[PHP] Help!

2002-02-21 Thread Phillip S. Baker

Hey All,

Last night I was doing some coding.
I am not sure what happened but has anyone run into this error before.

Method Not Allowed

The requested method POST is not allowed for the URL /index.html.

Apache/1.3.19 Server at nocal.mkp.org Port 80

More data about this.
This ONLY appears with NN 4.+

The forms (which have NOTHING to do with index.html, they are all PHP files)
work and submit fine on IE 5.5, NN 6.2 and Opera 6.2

This seems like a server issue rather than a coding issue am I correct?

Phillip

[PHP] % Help

2001-02-20 Thread Jeff Lacy

Hello Everyone,

Could someone please explain the whole % thing? I sort of understand it,
but not quite. My goal is to have a table, and have every row alternate
between 4 colors. I can alternate sort of alternate between 3, but not
quite. I have tried lots of different combinations, but I can't figure it
out.  Thank you very much!

Maybe there should be a better link to it in the manual. The only one I
could find was at http://www.php.net/manual/en/ref.math.php, but it is far
from clear (to me at least).

Jeff Lacy

P.S. Please email me directly, and respond to the list because I am not
really subscribed to it. When I look at the newsgroup, it crashes Outlook
Express, and the list is VERY high volume (for me). Thanks again.

 I'm trying to configure PHP on IRIx 6.5, with NS FastTrack.

 PHP works in the shell, but not thru the server. I checked the log file
and noticed it (server) had a fatal error, because it could not find
 redirect_php.so .

 That file was not included in the distribution and is no where to be
 found.

 What is that file? Where can I get it? Did I miss a step, or something?

 I insstalled PHP from the SGI tar disctribution, from their support
 homepage, so I don't understand why I'm getting that error.

 Please help!

[PHP] Help.

2001-08-16 Thread rajarajeswari balasubramanian

Hi,

I have created a database with the backend of Mysql
and i am accesing the database using PHP scripts.

In the database there is one field, which has the
information of the structure of a molecule as a
Coordinate data.

when i am using the mysql_fetch_array() command to
retrive the data, it's just taking the text part of
the file, which is simply a ASCII characters and
displaying that on the browser screen.

I have a program whihc will take that coordinate file
as the input and it will convert that file into a 3D
structure, i have the exe file of that program.

Now my query is

how do i access this exe file in the php script???,

Is that Possible in some way???

so the data is retrived it has to automatically invoke
the ./xxx file and it will give the 3D rendering of
that data which is in the form of coordinate file.

Please give me some suggestiosn about this.

Thanks in advance.

You can use almost any of the filesystem functions to send that request to
the remote server and collect the output. The request data will not be
visible in the HTML you send to the end-user's browser unless you choose
to make it so.

2002-05-01 Thread Pelillo, Mark

I have two linux boxes running Apache 2.0.35 with PHP 4.2.0RC4. Sunday I
did a bunch work from home on one system, moved to the second system and
everything was working on both systems.. This morning I modifed one section
of code on the second system work and now I don't seem to get anything to
work. I went back to the old stuff that was working and nothing. I have
check the old code and the updated code on system one and it is still
working.

So I went back to the basics. I can execute phpinfo() without a
problem, but if I try to use a simple form to pass variable from an html
page to the php script, I don't get anything from the php script.

Here is the simple html file:

  *First Name:

  *Last Name:

The php script has the following lines

I have tried using both POST and GET. At least with GET I see the url as
"insert-user.php?fn=mark&ln=pelillo". But the echo statements output
nothing.

Any thoughts??

Looks like Apache does not know about PHP :) in your
/usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf file (or another path, if you have set
another prefix while compiling the tarball) you seem to miss this:

 AddType application/x-httpd-php .php
 AddType application/x-httpd-php .phtml
 AddType application/x-httpd-php .php3
 AddType application/x-httpd-php-source .phps

have fun :))

I almost forgot. Also check the module list. It should be
something like this (but you might have much less modules
installed then I do, anyway, just make sure that after
deleting those you don't have the LoadModule and AddModule

if you give it some other module order)

[PHP] help pls..

