To the best of my knowledge, you can create one for Squirrelmail, but that
will not propagate to the clients. There will be some work in the future
to incorporate LDAP into Qmailtoaster that may open some avenues to
accomplish this, so you may need to look at outside 3rd party
tools/projects to achieve this for the time being.

Subject: [qmailtoaster] Replicated Server Question

As some of you know I am working on bringing up a replicated
server. I am curious if it would be a good idea and/or advisable to
copy the spamassassin database from my older server that has been in
service for a while to the new one so that the new server doesn't
have to 'catch up' with the old one. Catch up meaning that new
server won't have the learning curve that it normally would.

Also, I would like to replicate (sync) some of the other files -
like the spamassassin .cf files, the spamdyke files (/opt/spamdyke/
etc) - things like that.

Suggestions?

Thanks,
Scott

You know? Not that I look a bit closer, this error is from a
no-brainer sort of command (chown). I wonder if fuse-unionfs
isn't having a problem with COS5.5.

Strangeness. When I do the commands manually (in a chroot
environment, same as qtp-build-rpms does) I get no error.
However, when I run the /bin/sh -e /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.80211
command, same as rpmbuild does, it ends prematurely in the same
spot (chown command) with return code 1.

Very peculiar. I'm going to try with a linked sandbox, which I
expect will succeed.

Linked sandbox works. So the problem is with fuse-unionfs and
CentOS 5.5. This is a fairly low priority, but I'll continue to
test to pinpoint the problem, and persue a fix.

Hey Steve,

I have a COS5.4 QMT with an updated kernel that I got this
failure with as well. I did

# yum remove fuse dkms
which removed these packages with their dependencies, then reran
qtp-newmodel, which reinstalled them, and it appears that
qtp-newmodel has gotten past the problem part.

I'll try this a little later on my test QMT 5.5 that was failing.
Thought you might want to give it a try and see what you get.

Well, reinstalling fuse, dkms didn't fix the problem for me on COS
5.5.

I'm pretty confident that's where the problem lies though.
I wonder if rebuilding them on a COS5.5 host will make it work.
Doubtful.

Need to ponder this some more...

I have similar issue on my VPS CentOS 5.4 64 bit:

Starting to build the binary rpms ...(pizza anyone?)

That's so similar, it's the same! ;)
I'm guessing that you're using the unionfs for sandbox?
What's your kernel version?

qtp-newmodel v0.3.15 starting Wed Jun 9 22:11:28 BST 2010

-

That's a pretty new kernel.
How'd you end up with that kernel on a COS 5.4 host?

Yeah, this is a VPS server (Xen virtualisation). I can chose and run
pretty much any kernel in a matter of seconds.

Have a look at http://www.linode.com/features.cfm - Configuration profile

-

Postmaster,

Your VPS might come in very handy here. :)

Have you changed the kernel after having run qtp-newmodel with the
unionfs sandbox on a previous kernel?

Do you have a way to go back to the kernel that was used when you last
ran qtp-newmodel successfully? (if you remember which kernel you were
running then?) If so, please do so, then run qtp-newmodel test.

Do you get the failure when you use the most recent COS5.5 stock kernel?
(2.6.18-194.3.1.el5)

Will you try:
.) using 2.6.18-194.3.1.el5 kernel
.) yum remove dkms fuse
.) test qtp-newmodel again
?

Thanks for the insight.

First off, I'd recommend upgrading qmailtoaster-plus, as there is a
newer qtp-newmodel available:

# yum update qmailtoaster-plus

Secondly, here are the pertinent errors:
chkuser.c:37:45: error: /home/vpopmail/include/vpopmail.h: No such file
or directory
chkuser.c:38:42: error: /home/vpopmail/include/vauth.h: No such file or
directory
chkuser.c:39:52: error: /home/vpopmail/include/vpopmail_config.h: No
such file or directory

These files are not used in normal operations, but are required for
building the qmail-toaster package (as you're experiencing). The easiest
way to restore them would be to use qtp-newmodel to rebuild/reinstall
the vpopmail-toaster package. The latest version of qtp-newmodel will
allow you to select a current package for rebuilding.

