I thought that I would try again and see if I can explain myself a bit better. Sense I have started using Windows 7, I have been having a problem with using alt tab to switch between programs. For example, lets say that I have open JAWS, Excel, Word, Outlook, and Internet Explorer. I am in Excel and I need to look up something on the net so I alt tab over to Internet Explorer. Now, I try to alt tab back to Excel but I cannot. Alt tab will only go between IE and JAWS. So, I use insert F10 to bring up the JAWS window list and select Excel from there. Now that I have done that, I can again alt tab between all of the open programs. Is there a setting that I can change to make it so that all of the open programs are always in the alt tab rotation? I don't know for sure that Windows 7 is what is causing the problem but I have used all flavors of Windows back to Windows 3.1 and I have not had this problem before. I upgraded to JAWS 13 at the same time that I upgraded to Windows 7 so I suppose that JAWS could be the problem. I would appreciate any suggestions. Re: [JAWS-Users] Openning pdf links from Google search results
I think your Adobe Reader is set to use the IE Add-In. For accessibility, especially on large PDF documents, I find it better to have it open in the Adobe Reader application. To set this, do the following: 1. Find the Adobe Reader X in the Start menu under All Programs. 2. Hit Enter on the Adobe Reader X item to open the full application. 3. Press Alt + e, to open the Edit menu. Arrow up to Accessibility and arrow right to the sub menu and select Setup Assistant 4. On the 5th page of 5 there is a checkbox forDisplay PDF documents in a web browser. Uncheck this box. 5. Finish the Assistant wizard and close the Reader application. I hope this solves your issues! *Don Marang* Vinux Package Development Coordinator - vinuxproject.org http://www.vinuxproject.org/ On 7/10/2012 8:02 PM, Cristobal wrote: Hello list, So I was wondering if anyone could lend me a hand. Right clicking and selecting the save as option doesn't help since all it is is a url and openning in another tab or window doesn't bring anything up either. I do know that being able to view a pdf will depend on the quality of the pdf and whether it's just an image of text or text itself and so on, but assuming that at least one result has got to be more or less ledgible text, how can I go about either getting Jaws to read it or to be able to download the file first? All this is in IE9. I may even give it a try in Firefox and play with some add-ons, but would like to know if it's possible to do this with IE or without having to use some other third party add-on with Mozilla first. Hi. For me when running jaws with outlook 2007 or 2010 on windows 7 and xp with jaws 11 and 13 jaws is very slow when reading messages. Maybe it's because I use the reading pain but I don't like having to press enter and open my messages to read them. I just switched to nvda when reading messages most of the time. [JAWS-Users] MS Word 2007 and Page Break
To all Listers: I have a rather unusual problem. Using Windows Vista (32 bit), JAWS version 11 and MS Word 2007, I saved a PDF file to MS Word. It consisted of 17 pages. I had pressed the Enter key to seperate several of the headings, because they were all crowded together. On one page, after pressing the Enter key twice (as a double space), it had inserted another page. I have tried to remove the extra page, but it would not remove it. I've read so much about Ninite on this list and I'd like to try it. However, I don't seem to understand, is it free or not? If not, how can I decide if it works for me without paying for it first? It looks like a great program, but Windows7 hasn't been as friendly to me as previous versions of Windows. And speaking of programs, has anyone heard of one called Speedmax? I asked this a few weeks ago, but since I received no response I'm assuming no one has. Is that correct? I'm running Windows7 with latest version of JAWS 13. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Re: [JAWS-Users] MS Word 2007 and Page Break
Hello Jerry, You might consider using the Find and Replace dialog box to remove all manual page breaks. 1. Use CTRL+H to move focus into the Replace page of the dialog box. 2. In the Find What edit box type a caret followed by a small m. (The caret is a shift on the number 6 and be sure not to capitalize the m). 3. Tab to the replace edit box but just leave it blank if you don't want to replace the manual page breaks with anything else. 4. If you want to keep any of the manual page breaks then tab to the Replace button and use spacebar. You can then use the Next button to move to the manual page breaks and remove one at a time. Otherwise, tab to the Replace all button and use spacebar. 5. Word will let you know how many manual page breaks it removed and you can press spacebar on the OK button. Take care. Fred: I can help you via skipe or in my online classroom at http://www.blindaccesstraining.com/ if you need further assistance. Some times, if we discuss it in real time voice chat, things would make sense for all involved. Some times when a rule states that there is an error with my experience, its because I created a rule for a folder that didn't exist, which I am not saying that is what you did but something to think about. And, if you want to add me to skipe for future support, you may add blindaccesstrainer if you use skipe that is. Finally, I will not charge you for providing support smile! [JAWS-Users] JAWS 13 with virtual machines?
Hi all, I haven't really explored this at all, but I'm interested in playing around with a virtual machine. Does anybody know if these are accessible with JAWS, both to use and set up? Thanks, Grant For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS 13 with virtual machines?
Hello Grant, I was testing some unatended installation copys of win7, using VMware WorkStation, and found it accesseble even with jaws 11.0, it has alot of hotkeys you nead to read about it, its easy to use for the advance computer users, I didn't like its voice quality, its still virtual, and the speed of the movement onit is not the same on a regular meshene at the end it got the job done for me, and for others i think. and its the best way to test another OS, if u don't have non busy computer to do it. yes, in cace if u don't know u nead to install jaws for the OS in the virtual pc, cause the one installed on the host pc wont access the virtual one. take care...
