day from New York City. Mind you, there is a significant difference in the years we've spent on this planet. Yet we had fun together. The question is: were they just being dutiful? In my own mind, the answer is a resounding no. My nephew and my daughter took the time from their relentlessly busy professional and social lives to spend the time with me. For all the years I lived in America: making it to the office by eight in the morning and slaving until five pm, I valued my weekends; they were private. It took, as it still does, a superhuman effort to do much more than wake up late, watch television or throw (in those days) a video into the machine and vegetate. Given my near neurotic weekend mindset, I admired the fact that my hardworking daughter, who made the trip from Manhattan, and my equally busy nephew, graciously gave up a lot of much-needed downtime to spend the weekend with me. I loved every minute of it. Most important, they made me feel warm and fuzzy. Amazingly, we did not go out to any of Boston's great restaurants but spent the time together at my nephew's house. When we went out, we went to Boston's Fan Pier, to savor the flavor of the Volvo Ocean Race. It was breezy and cold but all kinds of fun. We spent a wonderful afternoon at the pier, listening to music, turning up our collar to what Simon and Garfunkel called the cold and damp. It was still daylight so our eyes were not stabbed by the flash of any light, neon or otherwise. The weekend was a revelation. This next generation seems to have the same hunger as I had when I arrived in the US in the early 1970s. Difference is they have several things going for them: they demand things where we took what we got and made the best of it. More important, they feel they belong; no supplication. They lived through the George W Bush era but are really Obama's children. We were the Woodstock generation with long hair and rock music, full of antipathy to the mainstream. They are the mainstream. It ended all too soon. Sunday morning, we found ourselves at Boston's Logan Airport; not to fly but to rent a car. We were heading to JFK, from where I was booked to fly to Delhi. Since 1999, I've been doing the road trip between Boston and New York. I know the route well. Plus my daughter, who was the navigator, had her Blackberry that told us instantly the smoothest way. We talked up a storm.

[Goanet] Drains Garbage - Freddy Fernandes's posting on 17th June
As far as garbage goes, the brains of the powers that govern Goa are really in the drain. The more mega projects that spiral up, the more the garbage. Progress is not governed by tall structures, but more by clean roads and hygienic surroundings. The approach towards Mapusa both from Parra as well as Assagao stinks as it is littered with garbage and certainly an eyesore to anybody. Primarily, an infrastructure has to be created for garbage clearance before approval of such projects. Bernice Pereira Mumbai ICC World Twenty20 England #39;09 exclusively on YAHOO! Re: [Goanet] Are Indians filthy?
Dear Gabriel, With reference to your curry bath in Mazagon, it probably came from Ray Chambers on Dockyard Road. This building tenanted by mostly Goans, was notoriously known in the Byculla-Mazagon neighborhood for people throwing such things on passersby walking on the road below. In fact you are lucky that with their limited washroom facilities, you did not receive some other type of bath. Many people did. While your opinions and that of Jug Suraiya in the Times Blog you have referenced, may have been once true, it is no longer the case. Indians living in urban dwellings have long since realized that their municipalities are not capable of cleaning lanes and streets and it is they who are ultimately responsible for public hygiene. Having realized that, things are getting better in at least Bombay and some other cities. About the filth in slums, what you say is true. There again the cause is limited facilities rather than the perosnal hygiene of people themselves. If there is a water shortage, you will bathe once a month. If there are no proper latrines, you will use whatever spare land is available nearby. If there are no road bins to dispose of your food scraps, you will throw it on an already acculumlated heap. The fault really is not even that of the municipalities who do not have adequate funding for such jobs. It is that of the politicians, in this case the councillors who use the money to stuff their own pockets. In the case of Bombay, the municipal corporation has a budget that exceeds that of many countries. Perhaps less than half is used for municipal services. It is also the fault of the Indian courts that stop zealous and courageous officers from demolishing slums as they rise. Indian politicians will of course encourage them for vote banks. Only the courts could have stopped them but they didn't. In the case of JoeGoaUk's most recent photograph of a filthy Panjim street, filled with biodegradeable and therefore stinking garbage, was it not the responsibility of the local authority to dispose of it rather than to expect the Panjim public not to generate it? Is it not the duty of the PMC to create a system and process to avoid such a scene? This is only the beginning. Soon you can count on Goa cties and towns to stink to high heaven given the fact that Swiss bank accounts are being opened in record numbers. Let the poeple pick the garbage and throw it in front of every politico's house I say. Then you might see some change. Regards, Roland. On Wed, Jun 17, 2009 at 11:27 PM, Gabriel de Figueiredo gdefigueir...@yahoo.com.au wrote: Considering that I nearly had a curry bath whilst walking the lanes of Mazagon in 1979-80, as well as seeing people bathing in water that was nearly black in colour whilst going through some slums in Mahim/Bandra, I did not really think that Indians as a whole have a very hygienic life-style.
