Hi there, If you mean fast switching from user of the OS, yes it works and JFW will remain on. I've done so by accident with no problems, but cannot remember the key stroke combo. HTH! Re: [JAWS-Users] question how to display addressiss in IE 6.
Hi Mitch; Try the following to get your address bar back. This is a note I saved / stole from our esteemed moderator Mister Justice. LOL It sounds like your address bar has somehow moved, and that is why it is not performing as expected. Try this: 1. While in Internet Explorer, go to the view menu, and then open the toolbars sub-menu. 2. Arrow to, lock the toolbars, and if it is checked, uncheck it. 3. Route Jaws to PC, and then go to the top of the page, and then search with the Jaws cursor until you find the word address. 4. With the cursor positioned on any part of the word, address, do a double left mouse click. 5. Now, return to the PC cursor, and then try the F6 key to see if this puts the URL into focus. 6. If this works, return to the view menu, and then the toolbars sub-menu, and check, lock the toolbars. If you cannot focus on the word address, you may need sighted assistance. Re: [JAWS-Users] Removing links
Hi Wayne; If you want to copy this document from the Internet without all the HTML crap & paste into a new document do the following; 1. Open your browser & go to the link / webpage you want to copy. 2. Press Insert / Jaws key +V, for Jaws options. 3. Press the letter V, to land on Virtual Cursor options & if it's closed press the right arrow to open. 4. Arrow down 1 time to, select & copy. 5. Press the spacebar until Jaws reads, select & copy from virtual cursor, press enter to select & close Jaws options 6. Now you can copy & paste the information without all the HTML stuff. Hope this helps. Take care. Re: [JAWS-Users] Removing links
Wayne, This solution won't be much better than my notepad solution, but you may give it a try and see what happens. Rather than just paste with control-v take a look at paste special. I don't have Word on this box, but I did an experiment with WordPad. When I did a straight cut and paste, I got the links in the WordPad document. When I looked at paste special, I had the option of Rich Text, or Unformatted Text. When I chose unformatted, the links didn't show up. -- Blue skies. Dan Rossi Carnegie Mellon University. Re: [JAWS-Users] Removing links
I just did a test and did a select all on a web page, then cut and pasted it into notepad, not Word, and the word link did not show up anywhere. Don't know what that would do for your formatting, but it might be a start. BTW, the "say link type" checkbox seems to be for mailto links, ftp links, and a couple of others like that. I never realized that you couldn't turn off the saying of link and visited link. I always assumed that would simply be a verbosity setting. Seems stupid not to have the ability to turn that off. Re: [JAWS-Users] turning off the display
Not true, there are some notebooks that do allow you to turn off the display entirely. My older Averatec for example used function key with f3 to toggle the display off and on; while the f4 and f5 adjusted the brightness. Here is a link to a small utility that will turn off the display on a laptop when you run the executable file. The problem for us is that when you hit any key after that, it turns it back on. Other manufacturers may have a similar command implemented with their function key, you'd need to check their documentation. http://www.redmondpie.com/downloadscenter/TurnOffLCDv101.zip - Original Message - From: "tim" To: Sent: Thursday, March 17, 2011 8:58 AM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] turning off the display With laptops or netbooks. When I put the DVD in the computer, windows media player comes up, and when I tab around, I see that the play button has been pressed. However, there is no sound or picture. My sighted wife comes along and presses play, and it works. What am I doing wrong, and is there a better player to play DVDs, more accessible to jaws 12? Re: [JAWS-Users] Putting DVD's onto a computer?
If your talking about movies or videos of a type. it can be done with software to rip and convert it to a .avi that the computer can use. you can put the whole dvd on computer, but that also takes up about 4gig of space for each unless converted. So what type you playing with? Re: [JAWS-Users] outlook express how do I change view of Email folders.
When you group by thread, it goes by subject not sender. Not sure if outlook does, but Eudora and Mac mail both have this capability for deletion. Re: [JAWS-Users] turning off the display
With laptops or netbooks. That can't be done. You can turn down the display but not off. Unlike with mac's and there screen curtain. they just don't have that function. Also no pc screen reader has that function. At 06:33 PM 3/16/2011, you wrote: I have Jaws v11 on my HP Windows XP Netbook. I use my HP Netbook often in public places.