That should fix you up. :)

[qmailtoaster] QControl

2010-06-10 Thread Martin Waschbuesch
Hi Jake,

I just upgraded (and reinstalled) one toaster that is now running CentOS 5.5
x86_64. Everything runs just smooth and lovely, except one thing.
I (on purpose) removed all i386/i686 packages and libraries from CentOs and now
I find that QControl is not quite noarch after all:

# rpm -i QControl-1.1-1.1.1.noarch.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:
libc.so.6 is needed by QControl-1.1-1.1.1.noarch
libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.0) is needed by QControl-1.1-1.1.1.noarch
libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.1) is needed by QControl-1.1-1.1.1.noarch

# locate libc.so.6
/lib64/libc.so.6

I could, of course, reinstall the i386 lib, but just in case there could be a
different solution (e.g. a x86_64 compile) ...

Martin

Will you try:

Eric,

The build was successful by either way.
So I can conclude that it was 5.4 version (one of its libraries) at fault.

Well this is now solved. I just wish I know how/why. I re-ran the
firewall.sh script and saved it (iptables-save) and then ran the
sanesecurity update script manually. It worked. I'll watch the logs and
make sure the cron job also works. Go figure...

How do i get my qmail toaster to allow this email to be delivered.

basically the mail bounces back rejected by my mail server -- i never

basically how can i execute a file.sh that will send me an email... via

This gets more and more 'interesting'.
I tried building and using the fuse-unionfs-0.24 package. It got
past the chown command, but failed miserably later on and
eventually terminated with a segfault. I'm guessing that this next
version of fuse-unionfs will need the next version of a dependent
package as well.
So then I restored fuse-unionfs-0.23, and figured I'd try building
clamav-toaster-0.96.0-1.3.35 on CentOS 5.5. I was happy to see that
it worked.
So I tried clamav-toaster-0.96.1-1.3.36 again. Lo and behold (and
to my surprise) it worked. Dang, I didn't expect *that*.
So now I'm not quite sure what to think. I expect that a clean
COS5.5 install (with no kernel updates) will work with no problem.
Can someone test and verify this? I don't have any 5.5 install isos
handy.
It appears that all systems that have experienced this problem have
had their kernel updated at some point, although apparently not all
updated kernels have the problem, only very recent ones. I did have
one COS5.4 host w/ kernel 2.6.18-164.10.1.el5 that had the problem.
On that host, I uninstalled fuse and dkms (and dependencies), and
reran qtp-newmodel, which reinstalled the packages, and that
proceeded to work. That didn't work on my COS5.5 test host though.
At this point I'm guessing that something in the area of kernel
updates is causing a problem with fuse-unionfs. Most likely, there
is something that needs to be done in the fuse-unionfs (or related)
package in order to remedy the situation. Don't have any idea what
that would be yet.
I'll try upgrading my COS4.6 host and giving that a try. Not that
it'll tell much though, as that's a much older kernel (2.6.9 IIRC).
I think I'll also run this by the unionfs-fuse list and see if
someone there can shed some light on this.

I upgrade my COS4.6 to current, then tried qmail-toaster,
spamassassin-toaster and clamav-toaster all together, and clamav
aborted with the error. So I upgraded qmail-toaster and spamassassin-
toaster by themselves, no error. Then I did clamav-toaster by itself
to get a log with only clamav-toaster, and it ran ok. WTF. It's
starting to look like it's intermittent now. I hate it when that
happens. :(

You know? Not that I look a bit closer, this error is from
a no-brainer sort of command (chown). I wonder if
fuse-unionfs isn't having a problem with COS5.5.

Strangeness. When I do the commands manually (in a chroot
environment, same as qtp-build-rpms does) I get no error.
However, when I run the /bin/sh -e /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.80211
command, same as rpmbuild does, it ends prematurely in the
same spot (chown command) with return code 1.

Very peculiar. I'm going to try with a linked sandbox,
which I expect will succeed.

