Hi Jim and Eric,

I tried to apply the solution for the SA 2010 problem but it doesn't solve
the problem. Some mails still intercepted as high score spam without any
reason. I also try to white list one of theses e-mail address but it seem
to ignore totally local.cf. I temporarily raise the score level to 105 to
work around this problem for now...

About the double e-mail problem, I really don't know what's going on...
the machine is really comfortable on system resources. I've examination
every log file and there is no error.

I also update to latest toaster version last night, so clam and sa are
up2date...

About the forward, it solved the problem. I've noticed garbage in the
.qmail file. Delete and re-create did it.

[qmailtoaster] Succession of strange problem...

2010-01-27 Thread Kaven Gagnon
Hi, since a few days, I got some strange issues on a Qmail Toaster, which
was running without any flaw for two years.

It begin with false positive spam detection on legitimate e-mail. Most of
them highly score 60 to 105 with Spam Assassin. Strangely, I reboot the
server and it solve this problem.

After come the duplicate e-mail problem. Every new incoming e-mail are
doubled. Not all user are affected by this problem. The server is not on
high load and plenty of resources available. Same for disk space.

And then, a specific forward to mailbox that simply not working. User
received this error message:

:
/bin/sh: .w: command not found
I'm not going to try again; this message has been in the queue too long.
(sh symlink to bash is present on /bin...)

Any clue about this?

Thanks for your help!

[qmailtoaster] Queue stuck (external domain only)

2008-06-11 Thread Kaven Gagnon
Hi, since my QTM upgrade last week, my mail server queue is growing up
(currently +10K) and mails sent to remote domains stuck in the queue and
users received error message (after 1 - 2 days) "Connected to
but connection died. (#4.4.2)".

Message sent to local domains are delivered.

I tried to disable ClamAV and SpamAssassin, remove blacklists, repair the
queue, force queue processing, backup & delete completely the queue...
when starting with an empty queue, new message still stuck and are not
sended.

I also tried to route outgoing smtp traffic trough my second WAN link ISP
smtp server for sending message and still don't work. This is not a
provider issue, I tried to send an email with my dev server and it worked.

Any idea would be appreciated.

Thanks you.

RE: [qmailtoaster] Separate ClamAV/Spamassassin gateway.

2008-06-05 Thread Kaven Gagnon
Thanks for reply. Actually, my QTM setup is about 1 year old! Never get
any problem with... that's why I didn't upgrade (I had some bad previous
experience with upgrade a few years ago). I already try upgrading only
ClamAV in a situation like this in the past and it almost solved the
problem.

Anyway, if you have any idea to setup a separate Clam/SpamAss gateway just
for my personal knowledge it would be appreciated. I got a lot of mail
bombing and probably it will be necessary in the future.

Thanks again,
Kaven G.

I'm guessing that your clamav version isn't the most recent. If that's
correct, upgrade it and your problem will go away. That HW should handle a
boatload of mail.

[qmailtoaster] Separate ClamAV/Spamassassin gateway.

2008-06-05 Thread Kaven Gagnon
Hi, does anyone know how to get working a ClamAV/Spamassassin on a separate
server?

My server is heavy used (3.0 GHz 1M / 2 Gb / 4 x 73 Gb 10K RAID5) always
100% CPU, 1.89 Load Average and ~5% IOwait. Most of CPU usage is used by
ClamAV. SpamAssassin is taking too, but pretty much less than Clam. Queue
is growing up cause Clam is slowing down the whole e-mail processing!

Thanks for your help!

[qmailtoaster] vqAdmin and SMTP authentication problem.

click on them (6 of 51 of my domain have this problem).

Another problem, SMTP authentication is not working, Outlook said that
none of authentication method is supported by the server. Nothing found
in logs...

authentication. When trying to send an e-mail from home, Outlook return
this error: None of the authentication methods supported by this client

Package courrier-authlib is installed.

Any idea? Thanks.

RE: [qmailtoaster] Problem sending mail

2007-01-08 Thread Kaven Gagnon
Yes, I check log before posting, everything look like usually.

I got all dependency installed.

This problem appears suddenly this afternoon. This server was running
without incidents for about 7 months without any reboot.

MySQL is running.

I've noticed that message can be send, but I must close Outlook and open,
click Send/Receive button a couple of time and the message is sent after
some time (about 4 to 6 minutes).

I try to completely reboot the server without success.

