Since LO 7.5 is EOL by now, I would suggest trying with a newer version. I am not saying that it will solve whichever caused the crash, but surely version 7.5 will not receive any new updates. With a newer version, please report whether you have a similar behavior, or any relevant information. For example, is the crash happening repeatedly? https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=161580 Bug ID: 161580 Summary: Calc crashing, becoming unresponsive, and corrupting a spreadsheet while inserting a file into a cell. EDITING Product: LibreOffice Version: 7.5.7.1 release Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64) OS: Windows (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Calc Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: and...@crannapowell.com Description: I am in the process of migrating to Libre Office from MS Office. So far it has been going well with Writer and Calc being the apps in scope right now. I maintain a spreadsheet of significant household purchases and I include a soft copy of the invoice or receipt for each in purchase inserted into a cell of each purchase row. The soft copy files are a mix of JPGs and PDFs. This time I needed to convert an Outlook email into a saveable format for the spreadsheet and so converted it to a .HTM file as there were a limited number of choices. I then discovered the process for inserting a file into Calc worked quite differently from MS Office. I tried a number of different methods within Calc to do it, but they twice resulted in Calc crashing (and a dialogue coming up to submit a bug report). Calc then offered to recover the files I had open and I clicked Ok to do that. I can't recall all the steps in the process, but Calc eventually became unresponsive and I had to reboot the laptop. I opened the spreadsheet in Calc again and found it had lost all the previously inserted JPGs and PDFs. Excel confirmed this. Thankfully I was able to recover my corrupted spreadsheet from backup. I went back to Excel and inserted the .HTM file as required and it all worked normally. Calc can now open the spreadsheet and I can view the newly inserted .HMT file. This was a real shock to have an office app crash so badly and corrupt data in the process. What happened here??? Steps to Reproduce: 1.The process as far as I can recall it is shown in the Description 2. 3. Actual Results: As per the description Expected Results: As per the description Reproducible: Didn't try User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: Nothing to add. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=151914 László Németh changed: What|Removed |Added Status|REOPENED|RESOLVED Resolution|--- |WONTFIX --- Comment #9 from László Németh --- Hunspell dictionary files are simple text files, so it's possible to extend it with the requested words and affixes, according to its format, i.e. affix-compressed or not: After affix compression, it's not possible to add a simple /MS to the .dic file, but it needs to use an existing affix class defined in the .aff file, or defining a new affix class there, and use its index in the .dic file. With the suggested LibreOffice enhancement, it wouldn't be possible to change the dictionary with its affix-compressed version without breaking the (Hunspell format-dependent) user dictionary. The existing "Grammar By" feature is similar to the affix-compressed Hunspell dictionary format: it's based on an affix class, i.e. a flag sequence. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=150582 László Németh changed: What|Removed |Added Resolution|--- |FIXED Assignee|nem...@numbertext.org |libreoffice-b...@lists.free ||desktop.org Status|ASSIGNED|RESOLVED --- Comment #7 from László Németh --- Fixed in master, started back-port to 24.2 (and 24.8). @xordevore...@gmail.com and all: thanks for the bug report and feedback! Commit description: tdf#150582 linguistic: fix always rejected words with U+2019 apostrophe During spell checking, words added to the user dictionaries still weren't recognized by Calc, Impress and Draw because of the unnecessary conversion their typographic apostrophes to ASCII apostrophes. Note: Writer has no such problem because of its (obsolete) apostrophe conversion for the user dictionary. First skip the obsolete apostrophe conversion in isValid(), but keep it as a fallback for Writer users. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

[Bug 161544] html document can't be converted/saved to format with pages (odf, doc,...)
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=161544 --- Comment #6 from Grigory S --- Hmm... maybe you are right, but - ODS, for example, contains principially another content: spredsheet for calculation. Transparent switching to Calc is this case natural. HTML, ODT, DOC, RTF, ... all have the _same_ content: text with more or less advanced formatting. It would be natural to transparently convert each type of file on the input and only use the format selection on the output, "Save for Web". Like MS Word. Writer for Web - totally unnecessary app. Of course this is philosophy... :) I am not new to working with LibreOffice; have prepared about many docs and ~10 large books, including layout. Some are printed without using others desktop publishing soft. For myself, I would solve this problem with some workaround in 2 min, not two days. But now I’m preparing a book about Writer (in Russian) and therefore I’m exploring different possibilities. Oops! First case, when found himself in a dead end. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

[Bug 161574] New: Name index-related context menu items based on the type of index that was right-clicked
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=161574 Bug ID: 161574 Summary: Name index-related context menu items based on the type of index that was right-clicked Product: LibreOffice Version: unspecified Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Keywords: needsUXEval Severity: trivial Priority: low Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: ilmari.lauhakan...@libreoffice.org CC: libreoffice-ux-adv...@lists.freedesktop.org A user on Twitter pointed out that we always say "Update/Edit/Remove Index" in the right-click context menu for an index. Ideally we should name the exact type instead of just Index there. If you're wondering about the cultural history of indexes: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Index_(publishing) We have seven types of indexes, so implementing this would require creating 21 new translatable strings. The Navigator also has "Delete Index", but the use there is clearer as the user is looking at a tree named "Indexes". The commands are FN_UPDATE_CUR_TOX aka .uno:UpdateCurIndex FN_EDIT_CURRENT_TOX aka .uno:EditCurIndex FN_REMOVE_CUR_TOX aka .uno:RemoveTableOf The .uno commands you will find in many .xml files defining popup menus. Their visibility in the context menu is controlled in SwTextShell::GetIdxState() of sw/source/uibase/shells/textidx.cxx SwView::GetState() of sw/source/uibase/uiview/viewstat.cxx Probably a pile of conditions would be required to satisfy this request. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
[Bug 161555] Missing shape algebra operation: Fragment
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=161555 --- Comment #6 from Regina Henschel --- I admit that a solution for more than two shapes with the UI is too complex. A solution using macros is also complex because the required methods from basegfx are not available in macros but only the .uno commands can be used if you do not want to emulate the methods from basegfx as macro methods. Problems with the intersect and subtract .uno commands are: the shapes need to be inserted in a page, they relay on z-order, they work with a marked objects collection on the view. So I now think, it is a valid feature request. (In reply to Eyal Rozenberg from comment #5) > Really? Please sketch out the code for that macro. For the general case of N > shapes of course. An algorithm looks straight forward to me in principle, but details are complex: Copy first shape from collection into result vector. for each shape in collection starting with second shape do prepare temp vector current shape = next shape from collection. for each shape of result vector do subtract current shape from result vector shape and add this subtraction to temp vector. for each shape of result vector do subtract result vector shape from current shape and add this subtraction to temp vector. for each shape of result vector do intersect current shape with result vector shape and add this intersection to temp vector. replace result vector with temp vector. next return result vector -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

(In reply to Eike Rathke from comment #4) > The artificial trinity stems from Microsoft Word Referring you to the same comment - internally, MS Office is past that trinity now, at least for specifying fonts.