Linked sandbox works. So the problem is with fuse-unionfs
and CentOS 5.5. This is a fairly low priority, but I'll
continue to test to pinpoint the problem, and persue a fix.

Hey Steve,

I have a COS5.4 QMT with an updated kernel that I got this
failure with as well. I did

# yum remove fuse dkms
which removed these packages with their dependencies, then
reran qtp-newmodel, which reinstalled them, and it appears
that qtp-newmodel has gotten past the problem part.

I'll try this a little later on my test QMT 5.5 that was
failing. Thought you might want to give it a try and see what
you get.

Well, reinstalling fuse, dkms didn't fix the problem for me on
COS 5.5.

I'm pretty confident that's where the problem lies though.
I wonder if rebuilding them on a COS5.5 host will make it
work. Doubtful.

Need to ponder this some more...

I have similar issue on my VPS CentOS 5.4 64 bit:

That's so similar, it's the same! ;)
I'm guessing that you're using the unionfs for sandbox?
What's your kernel version?

That's a pretty new kernel.
How'd you end up with that kernel on a COS 5.4 host?

Yeah, this is a VPS server (Xen virtualisation). I can chose and
run pretty much any kernel in a matter of seconds.
Have a look at http://www.linode.com/features.cfm - Configuration
profile

Postmaster,

Your VPS might come in very handy here. :)

Have you changed the kernel after having run qtp-newmodel with the
unionfs sandbox on a previous kernel?

Do you have a way to go back to the kernel that was used when you
last ran qtp-newmodel successfully? (if you remember which kernel
you were running then?) If so, please do so, then run qtp-newmodel
test.

Do you get the failure when you use the most recent COS5.5 stock
kernel? (2.6.18-194.3.1.el5)

Will you try:

I (on purpose) removed all i386/i686 packages and libraries from CentOs and now
I find that QControl is not quite noarch after all:

# rpm -i QControl-1.1-1.1.1.noarch.rpm

# locate libc.so.6

I could, of course, reinstall the i386 lib, but just in case there could be a
different solution (e.g. a x86_64 compile) ...

Thanks for finding this. Seems I'll have to create two builds in the future.
There won't be a fix until I create the next version. If it's REALLY an
issue for you, I'll compile on a x86_64 for you and send you the executable.

This gets more and more 'interesting'.
I tried building and using the fuse-unionfs-0.24 package. It got past
the chown command, but failed miserably later on and eventually
terminated with a segfault. I'm guessing that this next version of
fuse-unionfs will need the next version of a dependent package as well.
So then I restored fuse-unionfs-0.23, and figured I'd try building
clamav-toaster-0.96.0-1.3.35 on CentOS 5.5. I was happy to see that
it worked.
So I tried clamav-toaster-0.96.1-1.3.36 again. Lo and behold (and to
my surprise) it worked. Dang, I didn't expect *that*.
So now I'm not quite sure what to think. I expect that a clean COS5.5
install (with no kernel updates) will work with no problem. Can
someone test and verify this? I don't have any 5.5 install isos handy.
Most likely, there is
something that needs to be done in the fuse-unionfs (or related)
package in order to remedy the situation.

So I upgraded qmail-toaster and
spamassassin-toaster by themselves, no error. Then I did
clamav-toaster by itself to get a log with only clamav-toaster, and it
ran ok. WTF. It's starting to look like it's intermittent now. I hate
it when that happens. :(

I tried the same thing on my secondary server and it still has the
issue. I've tried everything you have put out to the list so far and
every time it fails. Bummer.

I'm actually glad to hear this. If it can be recreated, it's easier to
fix. It's the intermittent bugs that drive me nuts.

BTW, the verdict is still out on CentOS4.6. I notice that my test host
isn't running the latest kernel. Maybe when I boot with the latest
kernel it will fail again? (Although it did fail once).

That'll do ok on a local LAN, but beware that the password will be sent

Using tls as well as authentication ensures that passwords aren't sent
in the clear, regardless of the authentication type used.
