Nice improvements! I had disabled Spotty Ogg Vorbis because of the
volume change from re-converting to PCM/FLAC. I've updated to this
4.5.0 and seeking is working very well. Thanks for this awesome Spotty
plugin, Michael!

What exactly was improved with Spotify Ogg Direct streaming? Seeking
improvements, or something else?

Also, is what you're calling Ogg Direct here, simply when File Types is
set to both "Prefer native format" and Spotty->"Ogg Vorbis" file type is
set to "spotty-x86_64" (or something other than Disabled, depending on
server platform)??

How is this new support for Spotify Autoplay different from a player's
"Don't Stop The Music" set to "Spotify Recommendations (based on the
current playlist)", which has already been available for a while?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Spotty: playback of Ogg 320 kb/s

2021-04-18 Thread rootee

Can I have some clarification on the following situation:

I've got Spotify Premium, and streaming 320k Ogg Vorbis to Radio(s)
works great. However, when I try and seek into a track the stream is
then converted to 705k FLAC. Is seeking Spotty Ogg Vorbis not possible?
Also, I do notice a volume change from when a track starts in Ogg
Vorbis, then changes over to FLAC after seeking, so it sounds like
ReplayGain is being applied/de-applied in FLAC (I don't know which one,
likely applied because the volume goes down typically, and I'm listening
to newer 2021 albums, which seem to all have very loud gain settings).

File Type settings:
-- "Prefer native format (decoding on the player) whenever possible" is
enabled/checked

If by cache you mean the Safari "Clear History and Website Data", then
yes, I tried that. Still can't paste into text boxes, and alarm edit

I'm not an LMS developer (yet), but for this issue with NPR Radio
plugin, is this simply a matter of updating
https://github.com/LMS-Community/lms-plugin-repository/blob/master/extensions.xml,
with maxTarget set to something correct? Like maxTarget="7.9", or
whatever that may correctly be?

Thanks again, for the info.

Ok, so you're saying that there can still remain rogue, incompatible
plugins (E.g. NPR Radio) users can install, even if "Use unsupported
extensions" is _un_checked, unless developers fix their repo XML's?

It's not clear to me what you're referring to here...

The only install.xml files I see are in for each installed plugin, E.g.
"./cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/Qobuz/install.xml". I don't see any
repo.xml files, which don't live in the main "/var/lib/squeezeboxserver"
(?).

Can you be a little more specific about files/paths? And, what, if
anything, I should manually do to prevent incompatible plugins from
showing up as installable?

I'd never installed the NPR Radio plugin until today, so it doesn't seem
that it carried over from a previous LMS version .

Also, enabling the "Update plugins automatically" option has
auto-magically removed the traces from both
"../prefs/plugin/extension.prefs" and
"../cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins".

Seems like LMS should remove incompatible plugins from the 3rd party
listing entirely, or list them and disallow install.

Thank again.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] How to Remove Incompatible Plugins

2021-02-18 Thread rootee

I've tried installing the NPR Radio plugin, and get "Plugin is
incompatible with this version of Logitech Media Server. Please update."
In "Server Settings"->Plugins I see no option to update, nor a way to
remove from the active plugins section (see attached). The only way
I've found to remove the unchecked/non-updateable NPR Radio from active
plugins is to enable "Update plugins automatically". Should I just
avoid NPR Radio plugin? Is this a bug with the LMS plugin manager?

It'd be very useful to have the same Qobuz track info and links

in the queue/playlist. I also don't see a way to add

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Material freezes when seeking ALAC on iOS

2021-02-12 Thread rootee

I'm having a strange track seek issue with LMS 8.2.0, Material 2.2.3, on
iOS 12.5.1 (iPhone 6). Using Material via "Add to Home Screen", if I
play local Apple Lossless ALAC (ripped from CD via iTunes), then seeking
forward/backward will freeze playing, and occasional the frozen track
will either restart from the beginning, or the next track in the queue
is played. It can stay frozen for some seconds before anything happens.
Not having this issue on Firefox/desktop (Windows 10 Pro, Firefox
85.0.2); iPeng and LMS web UI works fine as well.

That’s interesting, because the tech info for the playing track, that
shows the bitrate/sample-rate, has never shown 96khz for Qobuz streams.
It’s seems to always show 44.1khz for me (I only have SB Radio’s).

Even on my SB Radio's, I can definitely tell the difference between
compressed 256kbps tracks, and whichever lossless Qobuz is playing --
either 44kHz/16-bit, or 44kHz/24-bit. My original question is in
regards to what Qobuz is actually playing, because the track info for
the playing track shows two formats.

Also, I don't believe this thread is about what I *should* be (or not
be) paying for ;).

Sure, I can try, and will let you know if it's over my head. I'm
running Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS, on a headless Intel NUC7i5BNK.

New server log uploaded.

I'm also observing that the track info only shows a single output format
on a (queue) track that is not playing. If the track is currently
playing, the track info shows the two distinct formats (as above).

Ok, uploaded server log to your DropBox (I hope I did it correctly :)

The LMS web UI, and iPeng report the same two audio formats, as
Material.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Actual Qobuz Audio Format

2021-02-10 Thread rootee

I have a Qobuz Studio Premier membership, which has access to their
highest Hi-Res audio formats. I've got LMS 8.2.0, and Qobuz plugin
2.4.6, with the "Preferred format" plugin setting set to "FLAC Hi-Res
24-bits / >96 kHz".

When playing a "Hi-Res" capable track, I can't really tell which format
is playing; The format given in the player window (when the Material
"Display technical info" is selected) seems to indicate that it's likely
only 44.1kHz/16-bit, given that the CBR rates are typically <= 800 kpbs.
Additionally, the "More info" for the playing track shows something
like the below, which indicates more than one output format
(44.1kHz/16-bit, 44.1kHz/24-bit in this case) ???

33325

33323

So, my questions are... what is the actual format that Qobuz is playing?
And, if it's actually playing only 44.1kHz/16-bit, can the SB Radio not
play the higher resolution 24-bit version?

Thanks for any help!