Thanks.

What do your logfiles show?

Do a tail /var/log/qmail/imap4/current and see what the most recent IMAP
activity is. You can do the same with the others in /var/log/qmail/ to
see what the most recent things happening are.

Is MySQL running? If it isn't up, that will break things. Have you
tried rebooting the machine?

Try to comment out all the stuff in /var/qmail/control/badloadertypes
and /var/qmail/control/badmimetypes.
Also, check out /var/qmail/control/simcontrol contents for attachments
restrictions. After you're done with modifications to this files, do
# qmailctl cdb

You should be done. Try to send this .mp3 file again to see if it
works.
Also try to look into qmail-smtpd logs for a hint about the cause of
message rejection.

I believe /var/qmail/control/simcontrol is set to block incoming .mp3
attachment files by default. You'd have the remove the .mp3 and rebuild the
cdb with 'qmailctl cdb'

RE: [qmailtoaster] (URGENT) Upgrade failure/migrate on a new server.

2006-08-25 Thread Kaven Gagnon
Hi,
About my previous post, I find a solution for my new server. The
situation was that I copy all maildir, databases and config files onthe
new server and no mailbox can be shown on the Web Admin pannel and of
course, no user/domain was valid for login.

After a few hours of testing, I discover that
/var/qmail/control/virtualdomains and /var/qmail/users/assign file were
empty. After setup these files correctly and update cdb files, all
domains/users appear on Web admin panel and users can log on. (Maybe I
forgot to tell something, I didn't sleep since 37 hours ago to solve
this...)Let me know if you need more precisions about the
solution. About my update problem on my old server, if someone
wants root access tolookup for a solution to help others people of
just for personal knowledge, feel free to ask ;) I got so
much trouble with this problem; if it could help someone else in the
same mess I will be glad!

The only one problem I have now is that I can't receive mail from
outside. I can send mail to myself with Squirrelmail and can send mail
to myself from my second mail server. I tried using Hotmailwithout
success.

Sincerely, thank you for all you're support!

Well, if you still want to try one more thing on the "old" server, try
disabling SELinux. Wonder if it could be causing problems...

Could be a number of problems causing this. Probably what I'd do (not
knowing the internals of qmailadmin) is enable MySQL query logging and
determine what query it runs against your DB to get the list of domains.

Edit /etc/my.cnf, should look something like this when query logging is
enabled:

[mysqld]
log=/var/log/mysql/query.log

Then, mkdir -p /var/log/mysql and chown mysql.mysql /var/log/mysql and
restart MySQLd.

Try and view your qmail admin, then look at the /var/log/mysql/query.log
file. You should be able to determine a) what user qmailadmin uses to
connect ot the database with (ensure this user exists and can read the
correct tables), b) what database the user is connecting to (confirm it
exists and user has access to it) and c) what queries are being run.

I'd probably end up running those queries manually from a mysql command
shell to see if they return anything.

Post output of your query log here if you like...

Also make sure /var/lib/mysql/ that you copied over is owned by the
MySQL user. Check /var/lib/mysql/*.err to see if there were problems
opening this database when you started MySQL up...

If you connect to MySQL from the command line (as root user) can you do a
USE and SHOW TABLES?

Some things to try.

Ray

RE: [qmailtoaster] (URGENT) Upgrade failure/migrate on a new server.

2006-08-25 Thread Kaven Gagnon
Thanks for you're reply, but I already try this without success. I'm really
struck... I've check every file one by one for permissions, settings... the
whole kit!

At this point, I think to forget about this server and try to make it work
with the new one that I build last night. My only problem is that no domain
and user can be shown in the Web admin panel. I tried to create a test
domain with a test user... it work well; I can see it in the Web panel. I
double check for difference between this table (new test domain) and tables
of other domains... they are identical.

Anyone knows how to make my old db appear in Qmail administration site?

Thanks!

Regards,
Kaven G.

This has got to be a permissions problem...

ls -ltaFR on /var/qmail/queue

And ls -l /var/qmail/bin/qmail-queue

Hmm. Do any errors show in your httpd log as to why it's not reading the
db? Would probably show as a PHP error. Also, you do have all the files
in /home/vpopmail/etc right?
When you say you backed up mysql/lib, did you just copy the directory,
or did you export the DB and then import it on the new machine. Might
want to make sure the permissions on the DB are correct (vpopmail has
full rights).

