I found a way to do this programmatically. The two functions above do
not work, so to fix it I have to do in this way:

# The composer window (you have to find the right composerView object

# Select the first element in command history (with text empty)
index = undoView.model().index (0, 0)
undoView.setCurrentIndex ( index )

# Select the second (but this may vary) element (the map object)
index = undoView.model().index (1, 0)
undoView.setCurrentIndex ( index )

[Qgis-developer] Python: viewing properties for an ComposerItem programmatically?

2014-09-24 Thread Luca Manganelli
Hi, (i'm using qgis 2.4)

how can view the object properties of a composer item I added with my plugin?
I tried with showItemOptions(...) but it doesn't work

in this example, I add a composerMap, but I cannot find a way on how
to automatically view the properties in the Composer Window:

# open the composer that I created
composition = composerView.composition()
composer = composerView.composerWindow()
composer.show()

# now I create and add the map
composerMap = QgsComposerMap(composition, 0, 0, float(paperwidth),
float(paperheight))
composition.addComposerMap(composerMap)

# add the command to history
composition.pushAddRemoveCommand( composerMap, New map added )

composerMap.setSelected(True)
composerView.setComposition(composition)
composition.update()

# these commands doesn't show the item properties

[Qgis-developer] QGIS Server and filtered layers

2014-09-19 Thread Luca Manganelli
Hi,

with QGIS Server is possible to show some layers or attributes for a
group of users, that are hidden for everyone else?

I.e.:

apache authenticated user: TESTSHOW can view the layer TESTLAYER in a project

apache unautenticated user: the TESTLAYER is hidden in the same proejct.

So this could be for some fields of a layer, due to privacy.

Is this possible?

[Qgis-developer] Processing causes major slowness at QGIS startup

2014-08-26 Thread Luca Manganelli
Hi,

in our organization with over 1,000 windows machines, we install QGIS
on a windows samba share so it can be launched via a desktop shortcut.

We discovered that the processing python plugin is the slowest plugin
to load. The QGIS base install contains 5 python plugins (fTools,
metaSearch, gdalTools, db_manager and processing) and we calculated on
a windows 7 pc these times:

QGIS with processing plugin
time from loading python plugins to GUI screen - 31 seconds (to
load all 5 plugins)

QGIS without processing plugin
time from loading python plugins to GUI screen - 15 seconds (over 50% gain)

Investigating the processing plugin, it seems that it loads all the
configs in the init() code, not in the initGUI() as should be
correctly.

Note that this slowness will be visible for everyone that has this
plugin DISABLED in the plugin list, because the initialization code is
in init(), so this slowness is involving all.

Yes, they should move the big code from init() to initGUI().

They should remember that the code in init() is ALWAYS executed, even

[Qgis-developer] Compiling QGIS 2.4 with GCC 4.4 (debian squeeze)?

2014-06-19 Thread Luca Manganelli
Hi,

I'm trying to compile QGIS git (after having success with 2.2) on

The compilations stops with an make error (see below for error trace).

In summary, GCC 4.4 doesn't like this line from
qgsvectorlayerfeatureiterator.cpp (line 87):

QgsVectorLayerFeatureIterator::QgsVectorLayerFeatureIterator(
QgsVectorLayerFeatureSource* source, bool ownSource,
 const QgsFeatureRequest request )
: QgsAbstractFeatureIteratorFromSource( source, ownSource, request )
, mEditGeometrySimplifier( 0 )

in the corresponding header .h file we have:

QgsVectorLayerFeatureIterator( QgsVectorLayerFeatureSource*
source, bool ownSource, const QgsFeatureRequest request ) :
QgsAbstractFeatureIteratorFromSource( source, ownSource, request )
, mEditGeometrySimplifier( 0 );

it seems that the left part ( from : QgsAbstractFeatureFromSource to
end) is missing, but adding it returns a preprocessing gcc error.

It's possible to fix this?

Hi,

on 32 bit Windows XP systems, loading WMS layers in QGIS 2.2 are
considerately slower than in QGIS 2.0.

On my tests, QGIS 2.2 takes more than a minute, while QGIS 2.0 loads the
WMS in 1-2 seconds.

To test, you can use our WMS server:

http://webapps.comune.trento.it/ogc

Another test: on a Windows 7 64 bit, QGIS 2.2 64 bit loads the WMS layer in
1-2 seconds, while the 32 bit version over than a minute...

I suspect that Qgis 2.2 - 32 bit should be recompiled (or Qt libraries
should be updated? The are still at 1.7.1)

[Qgis-developer] QgsMapCanvas.freeze and QgsInterface.AddRasterLayer

2014-01-18 Thread Luca Manganelli
Hi,

I noticed that if I do:

 1. QgsMapCanvas.freeze ( True )  - to stop drawing the mapcanvas
 2. call QgsInterface.AddRasterLayer() two times to add two distinct WMS
layers
 3. QgsMapCanvas.freeze ( False )  - to enable drawing the mapcanvas
 4. QgsMapCanvas.refresh - to redraw the map

I noticed that AddRasterLayer completely ignores the freeze state of
QgsMapCanvas forcing it to draw the map on each call of AddRasterLayer.

Is there any way to avoid it?

[Qgis-developer] Customizing Qgis Web Client Toolbar

2013-10-23 Thread Luca Manganelli
Hi,

I've made a pull request to Qgis Web Client code:

 https://github.com/qgis/QGIS-Web-Client/pull/54

With this pull we can customize QWC toolbar by adding custom buttons. There
is an example with a test button to get map coordinates.

It will be easier to get updates from QWC repository, since we leave
Webgisinit.js and GUI.js untouched.

[Qgis-developer] QgsHtmlAnnotation: cannot set html source directly?

the setHTMLPage method wants a file name of an HTML as argument.

So I must create a file to pass to the QgsHtmlAnnotation, but it would be
nice to have setHTMLSourceCode ( ... ) to pass a html string directly.

 QgsRasterLayer constructor has changed, now it accept four arguments, the
 first is the uri string.

 To construct the uri string you must know what layers you want.

 You could try this:

 desired_layer = 'abcdefg'
 uri = 'crs=EPSG:25832featureCount=10format=image/pnglayers=' +
 desired_layer + 'styles=url=http://testsrv/mapaccel?map=ciao.map'
 rlayer = self.iface.addRasterLayer(uri, 'test', 'wms')

 Hope this helps!

Programmers waste enormous amounts of time thinking about, or worrying
about, the speed of noncritical parts of their programs, and these attempts
at efficiency actually have a strong negative impact when debugging and
maintenance are considered. We should forget about small efficiencies, say
about 97% of the time: premature optimization is the root of all evil. Yet
we should not pass up our opportunities in that critical 3%.

It is not a bad idea. I'm pretty sure that if QGIS 2.0 will be out soon,
