RE: Talks question
Hi there, It is a Windows Mobile phone. Yes it has a querty keyboard and the buttons are a bit small. This might present a small problem for folks with bigger fingers, but one can get use to it. Hope this helps. Hi Chris, You may have a point here. I guess the reason I thought this was that Talks seemed, when I compared the functions to Mobile Speaks, to be very sluggish. Also there didn't seem to be the same application access. I used Talks 2 different times for about 15 days each. RE: Talks question
Good morning List, Here is the promised information. A few months ago I started hearing talk of a Smart Phone that was fully accessible to blind people. This phone was from Verizon and contained the Talks program. The phone was a Motorola Q-9C and with the speech program cost $249 with a 2 year contract. According to Verizon, the Moto phone was the only one they offered that would do this. Of course I was eager to have a phone that would allow me complete access to all it had to offer. I was currently using the Env 2 and I could read and compose text messages, but as far as simple things like setting an alarm or leaving myself a note, and many other things, it just wouldn't happen. I purchased the phone and found it to work fairly well, but it had a few issues. It came with Pocket Word that wasn't accessible with the Talks program. This left me a bit frustrated because I wanted full use of all the features of this phone, and so I began to inquire of other types of phones and different speech programs. Through my searching, I discovered that the Talks program Verizon sells and on the Moto phone was not the fully functioning version of the program. I was able to return the Moto Q to Verizon for a full refund after hearing of a program called: Mobile Speaks. This program can be used on Smart Phones running Windows Mobile along with Pocket PC's. It works with several different service providers and costs about $300.00. I was able to purchase the Moto Q-9C from an individual and used the Mobile Speaks program for a 30-day trial to make sure I liked all it had to offer. This program works great, and I'm able to use features on a different new phone I've purchased which is called the Ozone from Verizon. I kept the Moto to use as a spare, but I wanted a brand-new phone. Since all of this, I found out that the Talks program, like Mobile Speaks is a fully functioning program, but doesn't work with as many smart phones and with as many carriers. I might also point out that when you purchase a Smart Phone from Verizon that has come out after November of last year, that you must have a Data package with your current plan. A Data package gives you access to the Internet and E-mail from your phone. This is not meant for everyone, but if you think there might be a reason for this function, then a Windows Mobile device running a speech program might be what you need. If anyone has any questions, they can keep the thread going on this list or contact me off list at: tim.mar...@state.nm.us Here is the link to where you can get a trial of the Mobile Speaks software. http://www.codefactory.es To get a good detailed tutorial on installing and using this program, also a place to purchase once you've used the trial of Mobile Speaks: http://www.handytech.us/demos.html Hope all this helps. RE: Has anyone used songselect.com?
Hi there, I used to use CCLI when it was loaded on ones computer. Haven't used the web version. Are you the one that is going to distribute the chord sheets and set up the media projecting? If so, I think it can get a bit complicated for you...But not to say it is impossible! This would depend on your level of progress with computer programs and speech software. As far as playing keyboard in church, most worship music is quite easy to learn. Unlike the hymns, most songs now a days have just a few chords and if you have an ear for music, should be easy for you. I lead worship in my church and we do a great amount of the modern worship songs, and I don't have any problem with them. I play guitar and piano depending on the song. I have to give chord charts to the rest of the musicians, but I memorize both words and chord progressions. Right now I'm leading the faster choruses from the drums and the worship choruses from either keyboard or acoustic guitar. If you can't access the chords and would like my help on anything, please don't hesitate to contact me off list. RE: World's best ear-bud headphones?
