I've had several transmission failures and none ever made a harsh warning noise. On Sat, Apr 13, 2019 at 6:17 PM Curley McLain via Mercedes < mercedes@okiebenz.com> wrote: > Thanks for the ideas. Thanks for the ideas. Good info Don. I would have expected some noise if a tc dies. I had intended to convert this car to 4sp, but given its intended use, I've decided to leave it as auto. Now I just have to decide what/how much to do to the used spare I have before it goes in. B2 piston, k3 spring, I guess, but something under another $100 will pay for new guts, if i want to take the time and $$$ to do it. I'd really like to get sun valley to rebuild it, but can't justify the , when $$$ will fix it. OK Don via Mercedes wrote on 4/13/19 3:56 PM: Mine did not make noise when it died in the 450SLC. Yeah, something that major I would suspect a bad torque converter or failed pump.
