Until all build boots are set up and building weekly Developer

build on a virtual machine).

I can build Linux 32 and 64 bits on a 6 core PC, rather fast, but WinXP
builds are built on a virtual machine, so I will take Linux builds.
Oliver can build on his Windows 7 PC, and Jürgen on his Mac.

sounds good, I will built Mac

We should agree what to build:

* full install sets for langauges ...
* language packs for languages ...
* SDK
* URE?

I would suggest that we build an English version + language packs and a
multilingual version with all languages where we build language packs.

And of course the SDK. The URE can we drop from my point of view.

For now i would suggest the folowing languages en-US de es it fr ja zh-CN

We should also agree when the build is done, so that we all build the
same revision.

Packages can be uploaded to each http://people.apache.org/~user

 FYI, not sure if it is intentional but this latest build does not have
 the 'desktop-integration' package for Debian menus that the Buildbot
 package has.

 http://ci.apache.org/projects/openoffice/install/
 ~/DEBS/desktop-integration/openoffice.orgxx-debian-menus_xxx

it is as designed, so it is intentional. Developer Snapshots do not have
desktop integration, this applies to all platforms.

This has the drawback that in order to test some things you have to
install a normal install set that will override your office installation
(for example, OLE automation on Windows is not registered on a Developer
Snapshot; or mime-type icons on all platforms).
On cases like these, I've tried to provide full install sets, see
https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=117010#c25

[build] planning to create new developer snapshots

2012-01-10 Thread Oliver-Rainer Wittmann

Hi,

I am planning to create new developer snapshots from the today's revision.

Ariel is already using his space on people.apache.org to provide such developer
snapshots. I would like to do the same in order to share the effort on such a
'service'.

I am able to create builds under Ubuntu 11.10, 32bit (running in a VirtualBox)
and Windows 7.

@Ariel: May be you can share your 'website' sources/structure. I would use it it
for my people.apache.org 'website'

Any comments/objections/improvements?

Best regards, Oliver.

I would suggest that we use only one page where we can link all provided
builds. That means if you can provide builds, maybe Ariel can contain
them in his overview page. I would add a MacOS build and Linux 64bit on
a regular basis.

This way we can support Ariel and the information is centralized in one
place.

Having only one place is a very good idea - +1 from my side.

Another possibility - in order to share also the effort on maintaining the
'developer snapshot website' - would be to migrate Ariel's website to a wiki
page which links to the packages on different people.apache.org/~[name]/...

http://people.apache.org/~arielch/packages/

Until all build boots are set up and building weekly Developer
Snapshots, may be we can split the task so that each one builds on a target
platform, in a way that it will be easier for all us (== no need to
build on a virtual machine).

I can build Linux 32 and 64 bits on a 6 core PC, rather fast, but WinXP
builds are built on a virtual machine, so I will take Linux builds.
Oliver can build on his Windows 7 PC, and Jürgen on his Mac.

We should agree what to build:

* full install sets for langauges ...
* language packs for languages ...
* SDK
* URE?

We should also agree when the build is done, so that we all build the
same revision.

Packages can be uploaded to each http://people.apache.org/~user
directory, and the index page
http://people.apache.org/~arielch/packages/index.html can be moved to
the wiki.

Ideas, suggestions?