[Goanet] Garbage Talk
In a Toronto subway train I once saw a public service ad that advised people to remove the first piece of litter that is thrown on the train. If you don't, then expect a dirty car. I experienced the soundness of this advice for myself. My house is located on a neat and spotless cul-de-sac, in the center of which is a large round island of turf on which is a tall street-light standard. We the residents use this to have summer BBQs for the neighborhood. Many cars can park around it due to it's large diameter. On Saturday nights when one of the houses has a party crowd, visitors will sit in their cars after the party, talk and throw a couple of beer or coke cans on the island. On the following morning I would put on my garbage gloves, pick up the bottles or cans and put them in a garbage bag. I did this on a few Sundays. People soon started doing the same and soon after that they probably warned their guests about it. I have had no occasion to clear anything for years now. The place is spotless again. Don't less that first piece lie undisturbed. People will add to it and before you know it, a dump arises where there was none before. [Goanet] Archive and access... digitising small libraries (in Goa too)
This announces the beginning of the project ‘Archive and Access’ aimed at running training workshops towards the digitization and sharing of online catalogues for archives and libraries in Goa, Tamil Nadu and areas in the North East of India. The project team members are Rochelle Pinto and Aparna Balachandran (CSCS, Bangalore) and Abhijit Bhattacharya (CSSS, Kolkata). The project is directed mainly at non-state institutions that do not ordinarily attract funding. The object is to generate a culture of online sharing of resources that will benefit both libraries and users. It will publicize the significant holdings of libraries, and enable users at a glance, to view the availability of resources. Once the project generates a number of trained librarians and archivists, it can extend help towards fund-raising and maintain contact with libraries to oversee the maintenance of archives. * This is a call to readers, researchers and library users for information about private collections of texts, or small libraries that may be interested in availing of this programme. In addition to holding workshops, * The project will generate a descriptive database of archival and library collections in each of the focus areas and in other area within the country. * The project offers a service to historians who may have photocopied or microfilmed full texts in various archives over the years and are willing to make these publicly available. These and other reproductions will be scanned and uploaded with credits. They will then be made available online, and the data returned. Those interested please contact us at publicarchivesin...@gmail.com or rochellepi...@yahoo.com (Rochelle Pinto) or 09830986757 (Abhijit Bhattcharya). [Goanet] New hall at Manora, Raia
To, The Editor, Kindly publish the following news item in your esteemed daily. Thanking you, Yours faithfully, For MANORA VIKAS KENDRA (VINCY QUADROS) General Secretary *** NEWS ITEM Government gives the grant to NGO’s to help public. The new hall at Manora, Raia would help the community to celebrate their functions and cultural activities. Therefore I request the Committee to rent the hall villagers at a subsidized rate. Said Mr. Francisco Sardinha while speaking as Chief Guest at the function held at the Community Hall of Manora Vikas Kendra, Manora Raia. He urged upon the villagers to be united. The things happening in your village, should be managed by the villagers and not outsiders. Although there are 20 constituencies for me, I will see that this hall is taken up on priority basis and the people of Raia who have always supported me will never be forgotten. Manora Vikas Kendra, a registered NGO, working for the upliftment of S.T. Community of Arlem and Manora had organized a public meeting to decide on reconstruction of Kendra’s Community Hall with Balwadi under MPLAD and oppose the new Hall proposed by Raia Panchayat constructed under GSIDC. The following details were presented to the public why Kendra’s hall is needed and why there should be a opposition to the new Panchayat Hall at Manora. : The new Panchayat hall covers all the open space available for parking by Govt. Primary School, Balwadi and Ground users. It will leave no space for the villagers to hold open air ward level cultural functions, conventions, Ghumatt competitions, tiatr shows, zagor competitions etc. Gram Sabha of VP Raia has not yet approved their proposal but Kendra has got the issue resolved at Gram Sabha. Town and Country Planning has approved the Panchayat Hall construction plan which leaves no set back to Kendra’s existing Community hall and no access to the road for Balwadi commuters. It is the only space for recreation for the school and Balwadi children. Enlargement of our existing Community Hall would help S.T. community to hold their cultural and personal activities. MP Mr. Francisco Sardinha has already forwarded Kendra’s file to the Collector, South Goa with his assent for doing the needful. General Secretary Mr. Vincy Quadros declared that Hall will be rented to the villagers at Subsidised rates and non-profit events will be sponsored free of cost. Around 50 dozen note books of good quality were distributed to students and tree grafts were distributed to the villagers free of cost. President of the Kendra Mr. Agostinho Barbosa gave a warm welcome to the crowd of around 400 people and Arlem ward member Mr. Menino Fernandes proposed vote of thanks. Medical Officer Dr. Succoro Quadros alos spoke on the occasion. General Secretary Mr. Vincy Quadros compered the entire function.

Would you not say so? Please do not tell me that he/she is a mere Sapna whom you, Mario know personally. [end of excerpt] And from his/her post: http://lists.goanet.org/pipermail/goanet-goanet.org/2009-June/178873.html a: Since you make a claim of being a real Goan, Please expand b: Since you clain to have been brought up as a Catholic please advise IF you ever practised Catholicism and if you still do. If you have fallen out, it will be easier to understand. Some Catholic priests who took advantage of the Church (for education) are (as expected) quite anti-Catholic. c: Have you written/presented in public . on any of the following (1-6) topics ? 1. Inquistion 2. St Francis Xavier 3. Mother Teresa 4. Sonia Gandhi 5. The Da Vinci Code 6. The abuse scandal. d: have you (or anyone on your behalf) ever claimed to have answers to the Da Vinci Code? [end of excerpt] Since I'm certain that JC is a monis who can pass his own tests I prefer to respond, or not, to what he writes here on Goanet:-))
