Hi.

Again I have succumbed to the latest update so have the latest WLM and have
managed to adjust to the spell-checker but how does one move emails fronm
one filder to another? This is really irritating me as I do use this
facility frequently, or at least I did!

hello yes,
I'm aware of the built in utility in windows7,

but, there's just so many steps,

and, it appears that the CD burn process is through windows media player.

I did try a program called burn setup.exe, there were fewer steps to
actually create the CD.

Hello Dave,

If your client is using Windows 7 and Jaws, she will not need a cd-rom
burning program unless that is what she wants.

Windows 7 has a very good and highly accessible burning program built in.

To access the burner in Windows 7, high light a file to be burned to a
cd.

Press shift-f10 and cursor down the options. One will be send to.
Open the send to menu and choose the cd - dvd writer that is listed.

An example might be: DVD Rw (d:)

A wizard will appear and guide you thru the burn / write process

Re: [JAWS-Users] What has Google done?

2010-11-12 Thread Lennie

Hi Frances,

The best way to secure your programs in event of failure is to use
Image for Windows. David have done a couple of tutorials on backing
up the computer and restoring it.

I tried the demo version which you can do for 30 days. You can find
out more about it at:

http://www.terabyteunlimited.com/image-for-windows.htm

Here is the URL for the download page:

http://www.terabyteunlimited.com/downloads-image-for-windows.htm

Here is the URL for David's tutorial. It is under the utility
heading, items 4 and 5:

http://www.jaws-users.com/audio/

Hope this will help you. You can also use Karen's Replicator to
backup your important programs. David also did a tutorial on this
software and it is a freeware. David's tutorial can also be found on
the audio page under file management heading and it is the first item.

You can get the download for Karen's Replicator at:

http://www.jaws-users.com/programs/

It is the 22nd item under the file management utility heading.

Take care,

Lennie

At 07:02 PM 11/11/2010, you wrote:

Hello everybody:

My computer crashed on October 27 and I have now rec4eived it from
the shop. It has been a long day for me to install all my software
and I need to look at about 1500 messages.

Before I do this, I saw a message today about what Google has done
and I need to know what that is. I will attend to my e-mails tomorrow.

Is there a way that I can secure my programs, etc. so that if
something happens to my computer I can restore everything? The
crash occurred as a result of a lightning bolt so I have to buy a
piece of equipment that will keep my machine intact.

my programs as soon as possible.

Not having a computer for nearly two weeks didn't go so well with me as my

Hi Frances,

The best way to secure your programs in event of failure is to use Image
for Windows. David have done a couple of tutorials on backing up the
computer and restoring it.

I tried the demo version which you can do for 30 days. You can find out
more about it at:

http://www.terabyteunlimited.com/image-for-windows.htm

Here is the URL for the download page:

http://www.terabyteunlimited.com/downloads-image-for-windows.htm

Here is the URL for David's tutorial. It is under the utility heading,
items 4 and 5:

http://www.jaws-users.com/audio/

Hope this will help you. You can also use Karen's Replicator to backup
your important programs. David also did a tutorial on this software and it
is a freeware. David's tutorial can also be found on the audio page under
file management heading and it is the first item.

You can get the download for Karen's Replicator at:

http://www.jaws-users.com/programs/

It is the 22nd item under the file management utility heading.

Take care,

Lennie

2010-11-12 Thread Lennie

Hi David,

Unfortunately, Using scripts from Jaws 9 and Jaws 11 did not work.

I removed the Quicken scripts from Jaws 12 and pasted the Jaws 9
scripts in Jaws 12 Enu folder and it did not make any difference. The
same is likewise for Jaws 11.

Thinking that I have to unload Jaws and bring it up again did not
change anything.

I have a request. Can you try a test transaction using the split
screen and see what you get?

Also, I try to recompile the script and I got an error. I appreciate
any suggestions if you feel that I did not follow proper procedures.

BTW, I wrote to support at Freedom Scientific and all they told me
that Quicken 2003 is no longer supported and that I will have to
continue to use Jaws 11 for all my split transactions.