Hopefully you still have the dev machine. Worst case is you can put the
dev machine up in place of the production machine, or at least do a
backup from the dev machine to the production so you don't have to
manually recreate your email accounts and what not.
The logs aren't showing anything? They should at least show (smtp log)
that the message is coming in. Does your messages log have anything
interesting in it?

Hi,
Yes, vpopmail/vchkpw are uid 89. About the disk space, the system
is very comfortable:

[EMAIL PROTECTED] vpopmail]# df -h
FilesystemSize Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/md1 3.9G 223M 3.5G 6% /
/dev/md0 190M 17M 164M 10% /boot

/dev/md5 3.5G 570M 2.8G 17% /var

Yes, this is a production machine unfortunately :( The worst of it is that
I do it successfully on my dev machine before proceed with the real server.
I really don't know what I've missed. (Maybe a bad package... I had a weird
problem since a few months with one package of the toaster and I download it
again and the problem was solved.)

Unfortunately, there is no suspect log message in log file. The only
message I had is the one (from Squirrelmail) I post on my previous mail.

For sure I will take a look at you're script. If I can't get the server
working in a few hours, I will try to re-install the old package before the
upgrade (on mailing list archive, some one do that and solve his problem).

Thanks for you're help.

You're in a real mess. There are a lot of variables that could have been
missed, so this might not be a quick fix.
You say that the permissions are all correct Is the vpopmail user
uid/gid 89:89?
The error your getting can be a few different things. I got it once when
my /var partition was full (couldn't write logs... ) It actually had a
couple megs free, but QMT still didn't like it until I cleared some space.
Did you perform the upgrade on the production machine? You may want to
look at my backup/restore script (http://v2gnu.com/qmail) and see if you
missed anything obvious.
Also, would it possible to see some of the logs that are generated while
it's giving the disk full message?

Hi,
After an upgrade failure*, I decide to do a fresh install on a new
server to get this working before the morning. All config files,
databases and maildir has been saved andrestored on the new server.
But no mail account can be shown on mailadministration or admin-

There are the files that I backup and replace:

/home/vpopmail/domains

Did I miss something?

Hi,
After an upgrade failure*, I decide to do a fresh install on a new

databases and maildir has been saved andrestored on the new server.
But no mail account can be shown on mailadministration or admin-

There are the files that I backup and replace:

/home/vpopmail/domains
/etc/tcprules.d
/var/qmail/control

Did I miss something?

[qmailtoaster] Upgrade libdomainkeys problem.

2006-08-08 Thread Kaven Gagnon
Hi, I tried to upgrade my QmailToaster to latest version and got an error
when upgrading libdomainkey" package. This is the error msg:

[EMAIL PROTECTED] i386]# rpm -Uvh
libdomainkeys-toaster-0.68- 1.3.1.i386.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:

(installed)
qmail-toaster-1.03-1.3.2.i386

The problem seems to be that the old package is named libdomainkeys and the
new one libdomainkeys-toaster. The upgrade is not "allowed" because
qmail-toaster needs the old package.

[EMAIL PROTECTED] qtms-install]# rpmbuild --rebuild
--with
cnt40 qmail-toaster-1.03-1.
Installing qmail-toaster-1.03-1.3.5.src.rpm
error: Failed build dependencies:

I tried to jump to qmail-toaster package install but need
libdomainkeys-toaster.

Thanks for you're help.

RE: [qmailtoaster] SpamAssassin and ClamAV dont work.

2006-08-02 Thread Kaven Gagnon
Yes. I think it's ok because if I try to do this on an non-root account, I
can see the outputted error:

[EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]$ qmailctl cdb
tcprules: fatal: unable to create /etc/tcprules.d/tcp.smtp.tmp: access
denied
chmod: changing permissions of `/etc/tcprules.d/tcp.smtp': Operation not
permitt
chmod: changing permissions of `/etc/tcprules.d/tcp.smtp.bak': Operation not
per
chmod: changing permissions of `/etc/tcprules.d/tcp.smtp.cdb': Operation not
per
Reloaded /etc/tcprules.d/tcp.smtp

So when I do "qmailctl cdb" it make more than just reload tcp.smtp file.

Thanks.

The "scanners:none" seems to be where your problem lies.
It should say "scanners: attach: 1.2.0 clamav: 0.88.3/m:39/d:1628 spam:
3.1.3" or some such.

