Well, its your plugin so your call. I can see how it would work better this way on a hardware player, I have an SB Radio but must admit I never use its UI - too small. But on a software controller it just feels odd. Could the 'More' menu method not be used for certain UIs? e.g. software control points (e.g. Material, iPeng, SqueezeCtrl) could pass "softwarecp:1" (or some such string) as part of the JSONRPC request - when you receive this then make episode playable, and add items to "More" ??? *Material debug:* 1. sorry for all the posts.the transcoding/file types seems to be a red herring (sorry) - that second m4a (aac), regardless of AAC being set to native or disabled, definitely pauses at 5:25 on the Squeezelite-X player, but does not pause on my piCorePlayer Squeezelite. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] ANNOUNCE: AirPlay Bridge = integrate AirPlay devices with LMS (squeeze2raop)
For the past few days we've been listening to a Random Songs mix, through a couple of AirPlay devices (an Apple HomePod and a Denon X6300H AVR), plus a Squeezebox Touch. Most of our music is encoded as FLAC or fixed-bitrate MP3 files, but there are also a few M4A files and VBR MP3 files. Through AirPlay, most M4A files are playing at half speed, while simultaneously playing at normal speed through the Squeezebox Touch. Some of the VBR MP3 files are playing at double speed through Airplay, again at normal speed through the Squeezebox Touch. Converting the M4A files to fixed-bitrate MP3s seems to make the problem disappear. Happy to provide any info required to help fix this. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Squeezelite-x silence in playback from mid-track onwards
the transcoding is a red herring - thanks to bpa for the link to the previous thread on this - for me upping the buffer size in the squeezelite parameters in sqlx fixed it for my 6 minute songs. I added the option "-b 16384" to increase it. If you had a super long track, I don't know how it would behave. (btw running squeezelite 1.9.8-1344 (x64) inside of sqlx, which I think is later than his experimental versions). As it doesn't quite fit in with the normal playable items are handled in LMS. But quite frankly, the way the BBC content works and how they present it, quite often you want to get to the those options easily. And it all flows quite nicely on the hardware interfaces (radio, boom, touch etc), where it would be much more fiddly to get to a "more" menu. So, I never took the plunge to change it, as you always want at least easy access to "all episodes" from the hierarchical menu, so, if you have to have the menu, you may as well put all the options in there! Plus, I think everybody has just got too used to it now for it to change. Unless I am way off the mark, I think for long form audio, you want ease of browsing to choose what to listen to, over ease of selecting a list of items to play, if you know what I mean. Although I'm happy for it to be a discussion. I looked into using this today, and found the method of playing an item odd. Rather than the show/episode being playable you navigate into a list with "Play, All Episodes, Bookmark, Subscribe, Tracklist, Synopsis". It picks up where it left off though. On my LMS, I have AAC streamed directly to the player, or so I think from the file types menu (Native). 33533 With this setting I see a pause at 5 min. If I changed that "native" to "disabled" I assume LMS does some transcoding and I *do not* see the pause at 5 min. Most of my library is flac so I was lucky to catch it with this m4a. I will try a few more m4a (AAC) files to confirm. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce : BBC Sounds Plugin
Release 2.14.0 includes : FEATURES - The ability to bookmark a live programme for later listening. - New Buttons on the "Now Playing" screens to Bookmark or Subscribe to the currently playing programme (on live or audio-on-demand programmes) The plugin now takes over the "repeat" and "shuffle" buttons on the now playing screens of controllers and replaces them with a "Bookmark" and "Subscribe" button when a BBC Sounds item is playing (only bookmark is available on live programmes). You can turn the feature off in settings. I'm finding the bookmarking of live programmes particularly useful. The plugin is limited to only using icons present in the squeezeplay type skins, so it uses a "thumbsup" for bookmark and "heart" for subscribe (sorry this is not consistent with the BBC icons, but it is unavoidable) 33529 I've tested on the following controllers (it should work on all controllers that support "jive style" browsing) : - The default skin - All Squeezeplay type controllers (squeezebox touch, squeezeplay etc) - Material Skin (although it seems to be missing the "heart" icon, it probably needs a minor fix) - Orange Squeeze I don't believe that Squeeze Control supports it. I can't test it on Ipeng. It is available in the Beta repository now, and will be available from the main repository at the next refresh in the next couple of hours. +---+ |Filename: Screenshot 2021-02-23 at 16.01.48.png| |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=33529| +---+ EXPECTINGTOFLY PLUGINS : - *BBC Sounds* : https://github.com/expectingtofly/LMS_BBC_Sounds_Plugin - *BBC Sounds Wiki* : https://github.com/expectingtofly/LMS_BBC_Sounds_Plugin/wiki - *Virgin Radio (UK)* : https://github.com/expectingtofly/LMS_Virgin_Radio_Plugin - *Times Radio* : https://github.com/expectingtofly/LMS_TIMES_RADIO_PLUGIN expectingtofly's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=63263 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113045 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I find that, if the Radio does not have a currently configured network, an attempt to "Repair Network" (under "Network Health") will yield the symptoms you describe (never ending spinny). Although, in my case, a good longish press of the power button did cause the Radio to restart. In these circumstances, a look at "Check Network" first would have shown "No network interface". Unfortunately "Repair Network" fails to check that fact before doing its thing, and sends the Radio off into la-la land. That does not tell us why your Radio found itself without a currently configured network. In my case it was the result of a failure to establish a wi-fi connection with a test access point I have been running. I would guess that it is related in some way to the wi-fi connectivity issues you are having. This bug is present in both the stock firmware and the Community release firmware. mrw's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=38299 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113479 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
