Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] ANNOUNCE: Alexicz (free) now controls Squeezeboxes via Domoticz

2019-12-23 Thread philchillbill

This is just access to LMS via the smart home paradigm, so only
transport and volume commands. As such, there’s no explanation needed -
it’s all built-in Alexa commands. All I did was add the discovery code
for it to Alexicz. In the Alexa app, your LMS devices show up in your
smart home device list.

If you want to use both skills, Alexicz works in English and then
MediaServer would be available too. With MediaServer you have stream to
Echo and a *lot* more commands.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Music & Artist Information plugin

2019-12-23 Thread Michael Herger

Can we have a mechanism to prevent checking remote sites for a
particular album review (or for a particular set)?

It certainly could be done. But I don't want to add yet another option
to the already rather busy settings page. In particular an option which
would require quite a bit of knowledge to even use (regex).

I guess I could do it by putting in a blank review file in each album
folder but better would be to be able to (perhaps by a set of regex)
exclude certain albums.

I'd much prefer this "solution" :-D.

I suggest this only because I have a number of albums that I know will
never be reviewed because they are my own radio show recordings.

Do they change often? Putting an empty file in those places should be
perfectly feasible, right?

It probably does no harm for the lookup to fail - but being able to
avoid them completely might be kinder to the remote sites that host the
genuine reviews.

Review lookup isn't a high volume task.

Imagine I have a set of recordings of a radio show called "Interesting
Radio Programme" and I store them like albums - with the album title of
Interesting Radio Programme - 1973/12/25

Do you also store an artist? If not, no review would be looked up anyway.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: WaveInput for Linux

2019-12-23 Thread adamslim

I just got this working nicely on my Raspberry Pi 4. It means I can cast
to a Chromecast Audio, which is plugged into the Pi server, and it can
appear by magic on any Squeezebox. Cool!

To help others that may be as clueless as I was about this kind of
thing:

1 - get a compatible USB sound card. Mine cost a few quid (under
three!), uses the bcm2835 chipset as it's fully plug and play.

2 - check in Alsa what everything is called. Useful commands:
arecord -l (that's a small L) lists capture devices. Mine was card 1,
device 0
arecord -D plughw:1 --duration=10 -f cd -vv ~/rectest.wav (run from your
home directory) records 10s of audio, usefully showing a recording level
meter even when you're in the terminal remotely. The plughw:1 needs to
match the card number from arecord

3 - while faffing I added the SB user to the audio group. I don't know
if this is necessary or not. sudo usermod -a -G audio squeezeboxserver

4 - the favourite that you need to set up is simply wavin:plughw:1,
where again it matches that card number.

Took me under an hour to install SBS on a Pi 4 and get this working,
which I'm quite pleased about. I never got the WaveInput working on
Windows, although I'd decided to move back to the Pi as Windows 10 is
just awful for servers.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Google Music plugin

2019-12-23 Thread rcalinjageman

Just wanted to post a detailed guide to what I was able to do to
successfully get the google play music plugin working again (for now) on
raspberry pi using max2play (https://www.max2play.com).

In my setup, the plugin was already installed via the max2play interface
and with all libraries and working through the max2play interface.

As others have pointed out, there is an updated version of the Google
Play Music plugin by hubbouma
(https://github.com/huubbouma/squeezebox-googlemusic). It uses an
updated login method. I also includes a python-based proxy server that
somehow solves issues with tracks stopping/ending.

* Following the directions for the plugin, I updated the GoogleMusicApi
library
First I checked the version installed:
`sudo pip show gmusicapi`
Then I updated to 12.1.0 specifically
`sudo pip2 install gmusicapi==12.1.0`

(Note I had all other libraries and dependencies already installed
thanks to the max2play installer script...so this was the only update I
performed)

* I cloned the updated plugin into /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/Plugins/:
`cd /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/Plugins/
sudo git clone
https://github.com/huubbouma/squeezebox-googlemusic`

(I think the better way would be to add this as a 3-rd party plugin, but
in the max2play setup the google-play-music plugin is already installed
and adding a new repo did not seem to work... so I just cloned it
directly and used the github clone to replace the previous plugin)

* I then swapped out the new plugin directory with the old one and made
it a public directory (just in case):
`sudo mv GoogleMusic GoogleMusic-old
sudo mv squeezebox-googlemusic GoogleMusic
sudo chmod 777 GoogleMusic`

* Then I re-started squeezebox server, made sure the plugin was enabled,
and went through the settings to authorize login with OpenAuth. At this
point, I could reload my library, but songs wouldn't start.

* The next step was to enable to python-based proxy server. You can do
this temporarily with:
`sudo python
/var/lib/squeezeboxserver/Plugins/GoogleMusic/proxy/proxy.py`

And viola - I could use the plugin again. However, when I closed the
terminal the python-based proxy server stopped and tracks again wouldn't
load.