2002-07-08 Thread Peter

howdy all

my aim is to have a user submit a form and then from there replace cell colours with
in a table. I'm referencing the cells by cell id's eg

   id="ph1">1

   id="ph2">2

   id="ph3">3

   id="ph4">4

now using a switch statement eg

switch( $bg )
{
case "red":
print( "#FF" );
break;
//a few more colours in here
default:
print( "#FF" );
break;
}
what would be the best way to tell it what cell colours to replace on submit would it
be an if, for or a do/while statement that would be the better option ( or any others
that 4 that matter) if i wanted to have just the cells with the ids of ph2 & ph3 to
be changed?

Cheers

Pause for a moment and think about it. You're obviously doing a good job in
maintaining state, but after your update to the database the var which
transfers the data isn't being cleared.

RE: [PHP] Help!

2001-12-09 Thread Jason Lotito

What you need to do is make sure the same person doesn't vote twice
either via cookie, session, or comparing IP address. These are all
simple solutions. For example, if the IP address is the same as stored
in the DB, then the person as tried to vote twice, and you can prevent
that.

What do you do with the var when you finish updating the database? Do you
unset it?
Are you passing the value of your "submit" button as a default?

Use a few echo statements and find out what's going on.

% is the modulus operator, it tells you the remainder after dividing two
numbers.

For example, 5 % 4 will give you the remainder after 5 / 4, which is 1.

A common use for this is to check if a number is even or odd, by doing
modulus 2. E.g.

A practical application of that is inside a for-loop you increment a number
and return a different colour value depending on whether it's even or odd,
to give e.g. each row of a table an alternating background colour.

In your case if you want to alternate between four colours, all you need to
do is change to modulus 4 instead of modulus 2, i.e. $number % 4, and then
check if the remainder is 0, 1, 2 or 3.

Well, this is a mathematical concept rather than PHP language-specific. :)

Perhaps you should be looking in Arithmetical Operators
www.php.net/manual/en/language.operators.php

The modulus operator gives you the value of the remainder after dividing
a by b, so 4 % 3 will give a result of 1; ie 3 goes into 4 once and
leaves a remainder of 1

Or 10 % 3 also gives a result of 1; 20 % 6 gives 2 etc.

Now for your particular problem of alternating table colors, you don't
necessarily need the modulus operator, but using it you could implement
thus:

$color = array('#ff'=>0, 'blue'=>1, 'red' =>2, 'green' =>3);
$row_num = 0;
$how_many_colors = 4;
while {
//Build your row producing logic here
echo "";
// Rest of row info
$row_num++;

}

Mind you, there might be the odd syntax error there; I didn't test this
at all :-) but hopefully you get the idea. The value of $row_num %
$how_many_colors will cycle through 0 - 3 and act as the subscript for
the array of colours. If you want more colours, just increase the number
of values in the array and adjust $how_many_colors accordingly.

Cheers

[PHP] help functions

2001-03-05 Thread Montgomery-Recht, Evan

Has anyone spent any time and thought into including help within the
library, ie. so you could do a.

mysql.connect().help() or something like that so as a developer addeds a new
function we as end users might be able to understand the function. Most
likely by creating a help file to return to the browser because right now
I'm finding a lot of undocumentented features.

thanks,

[PHP] Help! Cookies...

2001-03-14 Thread Jack Sasportas

I am frustrated with cookies, and the whole array aspect of them.
I have looked at sample code on php.net, but it keeps bombing.

Here are my questions:

#1 When passing an array to the cookie, is the array one dimensional
or 2 ?
In other words when the value is stored in the cookie does it look like
this:

cookie_name, value1_of_array, value2_of_array, rest of cookie info
or
cookie_name,name_of_val1= value1_of_array, name_of_val1=
value2_of_array, rest of cookie info

if the first, then do I basically have to query the cookie name for
array position in order to check the value stored there, like

echo $cookie_name[1]

of could I just
echo $name resulting in  value1_of_array ?

Finally if I didn't confuse you...does anyone have a GOOD example of the
proper way to put & get the cookies in an array format ?