Darn! Take care,

One more problem with Jaws 12 for Eudora users. That is probably no
longer supported either and there are some things that are not
working properly like it did in Jaws 11. I will have to use Jaws 11
for Eudora too.

David,

I have been using Quicken for 7 years too. I started with windows98
the first year and I don't remember the version of Jaws I was using then.

When I got my XP computer in 2004, I installed Quicken 2003 and
imported my files from the old computer. I have been doing great with
each version of Jaws until the latest version.

With each version of Jaws, I never brought the original scripts
forward to the next version of Jaws. So, my question to you is this.

Did you bring all the Quicken files from the script manager or just
the JSS file and recompile? Since I did not copy the previous Quicken
scripts, should I just bring the scripts from Jaws 11 only or should
I go back to the oldest version that I have which is Jaws 9?

I appreciate any help that you can provide me and I thank you in advance.

Take care,

Hi,

I just installed Jaws 12 the other day and today I used my Quicken
2003 for the first time with the new version of Jaws.

I cane across a problem and I am wondering if anyone on the list
experience the same problem.

Jaws is reading the register okay and seems to report the heading
such as date, num, payee etc. okay.

However, when I did CTRL+S to record split transactions, Jaws 12
could not read category, memo and amount. All that I heard was
account setting and blanks as I tabbed through each field.

I had to exit Jaws 12 and restart Jaws 11 to correctly read the split
screen. Has anyone else noticed this? And if you are not having any
problems with the split screen and Jaws 12, I sure would like to know
how you got it to work?

I am thinking that the problem lies with the scripts and I did do the
the utility merge from Jaws 11 to Jaws12. Would it be wise to take
the scripts from Jaws11 and insert it into Jaws12?

Any suggestions and help would be greatly be appreciated since I use
Quicken 2003 heavily.

Thanks and take care,

Lennie

Re: [JAWS-Users] What has Google done?

2010-11-12 Thread Don Marang
Thanks to your earlier work, I bought Image for Windows a while back. It
has saved me several times! Not only is going back to a known good, clean
virus free source the only real way to fix a virus / spyware infection,
doing so from a saved disk image is the fastest! I did need to recover a
disk image because of a virus this year. I also feel free to experiment
more with my Operating System. I make sure my image is current. This is
easy since you can still use your computer while Image for Windows makes a
backup image. Then if my experiment goes bad, I can just recover the backup
image from the external USB hard drive. In a few hours, my computer is back
to working order, including all applications and settings.

I use the Image for Linux software, which comes with Image for Windows. To
make this bootable recover disk accessible, I base it on a live Vinux DVD,
which has speech enabled at all times. I add a hand full of partition /
undelete / anti-virus / forensic / password recovery tools. Other than
creating the live Vinux Rescue DVD and optionally a live Vinux Rescue USB
Flash drive, it is not essential to know Linux. To recover from the
external drive just boot from the DVD or USB Flash drive, log into Vinux and
press Enter on the Image for Linux icon on the desktop.

Here are the instructions for creating a Talking bootable Linux Rescue DVD:
http://wiki.vinuxvirtual.org.uk/index.php?title=Vinux_How-To_Page#Create_a_Vinux_Rescue_DVD_Which_Includes_Image_for_Linux

There is just so much stuff in the world that, to me, is devoid of any real
substance, value, and content that I just try to make sure that I am working
on things that matter.

Re: [JAWS-Users] What has Google done?

2010-11-12 Thread Betsy Whitney, Dolphin Press

Hi,
We use ClickFree backup. We paid about $140 and we backup four
computers on the same unit. It will backup just your files unless you
specifically tell it to backup the programs. When my hard drive
crashed recently, it was almost a painless experience. You literally
plug it into a USB port and it takes over. When it is done, usually
within 3 minutes, it tells you that your files are safe. It seems to
be JAWS friendly, but a person rarely has to interact with it.
I don't have a web address but just search for ClickFree Backup and
you'll find it.