Hi there, I have these same Shure ear-buds and they are great. I also have some good Sony's which work great. Mainly what you want are buds that fit at the entrance of the ear canal to get the best bass response, and this will cut out external noise. My Sony's cost me about $60 and the Shure's were about $120. Don't settle for low priced ones, because the quality won't be very good, and most folks can tell the difference. Hope this helps. Hi listers, I just downloaded a couple of audio books, and unfortunately, the person who converted these books didn't convert the files into a single file for each cd, but left all the tracks converted as individual tracks. All I want to do is to take these files, and place them in their proper order, and making one mp3 file for each cd. As of a few minutes ago, I took a look at the batch processing options in Goldwave, but can find no one step way to select all these files, and consolidate all these mp3 files into one file. Is there a way to do this, or must I copy each file, one after the other, adding them to the last mp3 file created in a manual fashion. Surely there has to be an easier way to do this. If some one can instruct me in the best way to go about what it is I am trying to do, I would really appreciate the help. The reason I would like to accomplish this particular task, is to make it easier to listen to these files on my Victor Stream, rather than the Victor classic, because fast forwarding, and rewind are so much better on the stream. RE: R09HR, Zoom H2, or Zoom H4?
Hi Brad, The Sony is usable as far as simple operation. You will need someone to help you get the date and time set when you first turn on the machine. Once this is done, you should be able to record and playback with ease. As far as the menus, it is like any non-talking machine, takes quite a lot of memorizing. It has both an input and output volume knob, which is quite nice. I just received mine Saturday, and had my 10 year old help me with setting date and time. He also told me the name of each button and jac. Besides having great recording quality, the moment you plug it in to the USB on the computer, you have access to all of the folders. Any more questions, let me know. RE: skype problem
Hi Joe, You will need to have the mic and anything else you want to view in volume control selected in the playback area of volume control. When you are in volume control, hit the Alt key and use your arrow up key to go to properties. After selecting properties, tab over a couple times and you will have a list of items you can choose from. The items checked are what will show up under playback in volume control. You will need to check the mic in, then tab to OK, and see if it is there. You can do the same for recording. You would go to properties and hit enter. Then tab once where you will hear playback. You can hit down arrow and you should hear record. If you tab again, you will hear a list of items, some checked, and some not checked, but these are in the recording area of volume control. RE: Equalizing Volume
Hi Barry, I got it. I'll check it out. Is there an easy to batch several files at once? Thanks much. Tim -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Barry Chapman Sent: Monday, May 19, 2008 11:22 PM To: PC Audio Discussion List Subject: Re: Equalizing Volume The advantage of using MP3GAIN over programs such as Sound Forge and Goldwave is that the changes MP3Gain makes are completely lossless. There is no quality lost in the change because the program adjusts the mp3 file directly, without decoding and re-encoding. It is free and you can download it from http://mp3gain.sourceforge.net Note that it won't normalise your wave files. Regards, Barry Chapman - Original Message - From: Michael J. You can point it to a folder of mp3's and it will normalize them all. mike constantine (on laptop) wrote: Hi I'm not sure about sound forge, but in gold wave, when you do a batch process, there's an effects tab. Pressing enter on the add button presents you with a veriety of choices, one of which is maximize volume, and probably a way to normalize it, too. Not sure about sound forge- does it have a batch processing feature? If it does, check around for an effects tab, or something similar. Hope that helps, sorry I don't have sound forge (too expensive for me grin) Have a good day from Tyler C. RE: Digital Recorders Revisited
Hi Don, This is Tim. Does the recorder you wrote about have a power adaptor jack where you can run it without having to use batteries? Also, is it possible to move the recorded files to a PC via the USB? It sounds like a good recorder. I read the specs on the 50 along with the 30, and the main differences seem to be memory...256 mb over 1 gb. I've attached some information on the 30 if anyone wants to read up on it...See below. You might try and use a stand alone speech synthesizer that JFW can sound through. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of George Day Sent: Wednesday, January 16, 2008 10:30 AM To: PC Audio Discussion List Subject: can anyone help please I'm wondering if anyone can help me please? I DJ in pubs and clubs and have recently started playing of a laptop. However, I need to know how I can separate the music coming through the system from my JFW screen reader? Hi all, I use to belong to the MIDI-Mag list and have joined this list in the last couple of days. I am wondering how WE and Sonar work together? I used Cakewalk for years, but need to insert some high sampled wave files in to a editor to edit. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
