[lace-chat] humour
Confession An elderly man walks into a confessional. The following conversation ensues: Man: 'I am 92 years old, have a wonderful wife of 70 years, many children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Yesterday, I picked up two college girls, hitch-hiking. We went to a motel, where I had sex with each of them three times.' Priest: 'Are you sorry for your sins?' Man: 'What sins?' Priest: 'What kind of a Catholic are you?' Man: 'I'm Jewish.' Priest: 'Why are you telling me al this?' Man: 'I'm 92 years old .. I'm telling everybody!' Brothel Trip An elderly man goes into a brothel and tells the madam he would like a young girl for the night. Surprised, she looks at the ancient man and asks how old he is. 'I'm 90 years old,' he says. '90!' replies the woman. 'Don't you realize you've had it?' 'Oh, sorry,' says the old man. 'How much do I owe you?' .. A married Irishman went into the confessional and said to his priest, 'I almost had an affair with another woman.' The priest said, 'What do you mean, almost?' The Irishman said, 'Well, we got undressed and rubbed together, but then I stopped.' The priest said, 'Rubbing is the same as putting it in. You'r not to see that woman again. For your penance, say five Hail Marys and put $50 in the poor box.' The Irishman left the confessional, said his prayers, and then walked over to the poor box. He paused for a moment and then started to leave. The priest, who was watching, quickly ran over to him saying, 'I saw that. You didn't put any money in the poor box!' The Irishman replied, 'Yeah, but I rubbed the $50 on the box, and according to you, that's the same as putting it in!' Lemon Squeeze There once was a religious young woman who went to Confession. Upon entering the confessional, she said, 'Forgive me, Father, for I have sinned.' The priest said, 'Confess your sins and be forgiven.' The young woman said, 'Last night my boyfriend made mad passionate love to me seven times.' The priest thought long and hard and then said, 'Squeeze seven lemons into a glass and then drink the juice.' The young woman asked, 'Will this cleanse me of my sins?' The priest said, 'No, but it will wipe that smile off of your face.' .. Looks of Disappointment A man was just waking up from anesthesia after surgery, and his wife was sitting by his side. His eyes fluttered open and he said, 'You're beautiful.' Then he fell asleep again. His wife had never heard him say that before, so she stayed by his side. A few minutes later his eyes fluttered open and he said, 'You're cute..' The wife was disappointed because instead of 'beautiful,' it was no 'cute.' She asked, 'What happened to beautiful?' The man replied, 'The drugs are wearing off.' Catholic Dog Muldoon lived alone in the Irish countryside with only a pet dog for company.. One day the dog died, and Muldoon went to the parish priest and asked, 'Father, my dog is dead... Could ya' be saying' a mass for the poor creature?' Father Patrick replied, 'I'm afraid not; we cannot have services for an animal in th church But there are some Baptists down the lane, and there's no tellin' what they believe. Maybe they'll do something for the creature.' Muldoon said, 'I'll go right away Father. Do ya' think $5,000 is enough to donate to them for the service?' Father Patrick exclaimed, 'Sweet Mary, Mother of Jesus! Why didn't ya tell me the dog was Catholic? .. Pest Control A woman was having a passionate affair with an Irish inspector from a pest-control company.. One afternoon they were carrying on in the bedroom together when her husband arrived home unexpectedly. 'Quick,' said the woman to the lover, 'into the closet!' and she pushed him in the closet, stark naked. The husband, however, became suspicious and after a search of the bedroom discovered the man in the closet.. 'Who are you?' he asked him.. 'I'm an inspector from Bugs-B-Gone,' said the exterminator. 'What are you doing in there?' the husband asked.. 'I'm investigating a complaint about an infestation of moths,' the man replied. 'And where are your clothes?' asked the husband. The man looked down at himself and said, 'Those little bastards!'.. . Marriage Humour Wife: 'What are you doing?' Husband: Nothing. Wife: 'Nothing...? You've been reading our marriage certificate for an hour.' Husband:
Re: [lace-chat] slow times?