* So the last step I did was to setup the python-based proxy server as a
service. I followed this tutorial
https://tecadmin.net/setup-autorun-python-script-using-systemd/.
** First, I made a file called myproxy.system in /lib/systemd/system

`sudo pico /lib/systemd/system/myproxy.service`

With these contents:
`[Unit]
Description=Dummy Service
After=multi-user.target
Conflicts=getty@tty1.service

[Service]
Type=simple
ExecStart=/usr/bin/python
/var/lib/squeezeboxserver/Plugins/GoogleMusic/proxy/proxy.py
StandardInput=tty-force

[Install]
WantedBy=multi-user.target`

** And then I reloaded systemd, enabled the new service, and started
it:
`sudo systemctl daemon-reload
sudo systemctl enable myproxy.service
sudo systemctl start myproxy.service`

and checked the status with:
`sudo systemctl status myproxy.service`

The first time I did this the service was in a failed state. It turned
out I had accidentally left an instance of the proxy server running from
the command line so the service-based version couldn't attach to the
same port and failed. I killed the previous python thread and the
service was able to start properly.

This seems to have done the trick. Don't know yet it it will be
super-stable, but fingers crossed. Haven't tested this yet with having
multiple players within the house playing different GPM tracks.

Thanks Ronnie,

I've restarted LMS again. Unfortunately it is not there, as shown on the

on different browsers, on different machines.

Curious.

(Clicking on My Apps first of all gives me a "This can't be shown in a

Gallery, not much help.)

Luckily Spotty does appear using Squeeze Control for Windows and I can
interface with it using that:

Sounds like something has killed ngrok by the time you get to checking
the assigned tunnel. If you type -pas aux | grep ngrok-, do you see just
one or two entries in the result? If one, ngrok is already dead. If two,
it's alive and the command should work. What platform are you on? Are
your trying all the commands in succession in the same terminal?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Radio Paradise Lossless Streaming (Plugin v2)

2019-12-23 Thread chiplueck

Thanks to everyone who coded and tested the recent release. The
interactive streams have been playing flawlessly!

One thing that would be really cool is either if the song info included
the URL to the song entry on RP (e.g.,
radioparadise.com/player/info/32097 or at least the song ID somewhere so
you could just plugin the right number to the base URL for song info.
Being so far ahead or behind what's playing in the non-interactive
stream makes it hard to see the entry on the web page if you want to
comment, star, etc.(Currently I use the
api.radioparadise.com/api/get_block?bitrate=4&chan=0&info=true to get
the song id, which is still faster than going on the website and doing a
search for the song).

That'd be icing on the cake to an already-awesome plugin. Thanks again
for all the work!

(Sorry the URLs aren't full -- since I'm a n00b on this site, I can't
post real URLs).

Ah sorry, typo. Should be ps indeed and not pas. Well something is
causing ngrok to die immediately if you only see one output (that’s the
command itself causing that).

If you just type ngrok http 9000 with nothing else on the command line,
what do you see?

Good progress. The username and password can be anything you like. Just
specify something with the -auth switch for ngrok and use the same for
the skill linking. For a quick test you can even try without uname and
pwd just to prove your for the rest ok but then quickly redo with auth
setup.

I just did another install/test with that installer and it is working
for me. Try this - In settings, enable clear cache and restart. If
that does not work, try using ip address of server instead of name.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: New versions of erlands plugins

2019-12-23 Thread Mrpink200

Hello to all.

I m coming here as i do not find how to solve a big issue for me with
custom browse (installed on Synology DSM 6 / LMS 7.9.2 but even on a
docker ok 7.9.2).
I can add custom menu as far as i change nothing to the ones already in
custom browse library. If i change anything and save it, the saved
action works but custom browse does not see the new template.
I have put all template / configurations, icons etc folder in the same
DSM folder inthe custom browse settings ... the fresh created menu is
not showing in my available menus.
Anyone face that ? i tried with the standard syno package, a docker one,
and the pikdot updated version its the same pb for me everytime
i must be wrong somewhere but i have no idea where

Since last week, once RP plugin v2.6.0 was released, I think I have
streamed upwards of a thousand songs using RP FLAC Interactive, without
an issue. Very nice indeed.

Kudos Philippe!

I do have a question though: I had been testing with "Info" set for
logging messages from the RP plugin, and when it came time to get more
metadata, I would see a run of entries like this in the log:

I am not sure what is going on here, and there does not appear to be a
problem with continuation of the playing, but I wonder if this should
actually be happening?

This is strange. The scheduled metadata update is always programmed a

What would be interesting is to see how often the "recovery" mechanism
has to be used (you get that with "warn" as logging level)
