Re: [QUAD-L] SP Cath size
My Doctor did the same thing I have a 24fr almost 13 yrs now with 5cc balloon. He said the same thing it will help with less sediment and I also use silicone since allergic to latex ones. Like Quadius said maybe go to a bigger balloon. Since you don't want to a bigger catheter. Regina Sent from Yahoo Mail on Android On Tue, Nov 24, 2015 at 5:12 PM, Danny Hearn wrote: My Doc. Re: [QUAD-L] Re: [quad] list. Being a quad
I know we all became a quad in different ways. None of us asked for it, but I think we've all have made the most of it. I believe there is a God, who saved me from a life that was going downward fast. My accident was diving off a pier into a lake I had been drinking. I drowned, I coded 3 times when got to the hospital, had so many infections becuz of the water they kept tellin my mom I wasnt going to make it thru the nite they told her this every nite. After a month they finally operated on my neck but couldnt tell me how much movement I would have but I came thru n I'm a c6-7. To me this was a second chance to do something more and was able to raise my daughter again becuz she was 9 I was 28 I had to go to a nursing home after I got out of TIRR, but with the help from people from this list and God I went to a disabilty apartment and got my daughter back when she was 14. Shes now 22 and gave me 2 grandkids. I also have a wonderful man in my life and we have a house and 4 dogs, I'm closer to my family too. So even though Im in a chair and I have trials that we all go thru as quads. I thank God Im alive and I have this chance. Also my daughter told me that she doesnt know how I do it being a quad she said she didnt think she could I told her you never know what you can do until it happens to you and that means anything people go through. We all get frustrated, depressed and every other feeling, but We are all here for a reason and I for one am glad y'all are here for the great advice for the friendships for the knowledge and the questions. I thank God for all the people on this list and I pray each of us gets our dreams and wishes answered. Gina Sent from Yahoo! Mail on Android
Re: [QUAD-L] suprapubic
Ive had a suprapubic for about 10 yrs now went from latex to silicone even found a silione catheter thats as flexible as latex since found out I was allergic to the latex. I get mine changed every 3 wks if I wait for 4 wks I have bad spasms n some AD. I also take a pain pill before I go so my body is more relaxed. I use a legbag during the day and bedbag at nite. I usually just rinse them good with hot water, but lately been gettin alot of uti's so been rinsing them with vinegar n hot water. Also if I get clogged I use vinegar n water to irrigate. Also talk with your urologist get him to work with you how often you should get it changed like if 4 wks is to long go for 3 wks see if its better also maybe take a pain pill or maybe some baclofen before you get it changed. Also since youve just had it done your body is just getting use to a foreign object in a different place and everyones different and some peoples body might have a harder time excepting it. [QUAD-L] medical question
Hi Y'all, Okay broke my neck back in July 99 had my c5 bone replaced with a bit of hip bone. Just went to a Pain Management Dr. that found my L1 & 2 are going bad from sitting since our bodies r not made to sit for as long as we do. They found arthritis in both spots too. (bones are breaking down) so the phantom pain (pins n needles) are getting in tolerable (sometimes). So the Dr. has tried me on neourtin but didnt really help then tried cybalta but it helped but side effects werent worth it now he tried me on lyrica but omg it makes me neauseous, dizzy n makes me pass out. He told me if the lyrica doesnt work their gonna go into my back DONT want that. Now to question: Have any of y'all tried anything that I havent or your Dr has tried on you that I can suggest to my Dr? I tolerate quit abit of pain but it can be intolerable sometimes. Just thought I could see if any of y'all might know of anything. Thank y'all, Gina Do just once what others say you can't do, and you will never pay attention to their limitations again.

Re: [QUAD-L] 2 much bachoflen
One thing you need to do is before you even upped your baclofen was to find out why your getting the sweats n spasms, usually alot of times taking more medicine hides whats really wrong.(the sweats n spasms or A.D. is usually our body telling us something is wrong) I took myself off (slowly) but 60mg of baclofen from 160mg the only reason I needed so much at the time was cause I broke my leg. One thing about baclofen is it lowers your blood pressure and you need to remember also its hard on the digestive system and liver. It will make you very sleepy because its a type of relaxer. You need to talk w/ your doctor and see if there's something wrong w/ your back you might have done something to it and not realized it or maybe the way your laying in bed or could be your bed, but just taking more medicine is not always a good idea, your just masking the problem. Maybe try something else becoz thats alot of baclofen and sounds like causing more problems. I was given another tracheostomy during a pneumonia in 88, which they changed to a trach button before I left the hospital. It has kept me out of the hospital except for a UTI that got into my bloodstream causing a coma for 13 days. I had a pneumonia last year. The trach buttonallows me to get over the bronchitis at home. I didn't want it, but it turned out to be a good thing for me and not very noticeable. It is mostly capped, unless I have a lot allergies or congestion and might need suctioned as needed. Just wanted to say I miss those that I have not heard from. What does everybody think about the new health-care bill as nobody has mentioned. I know that is a political issue, but very important for our ability to survive and get what we need. There has been talk about taking away from Medicare. Medicaid is also having problems with reduced state revenue for problems. Kansas has mentioned there will be some reductions with populations such as ours, but I don't know where it will be targeted. PCA hourly pay is very low and hard to find people that want to work with no increases at all for a number of years. Just wondering! .
Re: [QUAD-L] Help! Suprapubic Cath keeps plugging
Whether its a supra pubic or not sounds like you might need to irrigate and flush out the sediment and mucus, but also might want to get some antibiotics. You can flush with water and vinegar and do it till it comes clean You should be irrigating whenever you start getting to much junk in the tube, but at least couple times a week.. Or you might have some infection thats why the stediment and mucus is clogging it. You'll notice too that near holidays more people are emotional, also everyone gets depressed its normal and to let a good cry out is healthy, it can let the stress out or frustration out or anything. Talking to someone whether it be a friend, family or a psycologist helps, but if the depression is to overwhelming than do get medication, but beware if the depression isnt chemical alot of times the pills could make it worse the side effects could be worse than the depression its self.
