I took a 6mm Allen wrench, cut a short section of it off with a Dremel, 
and epoxied it into the below socket.  After that I just got a nice and 
long 1/4" drive extension...  works *great* on my 2.5T.  Haven't used it 
on my '87 300TD yet.  See pictures for finished product.