THANKS!

[PHP] Help - Lotus

2001-06-27 Thread TV Karthick Kumar

Hi List,

I am working on importing data from Lotus Organizer 5.0 to an ddress
book application, written in PHP.

If there's a space in the address field, it looks this when I see the
.vcf file, after creating it.

Note the " =0D=0A=0D=0A= " in:
NOTE;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:Description, Profile /
Note.=0D=0A=0D=0A=
~ Karthick=0D=0A

And some times, there's just a " = " symbol coming up in the field types
and values and here's an example:
ADR;HOME;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:;;3, Granby Row, Apartment 4,
Dubli=
n 1.;Home dublin city;Home dublin state;1;IE

How do I overcome this problem and make it work properly ?. Pls. let me
know.

Thanks in adv.

[PHP] PHP Help!

2001-04-19 Thread Anthony Daniels

Hello,

I am a Newbie at PHP and I have what may be a simple question.

I will try and describe my situation the best I can.

I am trying to setp up a form that does an automatic execution between mine and
another's site. I have a list of tasks that need to be done. They are all the same
tasks, but each have different variables from the
database, like codes and amounts, etc.

When I click on "Perform Now" on one of the tasks, it works perfectly., but then when
I clcik on the next task, it stated that I already did that task. It appears that it
is using the same info from the last task, instead of
updating the form with the new task's info. Even when I hit refresh it says the same
thing. The only way I can go on to the next task is by opening an entirely new
window. This defeats the purpose of time saving,
because if I open a new window, I have to type in my login and password information to
even get into the admin section. Then have to click on the link to get tot the page.
Then I would have to do it all over again for
the over two hundred tasks I have.

I hope you can understand what I am trying to do. Is there a code that resets the
variables to nill, so that it can grab the new info?

Hopefully, you won't need the code that I've used in order to answer my problem, but
if you do, I will privately email it to you.

Thank you in advance for your help for my situation.

Anthony

Mascon - it's great for MySQL, but doesn't support any other databases. If
you want for other DB's as well, use something like Embarcadero ER/Studio at

Try this if you are using Windows.

http://www.anse.de/mysqlfront/

This is a Windows GUI for MySQL. It is very well done but it still has some
issues. I don't think you will have a problem if all you'll be doing is
creating tables , databases etc.

You can also try installing phpMyAdmin on the server side and working on a
web browser. phpMyAdmin is also a very nice tool.

There are a lot more interfaces to mysql, but I haven't had a pleasent
experience with the others.

I see a couple of approaches to this...

1. Run the .exe as a server-side CGI, returning an
image or movie of the molecule. (Simple and widely
compatible, but not interactive.)

2. Associate the file extension with your specialized
viewer program on the client side. You send the
data and it fires up the viewer prog automatically.
(Reasonably simple but not very cross-compatible
unless you feel like writing viewers for each different
platform. Also could introduce security holes.)

3. Render to some generic format like VRML,
which is already supported by the browser.
(Reasonably simple and very compatible, if it
does everything you want.)

4. Write a Java applet to do the rendering.
(A bit more complicated, slower, but very
cross-compatible and flexible. The Java SDK
includes a sample molecule-viewer applet.)

... other suggestions? Personally, I think standards
are a wonderful thing, so I would write a PHP
library to convert from your raw format to VRML.
(Alternately, you could store the VRML model
in your database and just dump it directly.)

That will stop fread from producing errors. So, if you don't want to see
any error's from fread, put a & in front of it. This can also be done
with other functions:

You're thinking of the @ error-control operator.
'=&' is 'get a reference to the returned array'.

Hi Nikola,

You need to add your PHP code to your HTML. I'm sure Dreamweaver allows you
to edit the HTML directly, but I don't know how I'm afraid. To check
everything's up and running, open Notepad (should be under
Start>Programs>Accessories) and paste this in:

---start---

  Test PHP page

  Hello world!";
  ?>

end

If this works, then congratulations - you've just used echo()

If not, give us a shout and someone will help you out :-)

Cheers
