Re: Internal server error when removing addon

2011-05-27 Thread Benjamin Orozco
Well, actually the problem is that Heroku keep installing quick_sendgrid Gem
which ignores my own configuration, but indeed, that's a temp fix, hope it's
solved soon.

Thanks Peter!

Re: Internal server error when removing addon

2011-05-27 Thread Peter van Hardenberg
Benjamin,

I don't have any help for the internal server error, but you can definitely
set up the environment variables from your manually crafted Sendgrid account
on your app directly via heroku config:add. This will mask the old
credentials and get you back on your feet until you can track down what's
up. As to what do do with the "internal server error", I'd advise you to
open a support ticket.

I believe that it always asked me for the confirm flag. I'm on the 1.9.2

I'll add a comment to your bug report too and we'll hope for the best.

Re: Internal Server Error After a db:push

2011-01-10 Thread Asif
Scott,

I think it's actually a bug on their side, since they seemed to have
done an update.
For instance, when this was working as of a week ago, the db:push
wasn't asking for any --confirm flag, but now it is. Also, the various
pg:* options seem new.

I filed a support ticket on their system, but not sure if they will
respond since I am under the free plan as of now (MVP not fully ready
yet).
Here's the ticket: http://support.heroku.com/requests/17633
If you also add a comment there that it's not working for you either,
maybe they'll pay more attention.

Separately, my resque process also seems to have stopped working. Are
you also facing any other failures?
What stack are you using?

No, I haven't found anything yet. A couple of things I'm going to try are a)

a new identical app, and seeing if that works.

Hi Adam

It's in the interactive console. Running 'heroku console "1+1" '
works fine, but trying to do the same thing in the interactive console
it generates the Internal Server Error message.

Re: Internal Server Error on db:data:load

Yes, db:push is a preferred method, if you have the database loaded locally.
Make sure you have the latest version of the heroku and taps gems
installed:

sudo gem install heroku taps

...and then read details here:

After browsing some more in this forum it appears there is a heroku
db:push...

Is this what I should be using rather than the rake task?

Is this a recent addition.. not sure that it was available when I ran

Re: Internal Server Error

2009-04-03 Thread Robert Jones
'git push heroku master' did not work.

I had to delete the app on Heroku, rm the .git directory on my local app,
and then go through the regular steps from git init onwards.

And then it worked - including heroku db:push error that I posted earlier -
although I can't see how that was related...

thanks

to copy code over, but as of now, I can't even access ootb-old to edit

Re: internal server error

2008-06-24 Thread dennis_j

Adam, seems to be related to a form that allows multiple
uploadColumns (http://uploadcolumn.rubyforge.org/) to be
posted, although, still well under 10 MB POST limit. Just
thinking outload here - uploadColumn does "manipulator" work
using rmagick, I am wondering if it is some thread safety
problem with native rmagick? or some other concurrency issue
with uploadColumn? I have a work around to edit and save
with one uploadColumn asset at a time.

Also, unrelated, do you plan on expanding git features? I was
looking to commit only certain changes, not all that are available.
Also, does commit do implicit push?

thanks again, this is good stuff, especially when compared to morph.

Re: internal server error

2008-06-24 Thread dennis_j

Adam, thanks for getting back to me

I can think of a couple of things, but, since I really don't know your
architecture, it is difficult to describe an implementation:
  - add debug detail to the page source, so deliver 500 but with more
HTML comments...
  - error_log filter by request IP logic - capture the IP I am using
to edit the application and provide an anchor to get to that filtered
log using that IP as filternot perfect and possibly expensive
filter operation, but the only reasonable option I can think of...

I am going to do more testing with uploading one attachment, no
attachments, etc.. it is definitely not over the size limit. and I
have been closely monitoring the logs I have access to...the request
never get's that far.

Let me see if I can isolate it a bit more.

I'm all for that - what did you have in mind? The only additional
thing I can think of offhand would be to make the Nginx error logs for
your app available somehow, but to date when we've tried this it's
been hard to get just the logs relevant to your app sorted out due to
the complexity of the routing that's happening in our front-end load
balancers.

Since I don't know what you're uploading and where, I can't try it myself, but:

- I checked your development.log and don't see any FAILSAFE errors, so
it seems to not be Rails throwing an exception (unless your logs have
been cycled since you last got the error).

- I checked our logs and don't see anything.

- Are you uploading a file larger than 10MB? The front-end load
balancers will reject all POST/PUT bodies larger than that.

Can you add a debugging statement to the heroku client? For example,
on OS X, you could edit
/Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/heroku-0.2/lib/heroku/client.rb and add
this to line 19 (inside the initialize function):

  puts "user = [#{user}] password = [#{password}]"

Hmmm, I am getting internal server errors as well.

First when I tried to create a new app (I hit the back button until I
got the login page, logged in again, and the new app was in existence)
and now I am getting one when I try to edit this new app. No harm
done since it is a new app and I'm not obstructed from working but I
did want to start it on Heroku.

Hmm, I don't see some of the symptoms you mentioned, maybe they are
cleared up now? But the main problem, which is that the app was
throwing an exception, was due to invalid data in your heroku.yml
file. I deleted it, so now your app loads. We'll try to make the
heroku.yml loader more robust to handling unexpected data.

Any other outstanding issues?

Actually I should say it appears that my app is hosed - can't even get
to the online editor view. Both just fail on the internal server error
message. Other weird things are happening with the other apps on my
list - but this one appears to be angry. Local version is running fine
and it was working great and the only change was the addition of a
heroku.yml file and some data entry during user testing.

Hey it looks like this might be the culprit. When I last did a git
push I saw:

rake aborted!
No such file or directory - /mnt/home/userapps/14124/config/
database.yml

Hadn't touched that file myself and sort of considered that off limits
anyway. Any ideas?

It's a pitty that EC2 is having such growing pains. I also heard that
a majority of the EC2 IP's have been black listed due to spammers.
Hope things get straitened out soon.

Actually, I should note that this coincides with the recent ec2 outage
so that probably provides at least a partial explanation.