So I think it's safe to say that simscan isn't invoking the other scanners.

Earlier you said:

That sure looks ok to me.

You said you regenerated the simcontrol.cdb file. What command did you use?
# qmailctl cdb
Reloaded /etc/tcprules.d/tcp.smtp
Reloaded /var/qmail/control/badmimetypes.cdb
Reloaded /var/qmail/control/badloadertypes.cdb
Reloaded /var/qmail/control/simversions.cdb
Reloaded /var/qmail/control/simcontrol.cdb

Did you get the last simcontrol message?

Kaven,

I notice that your toaster versions aren't the latest. Is
there a reason for this?

If you changed your simcontrol file, did you remember to
# qmailctl cdb
to regenerate the .cdb file(s)?

I have an intermittent problem with simscan/sa/clam too (I'll be posting
details in a while - may or may not be related to your problem).

Do your message headers show "Received: by simscan ..."?
If so, please post results.

If not, please post your /etc/tcprules.d/tcp.smtp file.

2006-08-02 Thread Kaven Gagnon
Hi, about my last post, yes, it is a fresh install. SpamAssassin & ClamAV
work well on my other mail server (running older version of QmailToaster).

I do my test from another mail server and from a Hotmail account.

Packages are correctly installed:

[EMAIL PROTECTED] control]# rpm -qa | grep toaster
daemontools-toaster-0.76-1.2.11
qmail-toaster-1.03-1.3.2
ezmlm-toaster-0.53.324-1.2.11
maildrop-toaster-1.8.1-1.2.11
squirrelmail-toaster-1.4.6-1.2.15
simscan-toaster-1.2-1.2.8
ucspi-tcp-toaster-0.88-1.2.11
qmail-pop3d-toaster-1.03-1.3.2
autorespond-toaster-2.0.4-1.2.9
send-emails-toaster-0.5-1.2.9
ezmlm-cgi-toaster-0.53.324-1.2.11
qmailmrtg-toaster-4.2-1.2.11
maildrop-toaster-devel-1.8.1-1.2.11
vqadmin-toaster-2.3.4-1.2.13
spamassassin-toaster-3.1.1-1.2.14
ripmime-toaster-1.4.0.6-1.0.1
vpopmail-toaster-5.4.13-1.2.12
courier-imap-toaster-3.0.8-1.2.10
control-panel-toaster-0.5-1.2.9
qmailadmin-toaster-1.2.9-1.2.13
isoqlog-toaster-2.1-1.2.10
clamav-toaster-0.88.2-1.2.15
[EMAIL PROTECTED] control]#

All process are up & running:

[EMAIL PROTECTED] control]# qmailctl stat
clamd: up (pid 13465) 2565390 seconds
imap4: up (pid 13477) 2565390 seconds
imap4-ssl: up (pid 13449) 2565390 seconds

clamd/log: up (pid 13467) 2565390 seconds

smtp/log: up (pid 13471) 2565390 seconds
spamd/log: up (pid 13475) 2565390 seconds
[EMAIL PROTECTED] control]#

This server run CentOS 4.3.

If I take a look at mail headers of a test from Hotmail account, no ClamAV
of SpamAssassin is invoked.

Everything seems to be correct in the "/var/qmail/control/simcontrol" file:
:clam=yes,spam=yes,spam_hits=5,attach=.exe:.src:.bat:.pif

Let me know if you need more informations.

can you provide a little more detail? fresh install? has it ever worked?
have you upgraded lately?

why do you think it is not working...send an email to yourself on a
domain hosted on the toaster? default setup: local deliveries are not
scanned

do this:
#qmailctl stat

does spamd and clamd show as up and logging?

then they are installed and working.

send an email from yahoo/hotmail/gmail to a domain account...does the
header of that message show scanning by clam and spam?

then it is working.

if you make changes to the scanning tools you need to manually update
simscan to let it be aware of installed tools

do this:
# qmailctl stop
# /var/qmail/bin/simscanmk -g
# qmailctl start

then check again by sending a mail from the outside
(yahoo/hotmail/gmail/..whatever)
in (your hosted domain).

help us help you by providing more detail, like:

distro your are using

the output of qmailctl stat

# yum list installed | grep toaster
or
# rpm -qa | grep toaster

[qmailtoaster] SpamAssassin and ClamAV dont work.