Lace and Chat both seem to be very slow arriving these days. We had a very quiet halloween, only 10 kids this year. I am doing my best to eat up all the candy as fast as I can to get it out of the house! This year I bought half as much as last year and it was still too much. Does anyone have a recipe for a cake that will keep for over a week. I have to take a dessert to an event but will be away for most of the week prior to it, arriving home in time to go straight out to the party. I was thinking a Dundee fruit cake but the two recipes I have both include mixed peel which I dislike. Any ideas apart from just leaving it out? Bake a cake and freeze it? Most of my recipes seem to freeze with no difficulty, but maybe not fruit cake (which I don't like and so don't make!) [lace-chat] Cake recipe for Janice
Dear Janice, Does anyone have a recipe for a cake that will keep for over a week. This recipe came originally from arachne and I just love it. It becomes more moist as the days go by. Enjoy David in Ballarat Mystery Tomato Soup Cake Ingredients: 4oz butter 10oz flour (plain) 4oz walnuts 0.5 teaspoon cloves 2 level teaspoons baking powder 0.25 teaspoon nutmeg 6oz brown sugar 6oz raisins 0.25 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1 level teaspoon bicarbonate of soda 1 tin HEINZ tomato soup (10.5 oz size ) Chop the walnuts. Cream the butter and sugar together, and add the bicarbonate of soda, and the soup gradually (It always look awful at the point but carry on ). Mix together the baking powder, flour, salt and spices and add to the butter etc stirring in lightly. Stir in the raisins and walnuts put the mixture into a greased 7 dish and bake in a slow oven (300f) for 1.75-2hrs Self raising flour can be used if you leave out the baking powder. Eat and enjoy it stays beautifully moist and seems to improve with keeping although it doesn't stay around long in this house. [lace-chat] Chocolate Applesauce Fruitcake
Hi Janice, I have a cake recipe that keeps very well in the refrigerator for more than a week. Make it in loaf pans, slice just before you serve it. No frosting needed. This has been a family favorite since I was a child. My mother created it as an alternative to the standard fruitcakes that we wouldn't eat. Chocolate Applesauce Fruitcake Dump into a large mixing bowl: 2 cups flour 1 cup sugar 1 Tablespoon cornstarch 3 Tablespoons (heaping) powdered chocolate 2 teaspoons baking soda 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg 1/2 teaspoon cloves Make a hollow in the middle of the dry ingredients. Add: 2 cups applesauce Make a hollow in the middle of the applesauce. Add: 1 egg With mixing spoon, lightly beat egg, then stir it into the applesauce, then mix the whole thing together. Add: 1 Tablespoon oil 1/4 cup sherry or brandy (optional) Fruits, as desired (can be made without fruit) Chopped nuts Raisins, currents Chopped dried apricots or other fruits Citrus bits Pour in baking pans. (I like use non-stick spray lightly in pans.) Bake at 350 degrees. One large bundt panone hour 2 large bread loaves30-40 minutes Small bread loaves20-25 minutes I like to put walnut halves or maraschino cherries on top of the loaves before baking, just to decorate the tops. Let rest only a couple minutes after removing from the oven, then loosen edges and tip out of pans. Let cool on racks. When cool, wrap in plastic wrap or put in plastic bags. Refrigerate. Alice in Oregona beautiful day today, and the contractor has not shown up to finish the driveway. Gr. The painters came and had to leave because the other work wasn't done. - Original Message - Does anyone have a recipe for a cake that will keep for over a week. Re: [lace-chat] slow times?
Mmm, malt loaf sound good, but so does David's Tomato soup cake. Looking at the first recipe for malt loaf, I can't remember ever seeing Ovaltine in the supermarket over here, but then I don't think I have ever looked for it. The second recipe to me is a bran loaf, but the third recipe might work as I think I have the golden syrup and malt already. Maybe I should make malt loaf and David's cake to see which looks the best to take, although the one Alice sent sounds good too. Thanks for the recipes. [lace-chat] Chocoalte Applesauce Cake...addendum
I just wanted to add a note to my recipe. I always put the dried fruits in a pan with water and bring them to a boil. Turn off the heat and let them sit for awhilewhile I'm getting out and measuring all my other stuff. Drain well before adding to the batter. This makes the fruits soft and plumped up. Talking about this reminded me that I want to make something for the church bazaar next week, and these cakes would be the perfect thing since I have to make them several days before the sale. So, next Tuesday I'll be baking goodies. Alice in Oregon ... where my driveway contractor finally called, and is coming to put in gravel today. Maybe there's hope for concrete soon. Re: [lace-chat] slow times?
Ah..No need. The cake can be taken pre-sliced and laid out on a platter. There's no one to tell that a slice is missing. Alice in Oregon.where gravel is being spread with a bulldozer right now. Concrete is to be here Friday. It's possible that I may get a driveway this month. It will have to set up before being used, so...maybe next month we can use it. - Original Message - Janice, Of course you need to make two of each cake so you can taste them both before deciding which to take :-D Jean in Poole, Dorset, UK To unsubscribe send email to majord...@arachne.com containing the line: unsubscribe lace-chat y...@address.here. [lace-chat] Buffalo wings and spicy foods
I am allergic to cheese, and find it hard to eat out, as everything seems to be smothered in it these days. I can eat butter, and cream, but yoghurt - the fruit variety in small does is OK, but the Greek style is far too close to cheese for me to eat. They even have cheese over roast dinners, - well the potato and vegies, so I wind up, - if I am lucky_ with chips - fries in USA, I think! And sometimes they seem to think I am kidding. Well, - the results of me eating cheese is - to be polite, - like severe travel or sea sickness, and I am sure they would not like That everywhere!!! :-) Why do they have to muck about with food like that?!!! A nice gravy would be much better than cheese sauce over it all!!! :-) Regards from Liz in Melbourne lizl...@bigpond.com To unsubscribe send email to majord...@arachne.com containing the line: unsubscribe lace-chat y...@address.here.
