and epoxied it into the below socket.  After that I just got a nice and 
long 1/4 drive extension...  works *great* on my 2.5T.  Haven't used it 
on my '87 300TD yet.  See pictures for finished product.

Yours is more elegant than mine, with the swivel socket and epoxy.
Might have to make one like yours.
However, mine had a cost of $0, since I had the 1/4 drive set
already. I've not felt a need for the swivel - with both a long and
short extension to get the ratchet end beyond the manifold.