2006-08-01 Thread Kaven Gagnon

Hi,

I got a problem with SpamAssassin and Qmail.  Spam is only filtered by blocking list contained in “blacklists” txt file but not SpamAssassin.  If I try to test SpamAssassin in terminal by typing it work.  If I try by mail using the GTUBE test, it doesn’t work.  I also checked the spamd log file and I can’t see any message like this: simscan:[4654]:SPAM REJECT.  Same problem for ClamAV.  Any help is welcome! Thanks in advance. Regards,Kaven G.

RE: [qmailtoaster] Relay - 553 sorry, that domain isn't in my list of allowed rcpthosts

2006-06-09 Thread Kaven Gagnon
Hi,
Yes, my first issue was caused by corrupted package! I download
packages again and do a fresh install.

It's ok about my relay problem, i'm not using the Nick's firewall
but it was a syntax error in my iptables script! (Sorry, my mind is
slowing down after two days without sleeping! A lot of mail migration to
do!)

I got another question... about attachments; sometime it said "554
invalid message content (#5.3.2)". The attachment was a simple
Microsoft Word document, I try to send another document and everything goes
fine... any idea about this?

Thanks a lot for you're help.

Regards,
Kaven G.

It shouldn't be an open relay out of the box. It's set up to not be one.
Did you get the uid/gid problem fixed? I don't want to try and look at
another issue while the first is unresolved.
What IP do your clients come from? If you're using Nick's firewall, it
blocks users from private IPs.

RE: [qmailtoaster] A few questions...

2006-06-09 Thread Kaven Gagnon
Hi,

About My file permission problem (domain folder have another right
assignment than vpopmail:vchkpw)... I did a few tests again, and it seems
to be directly associated to new QmailToaster packages... I did a fresh
CentOS 4.3 install on a dev server and install new packages and get same
problem (domain folder are owned by nonexistent user/group!!! (503:502).
The problem persist even if I change permission to vpopmail:vchkpw. I do
the same install, but with old QmailToaster packages and it work well...
I'm out of idea! If someone has any idea about this problem, thanks for any
advice...

Might want to make sure this user even exists. I'm going to snip a part out

My old Sendmail server use /var/mail for Inbox and /home/"user" for

RE: [qmailtoaster] A few questions...

2006-06-06 Thread Kaven Gagnon
Hi,

About my first problem, I changed the owner of
'/home/vpopmail/domains/"domain.tld"' to vpopmail/vchkpw last night and I
got same error. I don’t know why new domain folder are created with another
user/group than vpopmail:vchkpw, but I got an idea that maybe will solve it.
This happen since my upgrade who was made after the user/group (salearn:503)
was created. So, if I deleted this user/group, and do an rpm -Uvh of all
QmailToaster packages, maybe this will work... I'm just guessing
something! What do you think about it?

P.S.: vpopmail:vchkpw exist on the system... and domain who was created
before upgrade are working well. I verify all other qmail file/folder
permissions and seem to be correct.

[qmailtoaster] A few questions...

2006-06-05 Thread Kaven Gagnon

Hi all!  I got a few
question...

First, I got a strange error
if I try to add a domain.  Create it goes fine, but if I try to log in with the
postmaster account to create new account (on qmailadmin), it said "invalid
login".  Same thing with another account created manually on the shell.  After
some test, I see that the folder /home/vpopmail/domains/"domain.tld"
doesn't have appropriated right assignment.  Normally it should be 'drwx--
vpopmail vchkpw' but it is

'drwx--  3 salearn
503'.  "salearn" user is a user that I created a few weeks ago to run
my salearn script and group "503" is the backup group... added a few
weeks ago too!  I delete this user/group and delete the domain in trouble and
create it again for testing...  but now folder permission is

'drwx--  502    503'
(uid of salearn user and backup group that I

deleted)!  I got invalid
login too even if I change them for vpopmail and vvhkpw.

The second thing is that the
folder list doesn't download completely on first usage, only the Inbox folder.
If user log into Squirrelmail, folder will be downloaded!

The third, do you know any
project for mass mailbox to maildir conversion?

My old Sendmail server use
/var/mail for Inbox and /home/"user" for directory that the user has
created to classify their mail... so it can be long by using Perfect Maildir
script in each folder on large mail system!

< I run latest version of
QmailToaster on a clean CentOS 4.2 install.

Theses problems seems to be
appeared since upgrade... >

Thanks in advance for any
help.

Best regards,

Kaven G.
