I corresponded with the builder and the N number was cancelled - I verified it on the FAA website. It is now in a Hold-reserve state with Cancelled/Not Assigned. I get nervous myself with questionable paperwork and it sounds like this nice little bird (if still that way) is not ready to take to the air as implied. I have seen several hold, cancelled, not assigned statuses on the FAA site in the past. They don't do a great job keeping the site updated when changes are taking place with an N number. Call the registration branch and ask what the real deal with the number is. The people in the registration branch are surprisingly helpfull for government employees, but it does take forever to get through to them on the phone. It is like calling in to will a million dollars on the radio. I think there are only two of them on the phones in that office. -- Original Message -- From: "Benjamin Copeland"Reply-To: KRnet List-Post: krnet@list.krnet.org Date: Thu, 20 Nov 2008 20:51:00 -0500 >Guys, > >Something is not right with N5424N. I'm pretty familiar with N5424N and the builder in Asheville NC - I went to purchase it in 2006 and the owner decided not to sell while filling out the papers. It was a sad day for me - the closest I've gotten to getting a KR2. My wife and I fit inside nicely too. :( The airframe was donated to a non-profit last year without engine (FW forward) or instruments. The non-profit re-sold the airframe. Email me offline if you want to know more. I'd love to see pictures of the rejuvenated 5424N. Ben

There was a video down at the bottom of the listing. It was a link to utube. Larry H. The link I copied onto my query email was for a KR2 I saw listed on E-bay. I didn't see any video, only 21 still photos of a fairly nice looking KR2. Did you guys see a video of this same airplane (N5424N) somewhere? If so send me a link. The bidding has closed, and the highest bid of $13,100 did not meet the seller's reserve, so he still has it. As it is fairly near where I live, and still might be in my financial reach (depending on what his reserve actually was) I am trying to contact him to get him to let me come over and look at it. so I would like as much information as I can get about this particular KR2 as I can get before I do that. thanks, Todd Thelin Spanaway, WA The video did look interesting. From: "rdrace...@aol.com" rdrace...@aol.com Subject: KR> N5424N Does anyone know anything about this KR2. The video did look interesting. Not sure what airplane did the flying in it though. The plane showed taking off in it had white wheelpants, the plane with the two guys in it taxing around did not have wheel pants. I guess it could have been a video from a different day but not the taxiing day. The engine cowling of the plane flying and landing seemed to be more rounded on top than the KR on the ground. Just my opinion of course. Larry H.

Does anyone know anything about this KR2. I have been looking for a flying one to buy and found this one on E-bay. I don't like the idea of bidding on something that I haven't seen or touched, but it looks like a fairly nice airplane. It is currently located with in about 5 hours drive of my area so I will try and get the present owner to let me come look at it if he doesn't get his price on e-bay. If anyone knows anything about the history of it I would like to know more about it.
