I understood that if you could prove the car/shell had previously been registered then the V765 could be used, a lot of older Kit car clubs have a V765 person who can inspect cars on behalf of the relevant club, I have heard of several cars that have had thier original registration number reinstated the new one being subjected to an SVA/IVA test. Maybe it is time for the Owners club or Eddie to investigate joining the V765 scheme as these 2 are not the first to have been cloned. There is a Locost/Robin Hood type using a 2+2 chassis number, it was even using the QSC Stourbridge number plates when I saw it, the owner had bought the car as a Quantum 7 wondered why there were not any cars the same as his. [Quantum Owners] Re: Endura DE into saloon
Another photobucket update, this time showing the modified oil pump. http://www.photobucket.com/endura_oil Getting a round pipe fitting into a rectangular hole was a tad tricky. If it doesn't leak a bit I'll be astounded. I'm going to use a remote filter head, probably mounted low and behind the gearbox to keep the mess down at oil changes. Speedflow do a 4 port remote head quite cheaply; 4 ports allows the head to be mounted almost anywhere since pipes can come from either direction. The unused ports are blanked off, and my cunning plan is to modify one of the blanking plugs to provide the turbo oil feed. Just a couple more little jobs to attend to, then it's all go for another trial fit of the engine. SHOULD fit OK now. There are indeed 2 oilways - obviously inout. Easy enough. Size-wise it should definitely fit now, even with the 2 pipes coming out of the end. One of the oilways is rectangular in section, so a bit of careful drilling is required to get it to the point where it can be tapped. The other is circular, much easier. Only one thingmost of the oil system pipe adapters are 1/2BSP fitting. I've got taps for that, but it's HUGE. 1/2BSP thread major diameter is approx 21mm. There isn't enough metal to go that big. 3/8BSP would be OK, except the thread size of 16.6mm doesn't leave much wall-thickness due to the 13mm bore. 3/8bsp was designed for pipe with a 10mm(ish) bore. 17mm? Slightly better, but I think metric has deeper threads so may actually be worse. Hmmm...just had a thought. [Quantum Owners] Quantum for friends son
Hello, A friends son has not bought a car 'cus of around 3k insurance premium on even the smallest engine worthless set of 4 wheels. After a spill on a 125 I've kind of convinced his dad to look at getting him a quantum in part due to the insurance deal. If there is a 2+2 or saloon going cheap can you let me know please? I assume club insurance has gone up but was it around 1k for under 20 year olds? TIA -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Quantum Owners Group group. I have to agree with Eddie; I very reluctantly sold my orignal 2+2 because it was not really suitable for car seats and I don't think my H4 would be any better now. So Coupe would get my vote too! [Quantum Owners] Re: Fwd: Quantum Owners Club: 2+2 OR H4?
Hi Geoff. Although I agree with Eddie about the Coupe being better as a family car, I originally built my 2+2 for the same reason as Paul. A look at the 2+2 gallery on the Club website will show my car complete with children, good lady (long suffering?) wife, bikes and trailer tent. Careful choice of the child seat was an important factor but these days I think most of them are massive and that makes it harder to fit them to the rear seat. Later on I used one of the simple foam booster cushions in the back. Unfortunately I can't get to Stafford this year because that smiling, waving daughter in the back of my 2+2, starts at University the day after the show and I have to drive her down to London on the Sunday! Regards Dave PS: It doesn't look like it from the e-mail address, but this Paul wouldn't happen to be Paul Robertshaw would it? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Quantum Owners Group group. [Quantum Owners] Re: Saloon throttle cable
I certainly had a sticky throttle with the 2+2, with the XR2 engine, but the cause was different: in this case the (pattern part) throttle cable didn't like the 180 degree turn it had to make as it went forward from the bulkhead, over the engine, and back to the carb. It was wearing through the inner nylon sheath within the bowden cable at the turn and to cure it I had to tie the cable at several points to ensure a wider curvature. It jammed so tight that the throttle pedal would not move... Neil On Sep 10, 8:35 pm, Susan and Martin Scott susanandmar...@corringham99.free-online.co.uk wrote: Has anyone else had a sticky throttle cable with their saloon? On examination, the inner cable at the carb end has a black nylon sheath around the metal cable - The end of this nylon is catching on the nylon threaded part on the end of the outer cable when the throttle pedal is pressed. As I'm using the car a lot at the moment, I've got round the problem by filing a chamfer on the black nylon so it doesn't catch. The cause is that the outer cable is too long - If it was shorter then the black nylon part would already be inside the outer cable before the pedal is depressed. There is no more adjustment available at the carb end, and to fix it properly I could move the inner cable by making a new pedestal for the throttle pedal mounting, as long as it doesn't compromise the throttle pedal position. I believe I have the correct part (fiesta XR2), but unfortunately I don't have the part number on my list. I'll see if I have a receipt with the part number - but would appreciate knowing if anyone else has experienced this. Hi al when I checked with DVLA they advised me that I could not register it on the oringinall reg without the chasis no and the reg no. I have neither for the blue one and only one item for the black one. They also said they could not be registered as a car with a new donor as they would have 2 lots of id. They also told me if you change an engine in a kit car which is already registered it would have to be Q registered after so gentlemen the DVLA or the nice man I spoke to was talking out of the wrong end of his anatomy as far as I'm concerned. But the V765 form is for old vehicle ythat have not been registered before as in old production cars as far as I can see. And that is as far as I have got so far so I will get back to the rebuild and sort this bit later.. .Sorry if this is not as helpful as you hoped but I would of been better with a chocolate fire guard. It is fine to know that a crime has been commited but quite another to get the authorities to act on any information you may have. My daughter has her own car sales business and had bought a Mini (new type) that she found out had had the mileage changed and she also had the culprit. The police were not interested and could not care less, so she got some money off the car from the sellers (criminals) by threatening them with exposure (false threat as police dont care). She then had to sell the car at auction and declared the mileage as incorrect, I bet that car is now enjoying false mileage high price! There are probably quite a few cloned kit cars out there. MMM just get an MOT guy to type in the reg and all the other numbers come up too!I think. - Original Message - From: george pearcegeor...@hotmail.co.uk To: Quantum Owners Group quantumowners@googlegroups.com Sent: Sunday, September 11, 2011 11:14 PM Subject: [Quantum Owners] Re: update on blue shell from fife. If I had all the details of the car I could have used a V62 form job done. A V765 would not be required... George... Hi Jon You are correct but when certain things were mentioned on the phone he hung up it took 2-3 weeks to get him talking again we just wanted the shells out before they were disposed of I don't think Eddie was very sure when we got there it was a bit rough and he could not understand a word they said. We got them away and then pulled over to restrap them down. Not saying anymore on line.. George... Finally a question. Does anyone know if the air flap control on Bosche K jetronic system has to be fitted flat or can it lie at an angle and still work correctly?
